‘Aadhar will be issued only after satisfaction of District Commissioner: CM Himanta

Sivasagar (Assam), June 29, 2025 (ANI): Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Almost the entire adult population has obtained an Aadhaar Card. So, if any adult population in Assam requests an Aadhaar Card now, it raises questions. Henceforth, for adults, Aadhar will be issued only after the satisfaction of the District Commissioner... We have made an exception for tea garden workers because almost 50,000 adults in that sector have yet to obtain their Aadhaar. We want to doubly ensure that any adult person asking for Aadhar is genuinely an Indian citizen.”

00:00I have said that almost all the adult population has already obtained Aadhar card.

00:07Now if any fresh adult population, because whoever will get birth, young kids, they will require Aadhar.

00:17But if a 50-year male suddenly come and asks for Aadhar in Assam, then it raises question.

00:23So what we have decided, that handsport for adult people, Aadhar will be issued only after the satisfaction of district commission.

00:35So far it was issued by the SDC office.

00:40Now we are making it little tougher, so that it can only be issued with the specific satisfaction of the district commission.

00:48And those cases are very few. Only few people come.

00:53And we have also made exception of tea garden workers, because on that sector, almost 50,000 people, adult people, is yet to get Aadhar.

01:03So we have kept them aside.

01:05But for other adult persons, we want to have doubly sure that they are genuine Indian citizens.
