00:00Two people were killed in a five-vehicle crash along Jalan Sungai Rengit, Kota Tinggi, Johor,
00:08on Saturday. Kota Tinggi Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said the accident
00:14occurred at kilometer 66 at around 4.10 p.m. Initial investigations revealed that a 26-year-old
00:21male driver lost control of his car and collided with three vehicles coming from the opposite
00:27direction. The impact caused another vehicle, driven by a 68-year-old man, to lose control and
00:33crash into a lorry. Both the driver, identified as Tai Toon and his 73-year-old passenger,
00:41Lor Ah Kui, suffered serious head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies
00:46were later sent to the forensic unit of Kota Tinggi Hospital for examination and a post-mortem.
00:52Two other drivers, aged 26 and 27, were also injured and received treatment at the same
00:59hospital. Meanwhile, police have detained a 49-year-old lorry driver and a 30-year-old woman
01:05to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 41,
01:10Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
