During debate on the House floor, Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC) spoke in support of the Republican proposal for F2026 military construction and veterans affairs appropriations.

00:00Mr. Speaker, I yield two minutes to the gentleman from North Carolina, Dr. Murphy.
00:08The gentleman is recognized.
00:09Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
00:10Today I rise in grateful support of H.R. 3942, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs
00:16and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY2026.
00:20As the proud representative of over 76,000 veterans, as well as Camp Lejeune, Military
00:25Air Corps, Cherry Point and New River, it's my honor to advocate for federal funding on
00:31their behalf.
00:32I proudly support FY2026's appropriation to increase the VA's budget by 10 percent to
00:38ensure that our veteran service members and veterans receive the resources that they need
00:44and, more importantly, that they deserve.
00:46North Carolina is proud to be called home by hundreds of thousands of activity members
00:50of our military and those retired from our armed services.
00:54I'm grateful the Veterans Second Amendment Protection Act was included in this package,
00:58as well as supporting language for the F-35 Sustainment Center and utilities upgrade for
01:02future F-35 squadrons.
01:04I wholeheartedly support this legislation.
01:07We live in a dangerous world now.
01:09We had an administration before that wanted to make things about social justice in our military.
01:14Military is about defending the rights and freedom of this country, and I am proud that
01:19this administration and this Congress is going to support the military in keeping us safe
01:23and free.
