Transcript
00:00When was the first time you realized like,
00:01you were truly that bitch?
00:03How do I say this like, and not sound big-headed?
00:06No, absolutely, sound big-headed.
00:08You are Sasha Colby.
00:09I honestly always knew, like at a very young age,
00:12I was just waiting for the world to catch up.
00:14Period.
00:15Hey them, it's Sasha Colby,
00:16and I'm here to drag Vivian Wilson.
00:19Oh.
00:25Oh my God.
00:30What is the goddess's vision?
00:33All right, so like, you know, she's a model.
00:36Yes.
00:37She's in fashion.
00:39So I'm thinking like high fashion,
00:41like 70s, 80s, fun little lion's mane of a hair,
00:45because I mean.
00:46I have a biological bust down.
00:47You do have a biological bust down.
00:49But I'm gonna give you the Sasha Colby snatch.
00:51Yes.
00:52So what was your like, first introduction to drag?
00:55I do wish it wasn't a TV show, but it was, obviously.
00:58I mean like, I am 21, so I feel like that's reasonable.
01:00Now I heard people in my QS studio,
01:02which was Queer Street Union,
01:04talking about this drag queen named Jujubee,
01:06and I was like, who is that?
01:07Jujubee?
01:08Yeah.
01:09She's everyone's first.
01:10She's been on a lot of franchises, so.
01:12Yeah, that makes sense.
01:14I can feel the tightness of this.
01:16Yes, the snatch is snatching.
01:17Yeah, it's very snatched.
01:19So what was your first introduction to drag?
01:21I feel like I was 18, no 17.
01:24I snuck into an 18 and over bar in Hawaii.
01:27Oh my.
01:28How scandalous.
01:29I know, to watch this drag show.
01:31Mm-hmm.
01:31And it was just like the best that Hawaii had to offer.
01:35It was trans drag.
01:37It was a lot of dancing.
01:39Like, I remember this beautiful woman was doing the hula.
01:42Oh, I love that.
01:43It was like, sign me up.
01:44Yeah.
01:44So I literally shook hormones right after that.
01:46Oh, really?
01:47Yes.
01:48Because I was like, oh, you can be a drag queen and be trans.
01:51Yes.
01:52Now we're going to bring this in the back.
01:53My hair keeps getting worse.
01:54Because you have so much hair.
01:54Sorry.
01:55I have to never apologize for your beauty, darling.
01:57Oh, goodness.
01:58And now we're just going to go into makeup,
01:59and then we can finish up the hair after we give you
02:02this drag mug.
02:05OK, besides the obvious, not because I'm in the room,
02:08but like, who's your favorite drag queen?
02:10Like, who do you enjoy?
02:11I mean, it's you.
02:12Well.
02:12I was asked to put down, like, who's your hero on an application,
02:15and I wrote your name.
02:16Before I met you, and now I'm here.
02:19This is actually mega coconuts.
02:21Sasha, Colby, who are your favorite drag queens?
02:25Ooh, who are my favorite drag queens?
02:27OK.
02:27Or drag kings.
02:28Or drag royals.
02:29Drag royal.
02:30Or drag monsters.
02:30I do love a Landon cider.
02:32I love Landon.
02:33I love my daughter, Bitch Pudding.
02:35Oh, she's your daughter?
02:36Yes.
02:37I didn't know that.
02:38Winner of Dragula.
02:39Winner of Dragula.
02:40She's incredible.
02:41As far as, like, drag race girls, who I think is amazing,
02:46and I would not want to go up against them, would be Kennedy
02:49Davenport.
02:50Oh my god, yes.
02:51For sure.
02:51Like, she's the ultimate for me.
02:53She is like the Simone Biles of drag.
02:56Yes.
02:56I noticed when you're on your videos, your social media, and you're
03:00serving it to the camera like you were doing your runway walks, I was
03:04like, oh, she's making sure that she's ready to do so if she has to.
03:09Well, yes.
03:10I, in my mind, I like lip sync all the time, like, alone in my room.
03:17Uh-huh.
03:18I am very that.
03:19What's your favorite lip sync song?
03:20Oh my god.
03:21Like, when I'm, like, alone in my room, just, like, vibing, and just, like,
03:25giving it all to the stuffed animals on my bed.
03:27Yes.
03:28I like, like, trashy Europop.
