ProLintas chief operating officer Rostam Shahrif Tami was fined was fined RM100,000 on Wed (June 25) by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court for failing to report a bribe he received two years ago in connection with the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) project.

Judge Rosli Ahmad imposed the maximum fine on Rostam Shahrif, 59, after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge.

00:09Sessions Court on Wednesday for failing to report a bribe he received two years ago in connection
00:14with the Sungai Besiulu-Kelang elevated expressway project. Judge Rosli Ahmad imposed the fine on
00:2259-year-old Rostam Sharif after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge. The court also ordered
00:29funds seized from the accused, including RM114,000 in bonds, RM658,750 in cash, RM180,000 from a tabung
00:42haji account, and foreign currency be forfeited to the government. Rostam Sharif was charged with
00:49failing to report a RM90,000 bribe received from Syarikat Satunas Technologies, Sendirian Berhad,
00:55through Mohamed Rosman, alias as an inducement in his capacity as the superintending officer's
01:01representative for the expressway privatisation project, to award the company a contract titled
01:08To Construct End Cap Stressing and Shear Block. The offence was committed at a restaurant in
01:13Bandar Kinrara, Puchong in February 2023. Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Diana Noor Azwa urged the
01:23court to impose the maximum fine on Rostam Sharif, citing the seriousness of the offence and the
01:29amount involved. In mitigating for leniency, Rostam Sharif's lawyer Tan Sri Zulkifli Ahmad requested
01:36the court to impose a fine and not a jail term, saying his client suffered from high blood pressure
01:42and had no previous criminal record. According to the facts of the case, Rostam Sharif had used and
01:49disposed of the money for personal purposes, including the purchase of seven luxury watches
01:54and two vehicles registered under the names of his two children.
