00:00Good morning. My name is Phil Hewitt, group arts editor at Sussex Newspapers. Lovely this
00:06morning to speak to Clarice Ryan. Now, Clarice, exciting times. You are making your acting debut,
00:11not just the debut with Warburton Players, but acting debut in Hell and High Water, which is in
00:18Warburton Village Hall, July the 11th and the 12th. And you're loving acting as the new discovery.
00:25Why is it so good? Yeah, the people that you meet are so fantastic. So I've been involved in two
00:34shows now with Rustington Players, but this is my first for Warburton. And every person I meet is
00:42kind, experienced, so knowledgeable, funny. I've just met some of the best characters and
00:51it's such a lovely community to be involved in. Absolutely. But quite apart from the people
00:56around you, what's the joy of the actual acting being on stage? Oh gosh. It's a bit of a thrill,
01:02which I've never really experienced before. I mean, it's a bit nerve wracking, but when you get there
01:09and the audience are playing off you and you can feel that they're enjoying themselves, you get such
01:14a warm feeling inside and it's an experience like no other. Absolutely. Well, this sounds like a play
01:19like no other. You are in a fairly posh dining room, which is slowly being flooded by a burst pipe.
01:27That's it. How's that happened?
01:30Yeah. Old house set in sort of British country manner. And it's that father's sort of stoicism and
01:43he's attached to tradition that regardless of circumstances, we will carry on. We won't let
01:51something as trivial as a burst pipe get in the way of our family tradition. But you can see his poor,
01:59long-suffering wife is kind of going along with it. And his children, Philip and Pamela, are
02:05just begrudgingly carrying on for their father's sake.
02:14And you are Pamela, aren't you?
02:17I am Pamela.
02:18What kind of girl is she?
02:19Pamela is, I'd say, rather spoiled. She's clearly been very used to living the good life, but she is married and has her own personal issues.
02:39She's taken up with a rather disreputable gentleman, which the family affectionately, or not so much, called the Lounge Lizard.
02:49And it sounds great fun. And the whole thing is a one-act comedy by Leonard and Pamela, and part of the fun is a plowman's supper and bring your own drinks.
03:01Yeah.
03:01So Warburton Village Hall, July the 11th and 12th at 7pm. Carrie, it's lovely to speak to you and good luck with it all.
03:09Thank you so much. Great to speak to you.
