00:00Just tell me, do you love me?
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most intolerable characters
00:10in the history of television who were given more importance than they deserved.
00:14We do go into detail about why we can't stand these characters,
00:18so a spoiler alert is in effect.
00:20You're gonna turn around and you're gonna walk away from me, aren't you?
00:25Number 30. Jessica Day, New Girl
00:30And then she does that.
00:35Is it even surprising that the poster child of quirky heroines who are not like other girls is mildly infuriating?
00:42Jess from New Girl is an iconic TV character, no doubt,
00:46but that doesn't excuse her poor behavior and questionable decisions.
00:49At her worst, she's nosy, self-absorbed, insecure, immature, and inconsiderate.
00:56Jess, just as a reminder, I told you seconds after I found out.
00:58Because you're weak, Nick. Weak.
01:01I agree. Just chill and stop yelling.
01:03Jess, I want to tell you everything. What do you want to know?
01:06I don't know, Cece. How would I know if you're telling the truth?
01:09The word boundaries doesn't belong in her dictionary, and she's not even sorry about it.
01:14We're expected to let it pass as a hallmark of her adorkable personality.
01:18However, it affects her relationships, both romantic and otherwise.
01:22Sure, Jess was never meant to be perfect, but she could have been a lot less annoying.
01:26You think you're better than people and you always try to fix them.
01:28No, I don't.
01:29Yes, you do. You've done it your whole life. It's annoying.
01:32You know what? Yes. Yes. I would like to fix you. No, I would love to fix you.
01:38Number 29. Scrappy-Doo
01:40The Scooby-Doo franchise
01:42Scoob really didn't need a mini foil in the form of a cocky little nephew,
01:47but he got one anyway. Scrappy-Doo was introduced with hopes that he'd boost the rapidly declining
01:52ratings of the franchise. He was created for no other grand reason than to shake things up.
01:58So naturally, his personality wasn't as well-rounded as some of the other Scooby characters.
02:03How's it going, Shaggy?
02:05Just hold on, Scrappy.
02:07Like, I hope this works.
02:09Oh, tick-tock. Time sure flies when you're having fun.
02:12He ended up being used as a plot device, getting the more important characters into trouble.
02:18Sure, his shenanigans created the perfect premise for some episodes,
02:21but the brunt of the audience's annoyance at the poor writing fell on Scrappy.
02:25We do feel bad for the guy, but as viewers, there were simply not many reasons to love him.
02:30Scrappy-Doo-Doo
02:32And Scrappy-Dappy-Doo
02:36Lori Grimes, The Walking Dead
02:41You want to have a conversation about this before you leave?
02:44So you seriously going to go after this guy out there, everything that's going on, huh?
02:47He's right.
02:48He's right.
02:49This is not the time to head off, not today.
02:51You don't always have to be-
02:52I'm not arguing.
02:53There's a difference between purposely flawed characters and ones with no direction.
02:57Lori Grimes falls in the latter category.
03:01She's not presented as a character lacking common sense,
03:04yet somehow makes some of the strangest decisions on the show.
03:08She's also quite hypocritical and manipulative, particularly with Rick and Shane.
03:13She's way too quick to move on to Shane, thinking her husband Rick had passed away.
03:18Then when Rick returns, she convinces him to get rid of her lover before proceeding to condemn him for it.
03:23I think he did it not just to save Carl, but because he loves me.
03:29But you don't know that.
03:30And he thinks that we're supposed to be together.
03:34She takes pride in being a mother, but would probably get Child Protective Services called on her for how careless she is with Carl.
03:41Let's not even get into that random car crash.
03:44The writers truly did her dirty.
03:46He's growing up in a world where he needs a father like you.
03:50Around, alive, not running off solving everybody else's problems.
03:53It's not just his problem I'm trying to solve.
03:55Number 27.
03:57Kate Austin.
03:58Lost.
03:59You know a character's cooked when even the actress playing her is tired of her.
04:03Kate starts out as a character with immense scope for growth and development.
04:08However, as Lost progresses, she becomes more of an afterthought.
04:12The show built significant hype around her past, but hardly touched on how it cast a shadow over her present.
04:18Every time I feel something for him, I see you, Wayne.
04:25And it makes me sick.
04:27She had little to no agency of her own, but was needlessly reckless and couldn't stay true to her motivations.
