After a terrifying sleep paralysis episode, I began seeing a figure that wasn’t supposed to exist—red eyes, a 90s haircut, and an eerie, gliding descent down stairs that aren't even there. No matter how many times I changed rooms or houses, he followed. And worse… he wasn’t alone.

00:00There's something about the top corner of your eye, something your brain tries not to see.
00:06Mine hides there.
00:08I first saw him after a bout of sleep paralysis, when my body thawed, but my mind stayed frozen.
00:15He stood at the ceiling's edge, red-eyed and cloaked, gliding backward like he was walking down invisible stairs.
00:23I blamed exhaustion, shadows, perhaps the previous owner, who passed away in this very house.
00:31But he kept showing up, each time a little clearer.
00:35No matter where I moved my head, he glided down.
00:39I stopped sleeping with the lights off.
00:42I bought crosses.
00:43I moved bedrooms.
00:45But nothing stopped him.
00:47And sometimes, God help me, he brings a second one.
00:51The one with teeth.
00:53I felt like a puppet in his hands.
00:56My every move futile.