03:29That's, like, my favorite thing.
03:30Work.
03:31Erica Vickman.
03:32Okay, I need to Spotify these.
03:33Erica Vickman, like, makes, like, Finnish songs, and I don't speak Finnish, but I can lip sync in Finnish.
03:37I love that.
03:39Yeah.
03:40I can kind of, like, because of Selena, I can kind of lip sync in Spanish, but I shouldn't be talking in Spanish.
03:44Yeah.
03:45I think I modeled myself after, like, a fierce girl, my best friend Lindsay, who was my friend in high school.
03:51Oh, that's so sweet.
03:52Yeah.
03:53And she was just, like, that really hot girl in school that I was, like, obsessed over.
04:00The boys were teasing me because I was, like, way too feminine.
04:04Mm-hmm.
04:05And we kind of just became these, like, inseparable friends, but I noticed, like, when I transitioned, like, my idea was to, like, not be a girl and, like, not be trans, but, like, be my best friend Lindsay.
04:17I want it to look like, um, like, blonde bust-down Bayonetta, but ultimately I don't know if I succeeded in that goal.
04:24But I haven't even played Bayonetta.
04:26I just think she's, like, really cunty.
04:28This is a video game character.
04:29Okay.
04:30Hot.
04:31They're gonna make fun of you for not knowing that.
04:32Yes, for sure.
04:33I don't really know for a drag name.
04:34Like, what?
04:35I don't really have any.
04:36I do kind of want to, like, one and done it.
04:37Uh-huh.
04:38Because I feel like people change their names.
04:39Yeah, I'd want to keep on changing.
04:40Yeah, I don't want to do that.
04:41That's the hard part.
04:42I've changed my name enough times.
04:43I'm trans, okay?
04:44The one time was enough.
04:45Yeah, I never did.
04:46No, it was, like, three times.
04:47Oh, really?
04:48Last name.
04:49Okay.
04:50My middle name.
04:51And then Vivian.
04:52Three basic white girl names.
04:53There was a video game character named Vivian.
04:55Okay.
04:56It was from this, like, game called Paladins.
04:57Like, it's very, um, adult and proper, and I love that.
05:00It also means alive.
05:02Ugh.
05:03Which just taught me something.
05:05So how did you get the name Sasha Colby?
05:07Well, Colby...
05:08You're from the house of Colby, right?
05:09Yeah.
05:10Colby's, like, looking for me?
05:11Yeah.
05:12Colby's my drag mama from Hawaii.
05:14Mm-hmm.
05:15I also just wanted, like, a, like, a, what I thought was exotic.
05:18Like, an exotic, like, Eastern European model.
05:21Is Sasha an exotic name?
05:23I mean, like, for a Hawaiian, yeah.
05:25You know what?
05:26Actually, that's fair.
05:27I've always wanted to be, like, a strong, like, fuck off.
05:30Yeah.
05:31Bad bitch.
05:32Mm-hmm.
05:33That, like, you'll fall in love with her, but she might...
05:35Kill you.
05:36Kill you.
05:37Yeah.
05:38Yeah.
05:39Like a siren.
05:40Yes.
05:41Yeah.
05:42When was the first time you realized, like, you were truly that bitch?
05:43How do I say this, like, and not sound big-headed?
05:46No, absolutely, sound big-headed.
05:47You are Sasha fucking Colby.
05:49I honestly always knew, like, at a very young age, I was just waiting for the world to catch
05:53up.
05:54Period.
05:57Okay, we're gonna do the Crucial Eyeliner.
05:59We're gonna go on this journey together, all right?
06:00Yes.
06:01Has it been, like, challenging for you as, like, a trans woman who does drag?
06:04It was hard when I moved to LA, because I came from, you know, Hawaii was pretty trans drag,
06:09and there was space for trans women in there.
06:11Mm-hmm.
06:12And, like, a lot of, like, trans men doing drag in Hawaii.
06:14When I moved here, actually, to LA, with the intention of wanting to get on Drag Race,
06:19like, you know, a lot of my continental sisters was like, oh, like, girl, they don't have, like,
06:23they don't feature the dolls there, like, how are you gonna do it?
06:26How are you gonna do it?
06:27And I was like, I'm not too sure, but I'm gonna figure it out.
06:30Well, you are Sasha Colbert.