04:34Most of her screen time was dedicated to the insufferable love triangle she developed with Jack and Sawyer,
04:39until she faded into the background.
04:42Actress Evangeline Lilly was so fed up with playing Kate that she once sent her script flying in disappointment.
04:49What a waste.
04:50He tried to kill us.
04:52What are you trying to do?
04:57Bye, Jack.
04:59Number 26.
05:01Debbie Gallagher.
05:02Shameless.
05:03There's no denying that this character had a hard life.
05:05Most of her problematic actions, such as her obsession with Maddie, her behavior towards Seema, and how she manipulated Derek with her pregnancy, can be attributed to this.
05:16After all, she was young and didn't know better.
05:19However, as she grows into an adult, she lands herself in even hotter waters, taking down others with her.
05:25I'm a good girl.
05:27Yeah, I know.
05:28Because your mom has done a very good job teaching you right from wrong.
05:31But tomorrow, I need you to be a very bad girl when we go to that mean old witch Peppa's house, okay?
05:38She chooses terrible partners, is morally corrupt, financially irresponsible, a neglectful mom to her daughter Franny, and downright ignorant.
05:48No one knew where I could get a right-headed toddler for rent.
05:51However, what made her a true representation of the show's title was how indifferent she was to the harm she caused others.
05:58Debbie's character is meant to be loathed, so the writers didn't even bother to redeem her.
06:03So I guess I owe you a check.
06:05I guess you do.
06:06Number 25, Arthur Reed.
06:09Arthur.
06:10This anthropomorphized aardvark was quite a problem child.
06:15Sure, his behaviors are supposed to help young viewers discern right from wrong, but he crosses way too many lines for comfort.
06:21He was a terrible older brother to DW, resorting to violence against her, and was often seen taunting his friends.
06:28I told you not to touch it!
06:36He's too deceptive and prejudiced to be a role model, even though he does eventually learn his lessons.
06:43Obviously, these aren't grave offenses for a prepubescent boy with poor judgment.
06:48However, fans can't help but roll their eyes at him because he's perched atop a moral high horse.
06:53Perhaps the famous clenched fist meme Arthur birthed best describes how we feel about him.
06:59Meta, right?
07:00You can't talk!
07:01DW, that's enough brushing.
07:03We have to be at the doctor's in half an hour.
07:05And Arthur, be nice.
07:08Yes, mom.
07:09Number 24, Mike Ross, Suits.
07:13Disliking this character is a rite of passage.
07:15There comes a time in every Suits fan's life when they realize that the genius fake lawyer they fell in love with was the embodiment of privilege.
07:23Don't get us wrong, he's incredibly competent.
07:26However, his disregard for everyone he puts at risk in his fraudulent career, especially his clients, makes him impossible to root for.
07:34Is this what you want?
07:35Did I hate you?
07:36Did you make me do this?
07:38We lose everything because of you!
07:41Not only does he wrongfully occupy a job that could have gone to a qualified individual, but he's also self-righteous about it.
07:48His photographic memory adds novelty to the show at first, but quickly becomes an overused shtick.
07:55Mike's relationship with Rachel isn't the healthiest either.
07:58Ultimately, his God complex, mixed with his victim mentality, makes him unbearable.
08:04I'm coming back to work tomorrow.
08:08If you can't accept that, then whatever you were going to say to me won't matter.
08:14Number 23, Jughead Jones, Riverdale.
08:18I'm weird. I'm a weirdo.
08:21I don't fit in, and I don't want to fit in.
08:25Have you ever seen me without this stupid hat on?
08:27That's weird.
08:28When this one says he's a weirdo, believe him.
08:31Actor Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead in Riverdale, admitted to taking the role because he thought the character was utterly pretentious, which in turn made him relatable.
08:41From an actor's perspective, that must have been an interesting challenge to take on.
08:45However, for audiences, we couldn't help but cringe at his wannabe tendencies.
08:50That's a primal betrayal.
08:52Why do you hate your birthday so much, Jug?
08:55PTSD from when I was a kid?
08:57He tried so hard to look like a deep thinker that he often missed what was right in front of him.
09:02His intellect hardly improved his relationships, and he lacked empathy.
09:06We all know someone like this in our lives, and we probably don't like them either.
09:10We're not shedding our skins.
09:12We're lying low in the tall grass.
