IN THE high-octane world of dragsters, one monster Corvette stands out for its ability to hit 200mph in three-and-a-half seconds. The 2014 “Screw Blown RVW” Corvette cranks out 3,800 horsepower and is owned by father and son team Mike Decker Jr. and Mike Decker III, who race the “doorslammer” in drag races around the US. The duo, who have been racing for 15 years, own a salvage yard in Baltimore and have produced some of the meanest and fastest cars known to man – but the 2014 Corvette is the biggest and baddest creation yet. Mike Decker III told R.Rides: “My car is fast, bad to the bone, and always on edge. It’s the ultimate ride because in an eighth of a mile, I’m running over 200mph. We are the ones to beat on race day.” Built in partnership with Gil Mobley Motorsports, the Corvette has broken multiple records and won multiple races since 2014. The Deckers’ incredible drag racer runs on a 526 Brad Anderson motor, sits on 315 Mickey Thompson tyres, and can finish an eighth of a mile race in three-and-a-half seconds. The two Mikes hone their skills by competing against one another in drag races, but say their rivalry is a friendly one. Decker III said: “I’ve been racing against my father for the past two-and-a-half years. It’s very competitive because we both bring out the best in each other. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who wins as long as one of us comes out on top.”

01:09to the street car.
01:10That escalated into what we're doing now.
01:13Five, six years ago, we partnered with a man called Gil Mobley
01:18who's been racing small tire racing for the last 10, 15 years.
01:22He was always the man to beat.
01:24And now he's partnered with us and we are the ones to beat on race day.
01:29The car has held multiple records since it's been built back in 2014
01:34and has won multiple races.
01:36I have won a couple Outlaw 10-5 races back when we ran that class.

01:55Back when we ran Outlaw 10-5, the car was first to the 80s, first to the 70s, and we were picking up more steam

02:27That we do most work on ourselves.

02:36On top of it, we have a screw flow application.
02:39So on the inside, we have a neochance torque converter.
02:46And a tie drive hooked together to a link of transmission.
02:49That's hooked together to drive shaft.
02:52So with Mark Williams rear, the car is on a 315 drag radial.
02:56I didn't know a whole lot about racing.
03:15I was fortunate to get enough people to help me, teach me along the way, and get me where I needed to be.
03:21What I can do then is pass that on to my son.
03:25The mistakes I made, the things that I've done wrong, to make him a better driver.
03:29To get there a whole lot quicker than I did.
03:31On 868, again.
03:34I've been racing against my father for the past two and a half years.
03:38It is very competitive because we both bring out the best in each other.
