Assolna: The coastal village of Assolna in Goa came alive on Sunday with the vibrant celebration of the Sangodd festival, held in conjunction with the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the patron saints of fishermen. Assolna reverberates with fervent jubilation as Sangodd festivities unfold amidst tradition and maritime fervour in coastal Goa.Goa's maritime traditions deeply rooted for centuries, were highlighted alongside spiritual heritage during this vibrant event. Festival fervour erupts vibrantly in Goa's riverine villages and coastal hamlets symbolising faith and unity deeply among tight-knit fishing communities. Boats sailed across river, adorned elaborately with colourful finery and loud fanfare accompanying their passage with traditional dancing. Antone Juze a local resident, shared for Sangodd they festoon fishing boats and congregate quickly for a priest's solemn blessing. Father Romeo Godinho conducted ceremonies, including blessings over canoes with nets, very reverently by St Peter's statue. (With PTI inputs)

01:15waters to the sound of music and dance a special blessing ceremony was also conducted by a priest for the
01:24boats and their crews invoking safety and prosperity through this celebration we pray for all the fishing
01:32community so that God bless their daily living and it is not just activity of fun and frolic and enjoyment
01:42we also have the spiritual activity we had mass in the morning then we had a procession taken to the ward of
01:53Tarivado and Kolevado with the statue of Saint Peter and in the afternoon we had this blessing of Sangor and
02:01blessing on all the canos and on the nets and other fishing equipments the Sangor festival stands as a
02:11vibrant celebration of Goa's maritime legacy and communal harmony drawing locals and visitors alike to honor
02:19shared faith and cultural pride
