Hartlepool schoolboy's 3D printing business takes off

Bobby Lee, aged 12, talks us through the making of one of his popular dragon toys

00:00So, Bobbie, can you just talk us through what you're making here?

00:03So, this is one of my dragons, like this one, in our new gold colour,

00:10which, it takes about five-ish hours,

00:16but the product that comes out of them is absolutely amazing.

00:21To make something, you take spills of filament, like this one.

00:25This is our black and purple two-tones,

00:32which transitions from black to purple.

00:35And we load it into there and put it into these,

00:39and it'll push it through, and then you click print,

00:43and it'll shoot out the excess that was left inside

00:45into one of these buckets here, like that.

00:48And it should, eventually, just start printing that.

01:01And we've called it the Malcolm 2.0.

01:04It's more based around the littler kids

01:08because the original Malcolm was quite spiky,

01:12so the Malcolm 2.0 has been brutal down a lot

01:16and shouldn't be quite as sharp as the other one.
