00:00Danny Carvajal, how are you?
00:03Following the operation and how do you think the team are right for the game against Juventus?
00:07I feel in good shape, training with the team.
00:12I'm not too sure if maybe tomorrow I might be called up for the game in the match team squad.
00:19Looking forward to the game.
00:23It's now the knockout stage.
00:26If you lose, you're going home.
00:30The team fully focused on Juventus.
00:36How tough was that process?
00:43Well, like many of life's experiences, until you're there, you don't really know what people have to go through.
00:53I think I was very mature when it happened.
00:58I had the support of my family.
01:00My children were there too.
01:04It was easier to recover.
01:08If my wife hadn't been there, and it happened to me earlier, I might have struggled.
01:17But, you know, it was a lengthy timeout.
01:20You've got to recover.
01:22There's a process to the recovery.
01:25So it's been a few months, but yes, I'm now ready to compete again.
01:29Did you always think you could recover your best form?
01:39Well, you know, it's part of the game.
01:42There are injuries.
01:43I woke up every morning with lots of energy.
01:46Whatever it was, walking with a crutch or gym.
01:48You know, I was just grateful to be improving and feeling better.
01:56What about mentally?
01:57I know, I know what I'm saying.
02:09I can only play one way.
02:10If I'm, you know, told to play, I will give 100%, going hard.
02:15But maybe I'm lacking that big game, tournament, fitness.
02:21But I'm not scared.
02:24I'm going to, you know, go in 100%.
02:25This is the first real test for Real Madrid at the Club World Cup.
02:40Well, we were down to 10 minutes against Pachuca.
02:45I do think that Juventus are a strong seed.
02:51We're up against a tough side.
02:56Of course, it is the knockout stage.
03:01We saw three centre-backs.
03:03Would you play in that back three?
03:06Would you prefer playing in that back three or right back?
03:09I think we're seeing lots of changes, a lot of versatility.
03:14Chamonix playing in between the two centre-backs.
03:16I have no problems playing wherever the manager sees fit, even if it's playing in goal.
03:24In that way, I don't enter, I'm always at the time of what the manager demands and what I can help.
03:30I'm available.
03:31A lot of people are saying that maybe Rounted needed a Jocelu.
03:41Because Rounted needs a big-name striker.
03:47Well, we're all happy that Psello has been doing well.
04:00Of course, if you have a striker with a lot of experience, it does help.
04:04Barca had Dijon, for example, a big target player.
04:16Last season, maybe we lacked somebody in that role.
04:20But I have to say, Gonzalo looks ready, physically is in good shape.
04:26Loads of energy, too.
04:27And if the manager manages that, it's going to be Gonzalo, I'm sure he'll be Harsin.
04:36Rounted ahead of Juventus.
04:39Team, you know very well.
04:42We're working hard.
04:44We're ready.
04:45Hopefully we can win.
04:50Lots of praise back in Spain.
04:52I don't really follow those social media.
04:55I just want to play.
04:57But I'm happy that the people think that I'm doing well.
05:03Are you happy with your performances?
05:05Yes.
05:06I think there's still room for improvement.
05:12I hope we can see that improvement against Juventus.
05:17Lots of jokes there with Braim and Ceballos.
05:23So you look like somebody on TikTok.
05:25Some broma entre nosotras al final.
05:28What a laugh, Tom.
05:28We're in the dressing room and we're very good people.
05:31You know what goes on in the dressing room, in the locker room.
05:34You've got jokers, but I find it funny.
05:35What?
05:35What do you tell them about all of that?
05:38Well, no, I'll give them some jokes back in the dressing room, but that's it.
05:41I don't want to just laugh back.
05:44What has the process been of adapting the defence, you know, with this tournament, you know, missing Asensio, and then now you're getting players back like Carvajal, still more players to come in defence, but you and Trent and working together, especially with a new manager like Xabi Alonso.
05:59So, yeah, you know, it's always great to have players coming back, you know, Carvajal, you know, he's a great player, Asensio is a great player, so it's great to have them back and, yeah, then we can make our strongest team.
06:15So far at the Rock Stadium, Ole Bayern Munich has managed to get a win.
06:20Is this 18 of concern for Real Madrid, considering that I am making your return for the second game?
06:24Um, I think, you know, I think we're ready for the game and, yeah, hopefully we can win and that's the plan.
06:33Dean, you know a lot about the pressure in Madrid, but you, of course, are the most chill, the chill guy.
06:38How do you do that? What is your secret? Because to a lot of people it's hard to do, right?
06:43Well, I don't care.
06:47It's a bit of that. I play football and that's it.
06:50I'm just laughing there. The only focus is on playing football. It doesn't get stressed.
07:02You went to Italy to learn a different type of football. What did you actually learn, though?
07:08Well, they focus a lot on the defensive line. They work hard on how teams should defend and, thankfully, I learned a lot there.
07:25Is Mbappé fully recovered?
07:29I think he's in good shape, but you will find out tomorrow.
07:31There's so many games. You've played 75 so far this season.
07:44We have to play.
07:47I'm picked to play. I will play.
07:51I like playing football.
07:56Valverde said you're a bit like Tony Cross when you bring the ball out from the back.
08:01They only have a lot of games and, really, they speak for you in such high terms.
08:07I hear that. I see that anywhere, but he's a great colleague, a great teammate.
08:11I'd like to thank him.
08:13Lots of positive in this tournament for players, like the monetary value for winning.
08:18How much of a motivation is that for you as a player?
08:22The money?
08:26We're just playing. You know, we just want to win.
08:27I think, you know, we're all playing for the pride of winning.
08:32And that's the plan. You know, we want to lift the trophy and...
08:35Team player.
08:40The team ahead of the game against Juventus.
08:42I think the team are in good shape.
08:46It's amazing, this experience, being here with the first team squad.
08:49I'm proud.
08:53I'm learning a lot.
08:57What's it like, this experience? What are you learning from Cebu Alonso?
09:01And do you think you can have a big role this season?
09:08There's loads of confidence from the manager.
09:10He's on top of us. He just wants us to give our most.
09:17What's it like training alongside all these world-class players?
09:25Well, you try and get the most of the experience.
09:32Learn from the veterans.
09:33You have seen maybe Gonzalo also playing, getting more minutes.
09:41Is that what you're hoping to achieve yourself?
09:44Well, we're seeing Gonzalo playing well.
09:47It'd be an amazing opportunity to try and play here.
09:50More for the club, and I'm really happy for Gonzalo.
09:52He's doing brilliantly.
09:54As for adapting to the climate, it's very humid, hot.
10:00What was it like playing in Miami?
10:03And again, similar kickoff against Juventus.
10:07Well, you get used to playing and training in this climate.
10:13It's true, it's hot.
10:16But we always try to give 100% next uses.
10:25How important is it to have youth team players in that first team squad?
10:28Very important.
10:31Well, we're loving this experience.
10:33It's a dream.
10:36And making the most of every single second here.
10:44What's it like training with Vinny and Mbappé?
10:48Well, they just tell us to be ourselves.
10:51What's it like, though, handling that kind of pressure?
10:56Well, I think in football you've got to just gain experience.
11:01Sometimes you have chances, sometimes you've got to put them away, but it's a learning curve.
11:16My family, always there supporting me.
11:29Thanks.
11:30You're welcome.