09:17Number 22.
09:19Lucas Scott, One Tree Hill
09:21We realize we're in feather-ruffling territory here, but it needs to be said.
09:26Basketball wasn't the only thing Lucas Scott was good at playing in One Tree Hill.
09:30He made his two love interests, Peyton and Brooke, run through hoops for his love, ruining their friendship.
09:36He let popularity get to his head, and immediately developed a superiority complex while selling himself as the nice guy.
09:43Part of me feels like, ever since we got back together, you've just been waiting, waiting to push me away.
09:50Oh, great. You kissed Peyton again, and I'm pushing you away.
09:55He was way too controlling over Haley, leaves his fiancee Lindsay for Peyton,
09:59and is overall a self-serving serial cheater who isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is.
10:05No wonder he thought hiding his heart condition would be a good idea,
10:08without ever considering the feelings of those he was hurting in the process.
10:12You never took the time to explain it all.
10:15So what are you gonna do?
10:18What happens next?
10:22On her back.
10:23Number 21.
10:25Joe Goldberg, You
10:26We can get past this. We can get past anything.
10:30I know you do. I can see it in your eyes.
10:32No, just let me go, Joe!
10:34Don't tell me. You don't love me.
10:35I don't!
10:36Some of the best TV characters are anti-heroes,
10:39like Walter White from Breaking Bad or Dexter from the eponymous show.
10:43Joe Goldberg doesn't belong in that league.
10:46Arguably one of the most toxic men on TV,
10:49he manages to have fans wrapped around his finger,
10:52despite being a raging red flag.
10:54You can blame the actor Penn Badgley and his charisma for that.
10:57However, once the Delulu wears off,
11:00Joe doesn't have enough redeeming qualities to offset his murderous streak.
11:04You're unusually grateful today.
11:07His crimes may be justified by his own twisted logic,
11:10but are senseless to the audience.
11:12After a certain point,
11:14you end up watching the show out of spite,
11:16just to see Joe suffer the consequences of his actions.
11:19Thankfully, the finale delivers on that.
11:21My punishment is even worse than I imagined.
11:27The loneliness. Oh, my God.
11:30Number 20.
11:31Allison De Laurentiis.
11:33Pretty Little Liars.
11:34There are plenty of flawed characters on this show,
11:37yet Allie stands out among the rest.
11:39No one wants you here.
11:41You're wrong, Mona.
11:42Just like before.
11:44Everyone wants to be my friend,
11:46and that's what you're afraid of.
11:47The premise is initially centered around her disappearance and alleged death,
11:51and during her absence,
11:53flashbacks show her manipulative and cruel nature.
11:56She was a full-blown jerk in high school.
11:59Just look at how badly she treated everyone,
12:01from foes Jenna and Mona to supposed besties Hannah,
12:05Aria, Emily, and Spencer.
12:07I thought you were my friend.
12:09Don't you get it?
12:10I'm trying to help you do the right thing.
12:12When she eventually reappears,
12:13we hope she'll want a real fresh start,
12:16but a lot of the same patterns remain.
12:18She often acts high and mighty,
12:21and selfless isn't necessarily a word we'd use to describe her.
12:25Granted, she grows to some extent,
12:27but we'd also say Emily in particular deserved better
12:30than the romantic relationship they had.
12:33And trust me, if I'm kissing you,
12:34it's because it's practice for the real thing.
12:36Number 19.
12:37Bella Malhotra.
12:39The Sex Lives of College Girls.
12:41Bella starts off as a naive, ambitious girl,
12:44who's learning and growing through her mistakes.
12:47But in season two,
12:49her character development takes a turn
12:51as her behavior goes from lovably unsophisticated
12:54to frustratingly self-destructive and selfish.
12:57No one wants to work with me.
13:00I have a 1.8 GPA.
13:04I broke an amazing guy's heart by being selfish.
13:08Throughout the episodes,
13:09she joins other women in starting their own comedy publication
13:12that she eventually gets booted from
13:15because she's not a team player.
13:17She also notably cheats on her boyfriend, Eric.
13:19Okay, I know I messed up, but I can explain.
13:22I don't want to hear it.
13:22We're done.
13:22What a jerk, right?
13:27Yelling at a woman like that?
13:29Her actions and antics are maddening to watch.
