At her press briefing, Karoline Leavitt responded to Sen. Thom Tillis's (R-NC) criticism of the Big Beautiful Bill.

00:01Yeah, thanks, Caroline.

00:02What is the White House's response to Senator Tillis' criticism,

00:06articulated from the Senate floor yesterday,

00:08in which you said passing the big, beautiful bill

00:11would betray President Trump's promise to protect Medicaid?

00:15Well, he is just wrong.

00:17And the President and the vast majority of Republicans

00:20who are supportive of this legislation are right.

00:23This bill protects Medicaid, as I laid out for you,

00:26for those who truly deserve this program,

00:28the needy pregnant women, children, sick Americans

00:33who physically cannot work.

00:35And what it does is it ensures that able-bodied Americans

00:39who can work 20 hours a week are actually doing so,

00:42and that will therefore strengthen and protect those benefits

00:45for Americans who need it, as well as cutting out the waste,

00:48fraud, and abuse, as well as getting 1.4 million illegal aliens

00:51off of the program.

00:52So all of those measures are actually going to protect it

00:55for those who need it.

00:56That's the President's position, and that's what this bill does,

00:58and that's why Republicans need to vote for it

01:00and get it to the President's desk.
