00:00Summer is officially here and while you might be planning plenty of trips to the beer garden
00:06at least if the weather stays as good as it's been, there's still quite a few reasons to keep
00:10your eye on the telly this summer. I'm TV and tech writer Matt Monakson and these are some
00:16shows that you need to watch in July 2025. Let me know which you're most excited for.
00:24So first up we've got The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives which is quite a rhyming one and a bit
00:29of a mouthful but it's Disney Plus' new hit reality TV show. The first season came out in 2024,
00:37the second season came out in May of this year and they've got the Mom Talk gang back together for a
00:44reunion special which released on Disney Plus on July the 1st and it also included a bit of a sneak
00:51peek at season three. So it's a 90 minute special, fans of the show which is really popular on Disney
00:58Plus will not want to miss this. Next up we have The Sandman is back on Netflix this month,
01:05it's returning for its second and final season. It's based on the acclaimed graphic novel series by
01:14Neil Gaiman and the season is going to be split throughout the month in the way that Netflix sometimes
01:21does. So the first six episodes are out on July the 3rd then you have to wait a bit longer and on July
01:2924th the next five episodes are out and then one last episode is out on July 31st. It's a fantasy series
01:37full of gods and all that fun stuff and comic booky stuff. On a totally different speed we have
01:43Such Brave Girls which was a surprise like sort of successful hit for BBC 3 when it came out in 2023.
01:52The wait for more episodes has been pretty long if you enjoyed the show like I did but it's finally
01:58back. The full second season is out on iPlayer on the 3rd of July and all six episodes will be available
02:06then. After two years away Deb, Josie, Billy and Dev are back and the stakes are even higher this time.
02:14The BBC won so yeah sounds a bit ominous but it promises to be another dark delightful treat
02:22and that's available on BBC iPlayer from July the 3rd. Totally different speed. Ballard starts on July
02:29the 10th on Prime Video so this is a spin-off of the Bosch franchise which is really testing the theory
02:37that you can't have too much of a good thing. So there was obviously the original series on Prime
02:42Video and then there was a sequel series, Bosch Legacy which recently came to an end and at the end
02:48of that it introduced the character of Renee Ballard who is now getting her own full series on Prime Video
02:55on July the 9th. Maggie Q stars as the titular detective who is in the cold case division of
03:04LA. I'm sure Bosch himself will show up at some point in the show because yeah they're all linked.
03:11They all live in LA. They're probably going to bump into each other. How big is LA? Can't be that big.
03:16And finally another sort of crimey one with a bit of nostalgic throwback we've got Dexter Resurrection.
03:23So Dexter if you remember was a big popular tv series in sort of the 2000s 2010. It's been revived
03:31for Paramount Plus and there was Dexter New Blood a couple years ago and now there's Dexter Resurrection
03:38which is the latest reincarnation sequel carry-on series of the show about the titular serial killer.
03:47Michael C Hall is back once again to play Dexter and this time he's joined by some pretty big names.
03:52So there's Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones fame will are part of the cast for this
03:59series. The first two episodes will be out on Paramount Plus on July the 11th and then episodes
04:05will release weekly on Fridays. Episodes will release weekly from that point on through to sort of August
04:12September time. So lots of Dexter to look forward to and lots of really good tv to look forward to. So
04:17yeah let me know what you're most excited to watch in July 2025.
