Bhubaneswar (Odisha), July 1, 2025 (ANI): BMC staff protested in black badges against assault on BMC Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo in Bhubaneswar on July 1. Bhubaneswar Commissionerate police arrested three persons. The arrested have been identified as Jeevan Rout, Rashmi Mahapatra and Debashis Pradhan. “The incident happened yesterday when Mr Sahoo was attending to the public grievances. We all condemn this ghastly incident. We immediately lodged an FIR, and three people have been arrested. We have spoken to the senior police officials. We want stern action to be initiated against the culprit. After this incident, we will certainly strengthen the security of the officers,” said Rajesh Prabhakar Patil. “As an expression of solidarity with Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation officials are sporting black badges today as a mark of protest against the incident,” he added.