13:32Indeed, she proves she's learned nothing
13:35from her time at the Toxic Cthulhu magazine
13:37and navigating her relationships the season prior.
13:41We aren't sure what's next for her,
13:43but we hope it's better than this.
13:45All I want is for people to like me,
13:47but I just keep hurting people instead.
13:51Number 18, Allie McBeal.
13:54Allie McBeal.
13:55This show's titular character
13:57just so happens to be its most annoying.
13:59Even if I get past all my problems,
14:01I'm just gonna go out and get new ones.
14:07I like being a mess.
14:09It's who I am.
14:10As a lawyer in Boston in the mid-90s and early 2000s,
14:13Allie has the opportunity to show what it means
14:15to be a career woman at the turn of the century.
14:18Instead of doing so in a meaningful manner,
14:20she comes off as whiny and needy a lot of the time.
14:24Let's have it.
14:24Have what?
14:25Your say.
14:26Let's have it.
14:27I don't have one.
14:28What?
14:28I don't even know what your say was about,
14:30so how can I have a response?
14:31But you didn't know that I didn't have a response
14:32when you stormed out.
14:33Though it's possible they were trying to make her relatable,
14:36her less than rational decisions in life and love
14:39make it hard to take her side.
14:41Plus, presumably for the sake of humor,
14:43she gives off an unprofessional vibe
14:45and appears unsteady,
14:47which is not a good look,
14:48especially in retrospect.
14:50It's not that I object to sadness,
14:52it's just whenever I get depressed,
14:55I raise my hemlines.
14:56If things don't change,
14:58I'm bound to be arrested.
14:59Number 17.
15:01Tori Vega.
15:02Victorious.
15:04Really?
15:05You can't think of one thing that you like about me?
15:08I like when you're sad.
15:12When you're surrounded by such an awesome cast,
15:14sometimes your flaws stand out a bit more.
15:17Tori might be the main character in Victorious,
15:20but she's far from the most talented
15:21and even farther from the most likable.
15:24One of the first things she does is kiss Beck
15:26right in front of his girlfriend Jade.
15:28True, Jade is billed as a mean girl,
15:30but this revenge plot takes things a bit too far.
15:34As if I care what you think.
15:35You better watch yourself.
15:36Can't take it?
15:37Don't push me.
15:38Eat your pants.
15:38But more than that,
15:39if we're talking talent,
15:41the characters surrounding Tori outshine her.
15:44She's definitely a good singer,
15:45but when you're standing next to the likes of Ariana Grande,
15:48it's a bit hard to compete.
15:49Yeah!
16:00Number 16, Zoe Brooks, Zoe 101.
16:05Hey, good luck in the game.
16:06I hope you win, but I can't root for you.
16:09Even though her name is in the title of the show,
16:11we'd say she shouldn't necessarily have been the star.
16:14Most of Zoe's friends are far more interesting,
16:17have more depth,
16:18and roll their eyes about a thousand times less often than her.
16:21Do you A, get a new best friend,
16:25B, push her down a flight of stairs,
16:27or C-
16:27It doesn't say that.
16:29While Zoe starts out as a sweet kid finding her way in a new school,
16:32she becomes increasingly bratty,
16:35and annoyingly good at practically everything.
16:38Everyone seems to be obsessed with her,
16:40despite her pretty standard personality,
16:42and she kind of seems emotionless throughout big moments.
16:46Zoe 101's initial run ended up only lasting four seasons,
16:49but that's probably for the best.
16:52I don't know.
16:54There's just something in the way.
16:59Number 15, Ross Geller, Friends.
17:03As much as this legendary character is beloved,
17:05he's also deeply flawed,
17:07which is where most of the comedy comes from.
17:09For someone whose core personality trait is his smarts,
17:12he certainly lacks emotional intelligence.
17:15I haven't had sex in a very long time.
17:18He's constantly patronizing others,
17:22refuses to take accountability for his objectionable choices,
17:25has a brittle ego, and treats women poorly.
17:28From breaking up with Bonnie because of her hair,
17:31or the lack thereof,
17:32to hitting on his cousin and cheating on Rachel,
17:35Ross is a hot mess.
17:37We were on a break!
17:39His insecurity about Rachel translates into extreme possessiveness,
17:43and he constantly undermines and interferes in her career.
17:47We could go on, but you get the point.
