00:00The other big case that went down today was in Idaho, where Brian Kohlberger, the accused,
00:07although actually we don't even have to say accused now, the murderer of those four college
00:12students at University of Idaho, he was in court to enter his plea in the plea deal that we told
00:18you outraged some of the family members of the victims. Two of the families are furious at this,
00:24and it is so interesting. The judge actually made mention kind of obliquely about this before
00:32accepting the plea deal and said that I am not going to be influenced by what other people say.
00:39I've been getting a lot of phone calls and voice messages. I'm not considering it. But the key
00:45moment in this plea deal where Brian Kohlberger has pled guilty to burglary and four counts
00:54of murder, he was asked a question. And the question isn't so much, are you pleading guilty
01:00to save your ass from the death penalty? The question is, did you do it? Has anyone promised
01:07you that I would be lenient or easy on you if you pled guilty? No. Has anyone threatened you or anyone
01:14close to you to get you to plead guilty? No. Has anyone other than the state's agreements with
01:21respect to the plea agreement, has anyone promised you anything in exchange for your plea agreement?
01:26No. Did you, on November 13, 2022, enter the residence at 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho,
01:36with the intent to commit the felony crime of murder? Yes. Did you, on November 13, 2022,
01:45in Latak County, state of Idaho, kill and murder Madison Mogan, a human being? Yes.
01:56And did you do that willfully, unlawfully, deliberately, and with premeditation and malice
02:00of forethought? Yes. So the judge ran through each one of the victims and asked the same set
02:05of questions Kohlberger admitted to killing each of them with premeditation, as is the case, right?
02:10A judge will not accept a guilty plea from a defendant unless they admit to committing the
02:15crimes for which they're accused. And Kohlberger, without much in the way of emotion, facial
02:20expression, just went through and answered in the affirmative that he had done each one of these
02:24crimes. Hi, my name's Lexi from New York City, and I kind of agree with the two families who are upset.
02:30I would definitely want to know more information about why it happened and how it happened and what
02:35is the reason. I mean, what happened in court was pretty standard what we expected. I feel so badly
02:42for those families that were so upset about this, the Gonsalves family, because there was no
02:48opportunity. And I guess at sentencing, maybe they'll, then they'll have that opportunity to,
02:55to voice their anger about this. And, and it's, it's over though. I mean, this is not,
03:02the sentence is already there. So he's already accepted this sentence. He said,
03:06he's not going to argue the sentence. There may be, there may be an opportunity for the victims to
03:12speak, but it's not going to matter. They, it not, it will not move the needle. I get it doesn't
03:17matter the outcome of the case. I think it matters to them to be able to get that out, right? To be
03:23able to. I think it's unsatisfying for them, at least for two families. No, there were two families
03:28that were fine with it. Two families are fine, but two are so outraged. And remember, we found,
03:34we found another case where the DA did exactly the same thing with a very similar case, um,
03:41two decades ago, same DA. And we can't get any answers from the DA on why.
