00:00The MM2H Consultants Association has called for a past leader to apologize for claiming that the
00:07Malaysia My Second Home program could lead to visa holders eventually becoming citizens and
00:12voting in Malaysia. Its president, Anthony Liu, said the program's policy clearly states that
00:17MM2H passes cannot be converted. Liu added that to his knowledge, no pass holder has had their
00:23visa converted to a permanent residency or citizenship since the program's inception in
00:282002. He said past Sungai Buloh chief Zaharuddin Muhammad had acted irresponsibly when speculating
00:35about the prospect of a Malaysian of Chinese descent becoming prime minister, adding that the statement
00:40was ridiculous. Liu questioned whether Zaharuddin was attempting to undermine and derail the MM2H
00:46program amid concerted efforts by the government and the tourism ministry to promote the initiative
00:51internationally. Yesterday, Zaharuddin attempted to defend his now-deleted Facebook post
00:58which included a photo of Johnny Lim, who was promoted to armed forces left in general earlier
01:02this week. The past man said his post was aimed at raising awareness about the possibility of
01:08MM2H visa holders having children in Malaysia, seeking citizenship and even voting in the country.
