Bonfire Hill has been handed over to the people of Elstead by a generous benefactor. The hill at the centre of the village was bought by Tim Watkins with the handover taking place on a hot Saturday, culminating with the lighting of a beacon donated by the Rural Life Skills Museum.

00:00On the development of our neighbourhood plan over 10 years ago now, demonstrated
00:06how to those involved the degree of interest in Bonfire Hillridge.
00:13To thank one person in particular who's Tim Watkins standing to my left here.
00:22With this modest token of the community's appreciation of his efforts,
00:29it is a painting of the Bonfire Hill, painted by a local artist, Rick Holmes, who unfortunately
00:38is not able to be here today, but thank Rick for this. But anyway, Tim, on our behalf, thank you very much.
00:47It's marvellous that we're here, views to the Hogsback, overlooking the village, it really is a
00:53wonderful place. And so very happy to be here, very grateful we could do it in this way on this
00:59spot today. Look after it, use it well, and enjoy it as an asset for everyone forever.