17:49A character like Ross wouldn't earn too many laughs from a modern audience.
17:53Come on, Rach, you don't have, what, 10 minutes?
17:55I don't have 10 minutes.
17:56What, Sophie, does she have 10 minutes?
17:58Hey, Ross, I told you, I don't.
18:00Don't yell at me, okay?
18:01This is the most I've seen you all week.
18:03Number 14, Elena Gilbert, The Vampire Diaries.
18:07Elena has some moments of heroic selflessness,
18:10but they're few and far between.
18:12After she becomes a vampire at the end of season 3,
18:15she grows increasingly self-centered.
18:17This is the truth, Stefan.
18:19I don't want to live here anymore.
18:21I don't want these sketches.
18:24I don't want this Xbox.
18:25We know she goes through a lot,
18:27but she often ends up coping in the worst possible ways,
18:30and it gets frustrating.
18:32What's more, everyone else's actions seem to magically be justified,
18:36no matter how horrible they are,
18:38as long as they result in saving Elena's life.
18:41Her turbulent love triangle with the Salvatore brothers
18:44isn't the most likable thing in the world, either.
18:47Does Elena enjoy having both of you worship at her altar?
18:50To be fair, they're to blame for that, too.
18:53Still, Elena exiting after season 6,
18:55and only briefly returning,
18:57gave everyone a much-needed break.
19:00Things are gonna be awfully dull around here without you.
19:03No, they're not, Damon,
19:04because you're not gonna sit around waiting for me.
19:06Number 13, Otis Milburn, Sex Education.
19:10Why are you so angry?
19:11Because we've been friends since we were 9 years old,
19:14and you've abandoned me for someone that you've known for 5 seconds.
19:17It seems to be a common theme
19:19that a lot of the worst main characters
19:21start off on the right foot,
19:22but go downhill as the series goes on.
19:25Otis Milburn is no exception.
19:27He's insensitive towards other people's feelings,
19:30and his treatment of Ola and Maeve
19:32leaves a bad taste in our mouths as well,
19:35especially when he lashes out at both of them while intoxicated.
19:39I think it's good that I'm not going out with either of them,
19:42because I think I deserve a whole lot more.
19:45Thank you for coming.
19:47Good night.
19:48One of the worst examples of his disregard for other people
19:51is when he abandons Eric,
19:52who's meant to be his best friend,
19:54on his birthday, leaving him to get hurt.
19:57It is okay to admit we're lost.
19:58Number 12. Jenna Hamilton
20:01Awkward.
20:02Karma had been a bitch, and so had I,
20:05which meant there was no room for a pity committee.
20:08I deserved the bum rap and the pain that came along with it.
20:11While other characters on this series
20:12tend to grow and improve as time goes on,
20:15Jenna becomes more and more unlikable.
20:18She lacks emotion, is narcissistic,
20:20and behaves in a selfish manner
20:22while playing with the emotions of the boys who are into her,
20:25and creating her own cacophony of problems.
20:28There was no way I was the butt of everyone's joke.
20:31No one cared what happened with me and Maddie.
20:34She cheats on Maddie and repeatedly hurts him and Jake.
20:37To make matters worse,
20:39the third season sees her falling in with the wrong crowd
20:41and becoming insufferable.
20:44So it's hard to believe or root for her
20:46when her friends welcome her back with open arms,
20:48and she and Maddie wind up together.
20:50Is it real, or are you just trying to get laid in this closet again?
20:55Couldn't be more real.
20:56Number 11.
20:58Serena Vanderwoodson
20:59Gossip Girl
21:00While Gossip Girl is the true villain of the show,
21:03Serena Vanderwoodson is arguably an anti-hero.
21:06Glamorous, sexy, beautiful.
21:08Selfish, insensitive, shallow.
21:10Her entitled behavior lingers over all of her questionable actions.
21:15Who could forget her sleeping with Nate
21:16while he was with her best friend Blair?
21:18Or in the end,
21:19when she wants everyone to forgive Dan for being Gossip Girl,
21:22and marries him despite everything he's done.
21:25Blair often feels like Serena steals attention everywhere she goes,
21:29despite not deserving it.
21:31And we get it.
21:32As a main character,
21:33she's often messy and hard to watch,
21:36as she constantly paves the way for her own downfall,
21:39and rarely thinks about anyone but herself.
