00:47Hello, welcome to Formasajo. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Lesor Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:52We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:00The Parliament of Iran approved on Wednesday a bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
01:15A member of the presidency of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Aresba Salimi, announced the decision and pointed out that it will be sent to the Supreme National Security Council for its approval.
01:24He rejected that the organization did not condemn the attacks against the nuclear facilities of the Persian country and emphasized that this measure seeks to prohibit the entry of inspectors of the agency to the country and to sanction those who allow their entry.
01:39He also emphasized the intention to continue working on nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in spite of the threats and recent attacks by Israel and the United States.
01:48An early U.S. intelligence assessment indicated that U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities failed to destroy the core components of Tehran's atomic program.
02:04The report indicated that the nuclear facilities at Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan did not suffer as much damage as the White House expected, being limited mainly to surface structures, including the site's electrical infrastructure.
02:16The argument exposed that much of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium was moved to secret nuclear facilities prior to the United States' attacks.
02:23The report shows that the primary findings contradict President Donald Trump's initial statements that the facilities were completely destroyed.
02:33The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs denounced that people in the Gaza Strip are being killed while trying to get food.
02:57The director of OSHA, Jonathan Whittle, pointed out that trying to survive in Gaza becomes a death sentence.
03:06In a briefing, Whittle warned that Israel is carrying out massacre and is using hunger as a weapon.
03:12The organization denounced that Israel's militarized humanitarian assistance mechanisms contradict international norms.
03:18Israel's militarized humanitarian assistance mechanism is in contradiction with international standards on aid distribution.
03:31It endangers civilians and contributes to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
03:39The weaponization of food for civilians, in addition to restricting or preventing their access to life-sustaining services, constitutes a war crime and under certain circumstances may constitute elements of other crimes under international law.
03:58The representative of the UN Humanitarian Rights Affairs Office urged an end to the attack on people seeking to obtain food and to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
04:08The Israeli military must stop shooting at people trying to get food.
04:14Israel must also allow the entry of food and other humanitarian assistance needed to sustain the lives of Palestinians in Gaza in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.
04:27After 627 days, the Israeli occupation forces continued their genocide in Gaza Strip with aerial and terrible bombardments.
04:36With political and military support from the United States and amid international silence and the unprecedented failure of the international community,
04:43silent troops advanced their plans of ethnic cleansing by killing, starving and displacing people.
04:48After 20 months of siege and clear violations of the Palestinian people's human rights,
04:53Israel has left more than 187,000 people dead or wounded and more than 11,000 missing and hundreds of thousands more facing famine and forced displacement.
05:05The most recent attacks by Tel Aviv on the Gaza Strip population left a 13-year-old boy among the victims.
05:11The Chinese Prime Minister Li Qian delivered a speech at the World Economic Forum known as the Summer Davos held in China,
05:29where he called for collaboration between countries in the field of trade and investment.
05:34Li asserted that globalization cannot be reversed, urging nations not to turn trade into a political or security issue.
05:40His words highlight a pragmatic approach that aligns with the need for a more equitable world order
05:46where emerging powers, such as China, seek to redefine norms and rules covering international trade.
05:51Li also showed an optimistic outlook on the Chinese economy, announcing that measures would be implemented to turn China into a large-scale
05:58consumer power.
06:05Currently, the international economic and trade landscape is undergoing profound changes.
06:15Influenced by geopolitics and technological innovation, economic structure, and various other factors,
06:21the global economic landscape is undergoing significant transformation and adjustment.
06:28The global economy is deeply integrated and no country can grow or prosper alone, isolated from the world.
06:40Cooperation is the inevitable choice for development.