06:31Um, by hook or by crook, but...
06:34Did you, like, know, like, you were gonna get on?
06:37No, actually, I didn't.
06:38Really?
06:39I didn't really feel safe to, like, even audition, because I never saw anyone like me that went
06:43far until I saw, like, Sonique actually go back for All Stars and win.
06:48Mm-hmm.
06:49And I saw Got Mick, you know, a trans man doing...
06:52Drag.
06:53Fem drag, you know?
06:54Well, I grew up in the age of the internet.
06:56A lot of YouTubers were, like, my first, like, introduction to the trans experience.
07:01Natalie Nguyen, Abigail Thorne, Kat Blatt, a lot of, like, video essayists.
07:05Okay.
07:06Yeah.
07:07Those are the icons.
07:09Yeah, of, like, modern trans internet.
07:11Yeah, love that.
07:12What is one thing that, like, younger trans people like myself should, like, understand?
07:18I feel like you're really good at, um, understanding your history.
07:23But I would like to see a lot more community building with the generations of trans.
07:29Yeah.
07:30I get really moved when I go home to Hawaii, and we have, like, these big, like, beach parties.
07:34Mm-hmm.
07:35And it's, like, four generations of trans women.
07:36I love that.
07:37Trans people.
07:38And you just look around, and these are the women that raised me, and then these are the
07:42up-and-coming news that we get to, like, be an example for.
07:45So I really think, like, community is so important.
07:47Know the girls that came before you.
07:48Exactly.
07:49And honor those girls.
07:50I love, like, watching, like, the New York ball scenes and seeing them honor, like, the
07:54legends and the icons.
07:55Yeah.
07:56You know, we take for granted when we see, you know, a lot of representation.
08:00So we gotta remember that it wasn't always like this.
08:02Yeah.
08:03Exactly.
08:04Oh, this is crunchy.
08:05Yes.
08:06We are shellacked.
08:07Oh.
08:08What the fuck?
08:09This is so weird.
08:10Drag is weird.
08:12Yeah.
08:13Hey, close your eyes for a moment.
08:14Mm-hmm.
08:15Yeah, just relax and close.
08:17My coming out story, I was pretty much outed by the nosy people in my church.
08:24Oh, sure.
08:25And they were pretty much telling my family that I was gay and I was hanging around with
08:32all these, like, people at nightclubs and stuff.
08:34Mm-hmm.
08:35How did they know?
08:36That were at the club.
08:37Yeah.
08:38Stop playing.
08:39Exactly.
08:40Wait, hold on.
08:41Yes.
08:42It takes one to know well.
08:43Yeah.
08:44So I kind of was forced to come out.
08:45Damn.
08:46As trans.
08:47Mm-hmm.
08:48Ran away from home before so I wouldn't get beat up.
08:49Oh, my goodness.
08:50Um, yeah.
08:51And when I was a safe distance and an ocean away, I came out and, yeah, my parents were really
08:57not, you know, well with it.
08:59They're older, too.
09:00Like, they kept on thinking that they did something wrong.
09:03Like, oh, what did we do wrong to make you like this?
09:05And I was like, nothing.
09:06Actually, you did everything right, surprisingly.
09:08But, like, you taught me how to have a good moral compass and how to go for what I wanted
09:13and not listen to anybody else.
09:15Oh, hell no.
09:16I'm doing this because I literally cannot stand the skin I'm in.
09:18And if I don't, I'm gonna scream.
09:20I already told you, like, I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to, like, sometimes
09:23saying my truth.
09:24How does it feel to, like, have so much kickback on the online community from, like, just,
09:29you know, the other side?
09:31Well, the other side is usually wrong.
09:33So, I mean, they're wrong about most things.
09:35So, if they talk about me in a negative light, that usually means I'm doing something correct.
09:38What did Trixie say?
09:39Well, God isn't real.
09:40God isn't real.
09:41I am.
09:42Yes.
09:43Okay, so, I mean, you are red hot right now, right?
09:48You're blowing up on TikTok.
09:49You're all over the place.
09:51How does it feel, like?
09:52My friends, like, read me to film on a constant basis, which helps me not get too big of an ego.
09:57What are some, like, bucket list goals you want to do for, like, career-wise, like, let's
10:02say modeling?
10:03Let's manifest it right now.