21:41Why would I try to steal something from you that I pushed you to do?
21:45Because you take everything from me!
21:47Nate, my mom!
21:48Blair!
21:48You can't even help it!
21:49It's who you are!
21:53I just thought maybe this time it would be different.
21:56I should have known I'd be wrong.
21:57Sabrina Spellman is a part witch with a lot of potential to grow as a character,
22:07but she falls flat in the end,
22:09as her development winds up taking a step back.
22:12What now?
22:13Well, you've been charged with a rather antiquated offense, dearest.
22:18A breach of promise.
22:19She's flawed and makes mistakes, and that's fine,
22:22but she rarely grows by facing the consequences of her actions.
22:25Like when she resurrects Tommy.
22:28The plan is ultimately a failure,
22:29because she thinks the rules don't apply to her.
22:32There are two limbos, Sabrina.
22:33One for witches, one for mortals.
22:35Tommy Kinkle is in mortal limbo,
22:36and it is simply impossible for witches to cross over into mortal limbo.
22:39But I'm not a witch.
22:40I'm a half-witch, which means I can cross over.
22:44You're assuming?
22:44She's also naive,
22:46which causes her to do things impulsively
22:48when she should be slowing down and looking at the big picture.
22:52Unfortunately, the show ends without us ever seeing her
22:54get a meaningful redemption arc.
22:57Once born to the fray.
22:58Right, guys?
23:00Number 9.
23:01Emily Cooper.
23:02Emily in Paris.
23:04Emily embodies every stereotype associated with Americans in Europe,
23:08living in France and initially making a little effort
23:10to embrace the language or culture.
23:12It's a problem.
23:14Well, I'm going to take a class,
23:15but je parle un peu français already.
23:18Well, perhaps it's better not to try.
23:19Sure, that stuff gets better as the series progresses,
23:22but it's still cringy.
23:24She's also irritatingly successful in marketing,
23:26where she lands big clients and is given lots of obligations,
23:30but is also somehow able to jaunt around Paris as much as she wants.
23:34Get back to America.
23:35No, I think we're done here for now, all right?
23:38But my DMs are open, and I will see you there.
23:42Merci!
23:43While she could have been portrayed as naive
23:45and bright-eyed while navigating a new country,
23:47everything works out just a little too easily for her.
23:51And it can be super annoying to watch.
23:54Also, she did sleep with her friend's ex.
23:56Sorry, Em, we don't forget.
23:59Oh my God, this is being all gone.
24:00It's not going on.
24:03It was nothing.
24:04Number 8.
24:05Zach Morris.
24:06Saved by the Bell.
24:08Please, call me Principal Zach.
24:11Look at all your grades seem to be here,
24:13but your files don't say anything about, uh...
24:17Boyfriends.
24:19Don't be fooled by that cute smile
24:21and those charming fourth wall breaks.
24:24As far as we're concerned,
24:25Zach Morris is a little bit of a narcissist
24:27and a whole lot of a creep.
24:30Throughout the series,
24:31his favorite pastimes include being gross to women
24:33and being a pretty bad friend.
24:35In order to feed Lisa's shopping obsession, for instance,
24:38he starts charging people a dollar to kiss her.
24:42I feel so, so cheap.
24:45Lisa, you're not cheap.
24:47Made $36.
24:49And once in college,
24:51he impersonates a professor in order to get a date.
24:54But some of Zach's worst offenses
24:55come with how he repeatedly mistreats Slater,
24:58notably perpetuating the idea that he's violent.
25:01And if we're being honest,
25:02we're Team Slater.
25:04I, um, just came by to wish you guys a great senior year.
25:07But I think I'll find someplace else to sit.
25:10Number seven, Rory Gilmore, Gilmore Girls.
25:14Look, I'm not going back.
25:16I just wanted you to know.
25:17Message sent.
25:21Watching a beloved character become a terrible one
25:23is never easy.
25:25But in Rory Gilmore's case,
25:27it was almost unbearable.
25:29Rory starts out as your typical precocious teenager.
25:32She's charming, smart, funny,
25:33and everything else you want out of a main character.
25:36But once she gets to Yale,
25:37things take a terrible turn.
25:40She starts making one mistake after another.
25:42She sleeps with Dean, even though he's married,
25:45drops out of school,
25:46and lets her relationship with her mother, Lorelai,
25:48deteriorate.