07:24Welcome back. More than 80,000 people were forced to flee their homes due to severe flooding in the southwestern Chinese province of Huizhou.
07:32State news agency Xinhua reported rescue teams were dispatched to the two affected counties.
07:38This week authorities issued the second level of alert in the capital, Beijing, which experienced one of the hottest days so far this year.
07:45According to Xinhua agencies, some 80,900 people had left their homes by Tuesday afternoon,
07:51while tens of thousands of people were evacuated last week in central China's Hunan province due to heavy rains.
08:06In South Africa, large floods were recorded raising the number of dead to more than 100 people, including 37 children.
08:13The local government indicated that 94 bodies have been identified and handed over to their families.
08:18Meanwhile, the process to identify the remaining bodies continued.
08:22Authorities also assured that search operations will be extended and the death toll is expected to rise due to reports of missing persons.
08:29At least 10 people were killed, 8 injured, and at least 15 missing in a landslide in the Colombian municipality of Bello, adjacent to Medellin.
08:46The authorities ordered the evacuation of a dozen houses that were at high risk of deterioration due to the material that fell on them,
08:54and those affected are already being moved to temporary shelters.
08:56After announcing the recovery of 10 bodies buried, the Governor of the Department of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, asked to evacuate the area in view of the warnings of new landslides.
09:07According to the authorities, the landslide was caused by heavy rains that overflowed a nearby creek.
09:13The mayor of Bello, Lorena González Ospina, said that the death toll rose to 9.
09:24Another 15 people are missing, and 5 were injured and were taken to medical centers,
09:28while the mayor's office of Medellin reported on casualties and said it had sent rescue workers to support a neighboring municipality.
09:34The director of the Administrative Department of Disaster Risk Management, Carlos Quintero,
09:38explained that a landslide affected a stream that damped up, causing a torrential flood.
09:53And in the United States, Queen's Assemblyman Soran Mamdani is poised to become the Democratic standard-bearer for New York City mayor
10:01following the preliminary results after Tuesday's Democratic primary and the concession of his opponent, Andrew Cuomo.
10:08In the words of Nelson Mandela, it always seems impossible until it is done.
10:26My friends, we have done it.
10:30I will be your Democratic nominee for New York City tonight.
10:42In the Netherlands, NATO signed to a proposed increase in defense spending.
10:47A higher defense spending goal of 5% of GDP comes as a response to a demand by U.S. President Donald Trump
10:53anti-European fears that Russia poses a growing threat to their security.
10:58NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said that member countries would reach an unanimous decision.
11:03However, some nations warned they would not meet this target,
11:06as Rutte himself acknowledged that it was not easy for some European countries and Canada to find the extra money.
11:12The new spending target to be achieved over the next 10 years is a jump worth hundreds of billions of dollars a year
11:18from the current goal of 2% of GDP.
11:21For this part, Russia has accused NATO of being on a path of militarization
11:25and warned of the villainization of the country in order to justify its defense spending increase.
11:37And U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the Spanish government Tuesday
11:40for refusing to increase its defense budget to 5% the day before of the NATO summit.
11:46The U.S. President declared that the European nation was a problem
11:50following Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's decision not to participate in NATO's increased defense spending.
11:56On the other hand, Sánchez asserted that 2.1% would be enough,
11:59an opinion that caused distress among the bloc's member nations.
12:03For his part, Trump said Spain's position was not fair for the rest of the NATO members,
12:07including the United States.
12:09According to the head of the Spanish government,
12:10a 5% spending would be irrational, counterproductive,
12:14and incompatible with his country's welfare state.
12:22And the government of Bolivia declared a national health emergency on Tuesday
12:27due to a measles epidemic after more than 25 years without reported cases of the disease.
12:32President Luis Arce highlighted that after an urgent meeting
12:35with the National Strategic Council for Health Emergencies,
12:37they took the measure due to the 60 cases reported.
12:40The health authorities informed the Department of Santa Cruz
12:42is where most of the cases are reported,
12:45and that two other patients are still under observation.
12:48For its part, the Department of Health Service of PotosĂ
12:51made a proposal to the Department of Education
12:53to start online classes to curb the proliferation of measles,
12:56since countries such as Peru, Brazil, and Argentina
12:59have registered deaths linked to this disease.

13:41The Panamanian government extended the state of siege
13:43for five more days in the province of Bocas del Toro
13:46at the protest against Law 462 of the Social Security Fund.
13:51The Cabinet Council approved the extension of said measure
13:53which establishes the restriction of constitutional guarantees,
13:56alleging that it seeks to re-establish order
13:59in view of the disturbances and vandalism registered in the province.
14:02Among the restrictions still in place in the area
14:05is the suspension of internet and mobile telephone services.
14:09Authorities indicate that 267 people rested in the province
14:12in the midst of the protest.
14:19The Argentine National Bank announced the closure
14:23of 60 branches throughout the country
14:25as part of the adjustment policies of the government of Javier Millay.
14:28The measure is part of a plan to reduce operating costs,
14:31which is already causing concern about the possible massive layoffs.
14:35This bank reduced its staff by 7%,
14:37which represented the dismissal of around 1,000 employees.
14:41Since then, cutbacks have accelerated,
14:43especially in municipalities with tax rates considered high by the entity.
14:47In February 2024, President Javier Millay signed a decree
14:50transforming the national bank into a corporation,
14:54leaving behind its status as a staying-owned company.
14:57In Argentina, as well as every Wednesday,

