00:00This U-turn, what is it telling us about Keir Starmer, his leadership and indeed the Labour Party?
00:07I think it tells us that he's been lying, actually, Matt, because he's a lawyer, he's used to reading speeches, he's used to reading tons of papers.
00:16And so clearly his speech writers put this speech together to stop voters coming across to reform from the Labour Party, to appeal to them, to stop hemorrhaging votes.
00:27But I was in Parliament with him from 2015 and he is a globalist, Matt.
00:34We all know it. He doesn't believe in sovereignty, the nation state.
00:40When I was in Parliament with him, he tried every trick in the book, working with the Speaker, Berko, to try and stop Brexit.
00:47And look how, as soon as he's got in power, he's pushed for closer alignment.
00:51And so he's backtracked because, quite frankly, he doesn't believe in controlling illegal migration or migration full stop.

01:03One of the things that I find absolutely remarkable in what he said today is here we have a prime minister in charge of the country,
01:10basically saying he doesn't know what was in his speech.
01:13He wasn't sure what he was reading out.
01:16He was distracted by other events.
01:19There's a question actually here about leadership and judgment, isn't there?
01:24It isn't just about the immigration stuff.
01:25We know the Labour Party doesn't believe in cutting immigration.
01:29We know the Labour Party constantly gaslights and misleads.
01:32But there's something deeper here with Keir Starmer about judgment and about leadership.

01:38But what I also think it is on top of that is if you remember during the election,
01:42I think he said whatever was necessary to try and win and he conned the voters, Matt.
01:48I mean, look how all the Labour literature had the union flag on there and is a globalist.
01:54That's not him.
01:55He'd want the EU flag on there.
01:57And so and now he's in power.
01:59I think he's trying to appeal to voters, but that's not his true self.
02:03So he's got this wrangling and this is why he's messing up.
02:08And I don't think he's ever had the right judgment.
02:10I mean, even when he was a backbench MP, I can't think of one time when I've ever thought
02:16that he's got the right judgment and is in tune with the people.
