00:00Homelessness and Resilience by Sandrine Anterian.
00:03Homelessness rips you open.
00:05You may never quite recover.
00:07It may always stay with you.
00:09Various ex-homeless people keep negative social patterns, and do not manage to adopt new positive
00:16mind frames.
00:17They will carry on feeling and acting like losers.
00:21At various points during my time in temporary accommodation, I stayed in hotels near Heathrow
00:27Airport.
00:28It was there that I enjoyed the pleasurable observation of airplanes.
00:33In their natural environment, they sat there in imposing majesty, behind tall gates, much
00:39like wild animals at a safari expedition, and just like their African counterparts.
00:46They demanded respect, awe and admiration.
00:49Those enormous birds were a fantastic source of philosophical inspiration.
00:53Every time I passed the terminal, and every time I witnessed a departure, the aircrafts
01:00impacted my ailing soul.
01:02With a cold fresh breath of resilience.
01:05How did those massive creatures defy gravity?
01:08Against all odds.
01:09How did they manage to get off the ground, and fly into the sunset?
01:13Anyone who ever started a business, or ever felt down in the dumps, many truly ought to benefit
01:20from those observations.
01:22I did, one day, sit down on the grass by the terminal, with a baguette, some cheese, some
01:29ham, and a mercifully large bottle of Diet Coke.
01:33It was a very reflective time, and an enlightened one.
01:37I thought of my father, of our regular visits to the airport as a family.
01:42I thought of how special it was then, to go and watch those planes take off.
01:47Eating a snack with my daddy.
01:49I thought of miracles of science.
01:52Allowing a 40 ton metal beauty to rise and stabilize herself above human heads.
01:57Allowing her to do so.
01:59When all logical thinking had given up on her.
02:02Gravity is at loss when love and resilience are together.
02:06Sandrine and Tyrion.