15:16of a plan of struggle that will continue to escalate,
15:19predicted the General Secretary of the State Workers Association,
15:22Rodolfo Aguiar.
15:23On the other hand, university professors and non-teaching workers
15:26plus students are carrying out a 48-hour strike
15:29on Wednesday and Thursday
15:31in view of the lack of response from the national government
15:33to the budgetary and salaried demands.
15:35This initiative seeks the support of the National Congress
15:38in order to guarantee the protection and support
15:41of the finances of the national university.

16:31such as the historic beer, the ex-meal, and the desert,
16:35where they also seek to create a link between creation
16:37and the call for awareness regarding climate change.
16:45Cuba fine-tunes details for the 44th edition
16:47of the Caribbean Festival to be held

16:53host this traditional celebration,
16:55also known as Fiesta del Fuego,
16:57which will bring together artists,
16:59intellectuals, and communities from all over the region
17:01to commemorate the rich cultural heritage
17:03of the country and other Caribbean nations.
17:06Through musical manifestations,
17:08dances, colors, popular activities,
17:09and social dialogues,
17:11the attendees will enjoy a great event

17:16So more than 150 representatives from Curaçao
17:19will be present at the event,
17:20which will strengthen the ties of friendship
17:22and cultural cooperation between both nations.
17:25An international organization such as UNESCO
17:35has spoken out in favor of using technological tools
17:37to promote inclusive education
17:39and improve the quality of learning.
17:41In Cuba, a particular initiative makes use of these tools
17:43to bring literature closer to teenagers,
17:46children, and young people.
17:48Correspondent Eric Mendez with the details.
17:50We live in times of multi-screens and instantaneousness.
17:59From Cuba, a private company is betting on information
18:03and communication technologies
18:05to bring young people closer to literature.
18:11We have very pleasant experiences
18:13working for and with children
18:16in the development of digital products
18:19as an alternative to empower them,
18:21to provide them with autonomy in learning,
18:24taking into account that multiple intelligence,
18:28the forms of autonomous independent learning,
18:32are increasing, followed,
18:35and that linked to the high use of technologies,
18:39favors to development of a set of solutions
18:43that promote the use of information
18:46and communication technologies
18:48for healthy uses,
18:49for recreation,
18:51but also for the development of knowledge.
18:53Los cuentos de siempre,
18:55poesía para niñas y niñas...
18:57Traditional stories,
18:58children's poetry,
19:00and literary classics
19:01leave the paper
19:02and arrive in new formats
19:04designed for new audiences.
19:06For me, it has been a double challenge.
19:11First, because you have to put your heart into it,
19:13put the pump,
19:15and take it to the children.
19:17And second,
19:18because I feel part of the formation
19:20of a generation
19:21that will not stay in the simple concept of the story
19:25that they were told when they were babies,
19:27but they will continue to learn,
19:29even as teenagers,
19:31listening to stories, narratives, dramas, romance,
19:34but in another format.
19:40These proposals have been presented
19:42in different spaces,
19:43such as Havena International Book Fair.
19:46The value of these productions
19:48lies not only in the rescue of the stories
19:51and their adaptation to audiovisual format,
19:54but also in the fact
19:55that these audiobooks
19:56make literature more accessible.
19:58Listening to audiobooks
20:03or seeing the text
20:05in a different way
20:06with a person narrating the text
20:09who is accessing it
20:11not only for people
20:13with special needs,
20:14but also for people
20:16who do not have much time,
20:19are also part of that public,
20:22of that accessibility
20:24that, in some way,
20:26is solved by these complementary formats
20:29to the physical book
20:30that we produce here in the company.
20:33Bringing the stories of all times
20:38to present and future generations,
20:40and doing so with new tools
20:42associated with technology,
20:44opens another door
20:45to the imaginary universes
20:47treasured in centuries
20:48and centuries of literature.
