00:00There is extreme anger by at least two of the families who had family members slaughtered
00:10in the Idaho murders, where Brian Koberger has now cut a plea deal with prosecutors where the
00:17death penalty is off the table. He will plead guilty as early as tomorrow to four counts of
00:24murder and then spend the rest of his life behind bars. Two families say it is an outrage and they
00:32weren't even notified ahead of time that this was going to happen.
00:36Right. And there is, as Harvey said, the anger is coming from the Gonsalves family. Their daughter,
00:43Kaylee, was killed that night and also from the Kernodal family. And Zanna Kernodal was
00:54the victim that night. But both of their families have said they were not only blindsided by this,
01:01but they are angry and did not want this outcome. They wanted their day in court to face
01:09Brian Koberger and it didn't happen. The judge has to approve this and
01:13that could be a wild card. We don't know. They're going to go to court tomorrow
01:17and presumably they're going to ask the judge to accept the plea. There have been cases where
01:22judges have rejected it. I don't really see it here. But I will say this. We found another case
01:29in the late 90s. 96. And it was interesting because it was similar. There was a stabbing,
01:35two people stabbed. The same DA who was the DA now was the DA then. And they did the same thing.
01:43They took the death penalty off the table. And in this case, we have been calling the DA. We've been
01:49hammering them on the phones. They are radio silent. No explanation for why they're doing
01:55this. As a matter of fact, we talked to one of the family members who said they had a meeting late
02:01last week and they were trying to prepare them for trial. And then all of a sudden, this happens.
02:06Right. So that's and that's the reason for the anger. Now, we should say that there are
02:11two other families that are on board with this and actually think that this is going to save them
02:18and the families of all the victims, a lot of heartache and going through this trial and
02:23potentially years of appeals.
