00:05German authorities have arrested a Syrian national on allegations of supporting the
00:09foiled terrorist attack targeting one of Swift's shows. In a press release, authorities identified
00:14the national as Mohammed A., a minor. Prosecutors said that the suspect supported the ideology of
00:19the Islamic State group and that between mid-July and August last year, he was in contact with a
00:25young adult from Austria who was planning a bomb attack on one of Swift's concerts in Vienna.
00:29Germany's prosecutor general said the accused assisted the adolescent in his preparations
00:34by, among other things, translating bomb-making instructions from Arabic and establishing
00:39contact with an IS member abroad via the internet. The accused also provided the adolescent with a
00:44text template for the oath of allegiance to IS, which he used to join the organization.
00:49The arrest comes over 10 months after Swift's three Eris tour shows in Vienna were canceled
00:53due to the terrorist plot targeting her concert. Swift said in a statement after the cancellation,
00:57The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear and a tremendous amount of
01:02guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the
01:07authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives. I was heartened by the
01:12love and unity I sought in the fans who banded together. Several others have been arrested in
01:17Austria following the foiled plot. According to the New York Times, the main suspect in the attack
01:22remains in jail amid the ongoing investigation, while a 17-year-old who was arrested was released
01:27with no charges filed. For much more on this story, go to THR.com. This is the Hollywood Reporter News.
