00:05Namaste, I am Group Captain Shubanshu Shukla

00:09A fighter pilot for 15 years, he was selected as one of four Indian astronauts in 2020

00:16Captain Shukla, are you ready for the ride?

00:19Will you do some yoga in space like your idol Rakesh Sharma did in 1984?

00:26The first Indian astronaut, Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma,

00:30traveled to space in 1984.

00:33I grew up reading about him in textbooks

00:35and listening to his stories from space.

00:38I was deeply, deeply impressed by him.

00:42This journey that I'm on, it has been a long one for me.

00:46And it started out somewhere.

00:48I didn't know that this is the path it is going to finally take.

00:52I would say that I have been extremely fortunate

00:54and extremely lucky to have gotten the opportunities

00:57to first fly all my life, which was a dream job for me,

01:01and then have the opportunity to apply to the astronaut corps

01:05and now, consequently, be here.

01:11The way this worked out for me was that

01:14probably a week before we arrived at Axiom

01:17was the time I came to know that I'll be going.

01:20I was extremely excited to be here.

01:21I was very, very happy.

01:24because this was a possibility for me to actually fly to space.

01:30You don't know how to respond to such things.

01:33Shooks is wisdom.

01:34The knowledge that he possesses,

01:37he could be 130 years old.

01:39For me, having him as my pilot in the Dragon capsule is great.

01:42He already has that operational savvy.

01:45You know, he's just wicked smart

01:46when it comes to spacecraft technologies.

01:48He is very focused, and he will basically go one, two, three, four in record time.

01:55I don't even know how he gets there so fast.

01:58The team that I'm flying with on this mission, it is fantastic.

02:02I do feel that, you know, I have exceptional crewmates.

02:05I will have these crew members for this one flight.

02:08But post this mission, these are going to be my friends for life.

02:11It has been an amazing journey.

02:15These are moments that really tell you

02:17that you are getting to be a part of something

02:19that is much larger than yourself.

02:21I can only say how extremely fortunate I am to be a part of this.

02:25It is my sincere endeavor through my mission

02:27to inspire an entire generation back home in the country.

02:30I want to use this opportunity to ignite curiosity among kids.

02:34Even if this story, my story, is able to change one life,

02:38it would be a huge success for me.
