00:04in the game of golf. Major winner, Ryder Cup winner and world number one, the sky is the

00:09limit for the charismatic Spaniard. Let's learn more about him with 10 facts in this

00:14After attending the 1997 Ryder Cup hosted at Valderrama, his parents took up golf. John

00:20then followed in their footsteps, getting lessons when he was 6 or 7 years old. He developed

00:24a lot of his skill at the Centro Nacional de Golf in Madrid.

00:29From an early age, his father pushed him to move to the United States because he believed

00:32that's where the future of golf lay. As a result, he eventually attended Arizona State University

00:38where he collected 11 collegiate victories. This ranks second in the school's history

00:43behind one Phil Mickelson who had 16 wins.

00:46As a youngster, Rahm played a lot of sports, many of them involving either a racket or a

00:51paddle. One of them was Pallotta, a bass game that's a cross between hi-li and racquetball.

00:56He also learned Kung Fu as a child to defend himself after getting into fights during class.

01:01Rahm's mental coach is Josebat Del Carmen, a man who has been a basketball player, a debt

01:06businessman, a professional golfer and a bomb technician. As a mental coach, he has worked

01:11with soccer and basketball teams, CEOs and business leaders. Quite the character.

01:17At the 2020 Masters, Rahm made two hole-in-ones in two days. During the practice rounds, he

01:23made one on the fourth hole and the next day, an ace came on the 16th after skipping the

01:28ball over the water.

01:29John Rahm is married to Kelly Cahill, a former javelin thrower at Arizona State University.

01:34They got married in Spain in December 2019 and they welcomed their first child, Kepa, in

01:38April 2021. In 2022, they announced they were expecting a second baby boy.

01:43Up until March 2022, Rahm held the record for being the number one-ranked male amateur in

01:48the world for the longest period of time. Overall, he held that distinction for 60 weeks between

01:532015 and 2016. This has since been broken by Japanese star Keita Nakajima.

02:00John Rahm is currently a member of Whisper Rock Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona. It's a Tom Fazio

02:04design that has proved very popular amongst tour pros, with other members including Phil

02:08Mickelson, Paul Casey, Fred Couples and Martin Keimer.

02:12Adam Hayes became John Rahm's caddy when he turned pro in June 2016. Hayes began his

02:18career caddying on the LPGA tour and went on to work with the likes of Webb Simpson and Jason

02:22Duff not on tour.

02:24When Rahm was a freshman enrolling at Arizona State University, he barely knew any English,

02:28but he said he listened to a lot of rap in English to help himself learn. Two of his favourite

02:32songs were Eminem, Love The Way You Lie and Kendrick Lamar, Swimming Pools.