25:49Be sure to send me a change of address card.
25:51Grandma can print them out for you
25:52with a little fleur-de-lis.
25:53I'm not supposed to be talking to outsiders.
25:55Fine.
25:56You and Luke getting engaged
25:58and not telling me about it?
25:59You hurt me.
26:00Back at you.
26:02But the worst part of it all
26:03is that for the longest time,
26:05Rory doesn't seem to think
26:06there's anything wrong with this behavior.
26:08She winds up seeming like a far cry
26:10from the girl we once knew.
26:11Exactly.
26:12I mean, where do you get off acting all morally superior?
26:15That's not what I intended to say at all.
26:17You clearly think you are.
26:19Why?
26:19Because you read Ironweed?
26:21Because you saw Norma Ray?
26:22Number six, Piper Chapman.
26:24Orange is the new black.
26:26These are kind of like Toms.
26:27Who's Tom?
26:28Toms are shoes.
26:30When you buy a pair,
26:31the company gives another two a child in need.
26:33They're great.
26:34And they come in lots of different colors.
26:36Unlike Rory,
26:37this character was annoying from the jump.
26:40Piper Chapman's whiny nature
26:41worked for Orange is the new black at first.
26:44She's an upper class white woman headed for prison,
26:46so she's bound to be a bit snobby.
26:48But as the show goes on,
26:50we learn so much about the other women in their stories,
26:52and Piper only becomes more insufferable.
26:55The truth catches up with you in here, Dina.
26:59And it's the truth that's gonna make you her bitch.
27:01Next to all the other inmates at Litchfield Penitentiary,
27:06she's so clearly the worst,
27:07it's hard to understand why she was picked
27:09as the main character in the first place.
27:11We would all definitely rather spend more time
27:13with the characters surrounding her
27:15than hearing about her panty-selling venture.
27:18You are supporting a local business,
27:21keeping jobs right here at home.
27:24I'm like American Apparel.
27:25Number five, Carrie Bradshaw.
27:28Sex and the City.
27:29Okay, yeah.
27:33Maybe I've dated men who are wrong for me,
27:35but who hasn't?
27:36But the thing that I have in common is you.
27:42What's your point?
27:43For someone with a column about sex and relationships,
27:46Carrie Bradshaw sure seems to be bad at them.
27:49But her romantic entanglements
27:51were far from her worst transgressions on Sex and the City.
27:54For one, she's a pretty deplorable friend.
27:56In one episode, Miranda asks Carrie to come help her
27:59after she hurts her neck.
28:01Miranda's neck is out.
28:02She can't move.
28:03And I'm just, I'm, I'm worried that it's too late
28:06for me to cancel my meeting.
28:08I'll go check on Miranda for you.
28:11You would?
28:12She delegates the task to Aiden
28:14instead of going over herself.
28:15And he finds Miranda in a pretty humiliating situation
28:18in the bathroom.
28:19And speaking of Aiden,
28:20we'd be remiss not to mention
28:22how terribly she treated him too.
28:24Leave it to Carrie to drive away the only good guy
28:26she ever had.
28:28If you don't want to marry me right now,
28:31you'll never want to marry me.
28:34That's not true.
28:36I think it is.
28:38Number four, Ted Mosby, How I Met Your Mother.
28:41I think I like your nose.
28:45I think I'm in love with you.
28:47What?
28:48What?
28:49What?
28:49There's nothing worse than the TV nice guy
28:52who's actually the opposite of nice.
28:54We'll get to a worse offender later,
28:56but for now, give it up for Ted Mosby.
28:59The show frames his over-the-top
29:01and obsessive nature as romantic,
29:03but in hindsight, it's kind of just plain toxic.
29:06For example, Robin and Ted might be
29:08one of the main couples on the show,
29:10yet he always tries to move way too fast
29:12and aggressively, getting swept up
29:14in his fantasy of them being meant to be.
29:16So he often neglects to consider her needs and wants.
29:20Look, Ted, I don't know where I'm going to be in five years.
29:23And I don't want to know.
29:23I want my life to be an adventure.
29:27We have an expiration date, don't we?
29:30Yet this type of problematic behavior continues
29:33even when she says she wants to be friends.
29:36And long after they break up.
29:38We are truly appalled.
