00:00I want to ask you a two-parter on Bregman.

00:02Number one, what's your understanding on a timeline?

00:05Could we see him before the All-Star break?

00:06He left that door open.

00:08And what did you think of his comments about a potential extension

00:11following up on Boris from a week ago?

00:13Yeah, he was super happy and super optimistic after working out yesterday.

00:17But as he said, you know, it was like, well, what boxes do you have to check off?

00:20You don't run just straight lines in baseball,

00:23although a lot of times you kind of do.

00:25But you have to be able to function in multiple different ways, get in the game.

00:30Although he didn't seem like he was really saying,

00:34absolutely, I'm going to do a rehab assignment.

00:36I just think that you heard from a very optimistic guy,

00:40a guy who wants to get out there,

00:41a guy that doesn't feel like he needs a rehab assignment,

00:44and a guy who thinks he's going to be back before the All-Star game.

00:48And for the Red Sox, all right, let's go.

00:51I mean, it's no secret how much you need that guy

00:54and how much that guy that you left behind

00:56changes the entire dynamic of this equation.

00:59So, yeah, but you don't want that quad thing popping up again.

01:02In terms of the contract, you know, as I said before,

01:05Tim Haley, good job talking to Scott Boris.

01:08But Scott Boris, like what he said isn't a shock at all.

01:12I mean, it's just, of course, they're going to be interested.

01:16And really, I look at what Bregman said yesterday

01:19as sort of the same vein.

01:21Of course, he's going to say he wants to stay here.

01:24He loves it here.

01:25And he's on the same page as Scott Boris, all of that.

01:28So none of it surprises me.

01:30What we have to figure out reading between all these lines is,

01:33is this a feasible thing?

01:35Is Alex Bregman going to stay here?

01:37I still think he is.

01:39Like, I still think Alex Bregman is going to stay here.

01:42Now, is that under the current contract?

01:46I don't know.

01:47I do think that at some point,

01:49they probably will try to alter a little bit.

01:51But I think that all these people saying he's going to opt out.

01:55$40 million, man.

01:57I don't care.

01:58Like, $40 million,

02:00even locked up for the next two years after this one.

02:03That's a lot.

02:04His wife is in this program.

02:05It's a three-year program at Harvard.

02:07They seem to like it here.

02:09Maybe I'm being, you know, pie in the sky.
