00:00Relations between the government and nurses and midwives is on life support.
00:07We will not be gas lit and we will not be taken for fools.
00:10I want nurses to know their respect and their value.
00:13I want them to know that we are determined to give nation-leading pain conditions.
00:16Talks broke down last week with the union claiming the state backflipped.
00:21Everything we thought that had been previously agreed within the last two weeks of negotiation was off the table.
00:26The reasoning behind this sudden about-face remains unclear.
00:29The union is demanding an increase of 13% over three years.
00:34The government has offered 11.
00:36We want to see more nurses join the profession. It's a calling.
00:40They should be respected and they will be.
00:42Now in any negotiation there will always be differing points of view.
00:46David Cressifulli said that he respects public servants but these offers show his words mean nothing.
00:52The government has until Wednesday to agree or the union says it will ramp up its strike action next week.
00:58It will be disruptive, more disruptive than stage one and it will involve nurses and midwives refusing to perform some of their normal tasks or accept some new tasks that do not directly involve direct clinical care.
01:10Meantime the government is also clashing with its Victorian counterpart over the GST carve up.
01:16Queensland claims it's paying for Victoria's pandemic policy failures and has been shortchanged on Commonwealth transport funding.
01:24It's just bullshit, right?
01:26The Queensland budget's black hole, their 8 billion plus black hole has got nothing to do with the circumstances here in Victoria.
01:34On the brown snake we've got 4 million visitors, on the Yarra no one's catching it and yet they get nearly double the funding of GST than what Queensland does for fairies.