29:40I know it took guts to tell me you love me.
29:42And I know how much it hurt that I didn't say it back,
29:46but damn it, this sucks for me too.
29:51Number three, Hannah Horvath, Girls.
29:54I don't want to freak you out,
29:56but I think that I may be the voice of my generation.
30:02When someone like Marnie is a character on your show,
30:05it's hard to imagine that things could get much more annoying.
30:08Enter Hannah Horvath,
30:10proving that you should never speak too soon.
30:12The main character on Girls
30:13is one of the more selfish ones on this list,
30:16putting her own not-so-awful problems above everything else.
30:20Her behavior impacts her friendships,
30:22her romantic relationships, and even her work life.
30:25And I'm not showing any signs of changing.
30:27Look, all you've ever done
30:29is talk about the fact that you are changing,
30:31that you want to change, self-improvement, all that bullshit,
30:33so I get on board with it,
30:34and thus all you've done for the past couple of years
30:36is disappoint me.
30:37Well, then maybe you should lower your expectations.
30:39On the occasions where Shoshana called Hannah on her self-obsession,
30:44it felt like she was speaking for the entire audience.
30:46Her words are harsh, but oh-so-true and necessary.
30:50I have come to realize how exhausting and narcissistic
30:54and ultimately boring this whole dynamic is,
30:56and I finally feel brave enough
30:58to create some distance for myself.
31:01Number two, Dawson Leary, Dawson's Creek.
31:04Why torture yourself?
31:05I'm an artist.
31:05Torture is a prerequisite.
31:07Are you coming or not?
31:08I think it threw, Dawson.
31:10I mean, this little movie plot you've got going
31:11may not end the way you want it to.
31:13I'm the one who should be kissing her, Joey,
31:14not some J.Crew ad.
31:15Ah, here's the nice guy to end all nice guys.
31:19Dawson Leary was sold to us as a boy-next-door type
31:22and billed as the love interest to Joey Potter.
31:25But from the moment Dawson's Creek began,
31:27every single word that came out of the title character's mouth
31:30made him less and less likable.
31:33For one thing, he's a bad friend and boyfriend to Joey.
31:36Beyond that, he's downright terrible to Pacey,
31:39often using their so-called friendship
31:41so he can feel better about himself.
31:43You and you're not dissecting you two's relationship on the page,
31:46just like every other narcissistic writer through history.
31:49Just tell me what you think.
31:52I think it's dark.
31:53It's obtuse.
31:54It's no wonder the writers eventually ended up
31:56having Pacey and Joey be the main couple.
31:59And it's really no wonder
32:00the only remnants left of Dawson on the internet
32:03are crying memes.
32:04All right, just go.
32:07Go.

32:30Number 1.
32:31Rachel Berry, Glee
32:32If characters got gold stars
32:41for being the absolute worst,
32:43Rachel Berry would have a binder full of them.
32:45The Glee Club is known for being made up of misfits,
32:48but we think the reasons Rachel has trouble fitting in
32:51have more to do with her mean girl streak
32:53than anything else.
32:54She's convinced that she's destined for stardom
32:56and thinks that gives her the right to belittle others.
32:59My talents are wasted in this club.
33:01My star shines too bright
33:02and I think you're threatened by it.
33:03Take that off!
33:05I'm tired of this, Rachel.
33:06You have a terrible attitude.
33:08You're a lousy sport
33:09and it is not okay anymore.
33:10She's not afraid to sabotage anybody
33:12who seems like a threat to her either.
33:14We all remember what she does to Sunshine in season two.
33:17Tell me this isn't true, Rachel.
33:19She could have died.
33:20I didn't send her to an active crack house.
33:22Besides, how did you guys find out anyways?
33:24And that's seeing nothing of her cringeworthy behavior.
33:27Inappropriate crush on Mr. Schuster, anyone?
33:30Rachel spent the majority of her run on Glee being awful
33:33and we could not miss her less.
33:35I think that you actually found a way
33:37to offend every special interest group in this country.
33:41And I don't want to point fingers,
33:43but I have to at you because you're the face of it, okay?
33:46I don't know what I'm gonna do.
33:48Do you sympathize with any of these characters?
33:51Let us know in the comments.
33:52But the way you owned up to everything,
33:55it just showed me how much you've grown, you know?
34:02I suppose.