10:04Let's send it on to the universe.
10:05I wanna walk runway, obviously.
10:07A dream runway?
10:08A dream designer?
10:09Schiaparelli.
10:10Schiaparelli.
10:11I love Schiaparelli.
10:12I love Schiaparelli.
10:13It's incredible.
10:14You talk a lot about, like, manifestation.
10:16Yeah.
10:17A lot.
10:18And it worked for Drag Race.
10:20Yeah!
10:21I mean, hello!
10:22I've always been a heavy manifester.
10:24I've just been kind of aware how much power we have.
10:29I realized that my focus was always focusing on looking at the world in a scary place and
10:33as somewhere that I had to be fearful of.
10:36And once I realized that the world is my playground and that I can make the world that I want and
10:42really, like, believe it.
10:44Fucking believe it.
10:45Period.
10:46When no one else and everyone is telling you different.
10:48There's no other option but for it to manifest.
10:51That unshakable belief that, like, everything will always work out.
10:55So now we are pretty much done with the glam.
10:58I'm going to finish the hair.
10:59I wore this hair for when I did the entrance.
11:02Yeah!
11:03No, I recognized it immediately.
11:04Yes!
11:05It was my Hawaiian goddess hair.
11:06Is this the same one?
11:07It is the same one.
11:08Oh shit!
11:09This is history.
11:10You've got history on you.
11:11Yeah.
11:12This is crazy.
11:13You actually have, like, a beautiful bust down.
11:15Yes.
11:16The biological bust down.
11:17Oh my god.
11:18Like...
11:19You're in drag, you know?
11:20It is really weird seeing myself without the biological bust down.
11:23Ow.
11:24Well, especially...
11:25Pain is beauty.
11:26Pain is beauty.
11:27And I'm in a lot of pain.
11:29The biological...
11:30So she's really beautiful.
11:31The biological bust down is crying.
11:34My head feels so heavy.
11:36So heavy.
11:37And this is my lighter hair.
11:38This is your lighter hair?
11:40This is my lighter hair.
11:41Girl.
11:42I can barely move.
11:43How did you do this?
11:45How do you perform in this?
11:46For hours.
11:47For hours.
11:48You're looking at names still.
11:49Yeah.
11:50I feel like I would just, like, keep Vivian.
11:52I feel like Vivian is such a fierce name.
11:54Yeah.
11:55Like, I already chose it.
11:56I was feeling that.
11:57Yeah.
11:58Like, you did have a journey coming to that.
11:59Yeah.
12:00Like, Sasha's, like, me on stage and off stage.
12:03Yeah.
12:04Okay.
12:05Well, this is your gown.
12:06I wanted, like, this, like, 70s disco moment.
12:07Okay.
12:08Let me see what this looks like on a model body.
12:10All right.
12:11Go get it.
12:12Let's see this glam, baby.
12:13Bringing to the stage her first time in drag.
12:16Let's hear it for her with her new drag name, Vivian Colby.
12:23Mama.
12:24Look at our golden, bronze, copper goddess.
12:28Sounds like money.
12:29I see it.
12:30It does.
12:31It's giving Cher.
12:32It's giving Halston.
12:33It's giving, I mean, Jerry Hall.
12:35What?
12:36How do you feel, Mama?
12:37I feel great.
12:38I feel gorgeous.
12:39I feel like a lioness.
12:40Ooh.
12:41I love that.
12:48I am in so much unbelievable pain right now.
12:50And she's doing drag right.
12:52Barely move.
12:54That's why a lot of the girls, they look really angry.
12:56Cause it hurts.
12:57Drag hurts.
12:58It really does.
12:59Holy fuck.
13:00I can feel every single follicle on my scalp.
13:02They're all screaming.
13:03Yay.
13:04Thank you all so much for joining us.
13:06It's your favorite drag queen's favorite drag queen with her new favorite drag queen.
13:12Give it up for Vivian Colby.
13:13Take a spin, honey.
13:14Sure.
13:15Yay!
13:16Oh, I hit the thing.
13:17That's my first thing you so much.
13:18Love you so much.
13:19Beautiful.
13:20You're icon.
13:21Yes.
13:22Is that the camera?
13:23Oh.
13:24Mm.
13:25Period.
13:26Hey.
13:27End.
13:28End.
13:29End.
