Amid a host of big name exits, what do Wolves need to do this summer - and which players could come in.
Transcript
00:00Charlie on Wolves and obviously Fer Lopez coming into the door
00:05and obviously Mateus Cunha leaving for Manchester United
00:08as well as Ryan Etnori to Manchester City
00:10two key players over the last couple of seasons
00:14especially last season when they were really struggling down
00:18around the bottom at Christmas
00:20and the revival under Vito Pereira was no secret
00:24and then Etnori, Cunha, incredible figures in that team
00:27so when you do lose some key figures like that
00:30it is important to replace them
00:32and it seems like Wolves are maybe starting to actually reinvest this summer
00:36obviously we've got to wait until the back end of June for the PSR deadline
00:41but then Wolves fans are going to be hopeful that July
00:44and maybe later in the summer that some more business can be done
00:48and they can get a few more signings over the line
00:50because reinvestment is so important at the top level
00:53and it's something they really haven't done
00:55because they've sold the likes of Ruben Neves for high fees
00:59Pedro Neto as well to name a few
01:01and they just haven't reinvested
01:03and it's really cost them over the last couple of seasons
01:05Yeah, I think it's been a frustration hasn't it
01:08amongst the Molyneux fan base
01:10that just why can't you reinvest this money
01:12we've brought in so much
01:13PSR isn't quite as much of a concern as it was
01:16just reinvest, reinvest
01:17and finally they are doing that as you say
01:19Fer Lopez as well, ÂŁ19.5 million
01:22it's a decent amount of money
01:24enough that fans can be content
01:26but not too much where it feels a huge risk
01:29and of course quite a relatively unproven talent
01:32but he was amongst La Liga's best dribblers last season
01:35despite his lack of minutes
01:36but pretty exciting in that Celta Vigo team
01:39looking like he might be able to push on
01:41to be a star player for them
01:43of course won't be anymore
01:44because he has gone to Wolves
01:45he's represented by just a few
01:47who are the company that George Mendes works with
01:50of course Wolves have had a great relationship
01:53with George Mendes over the years
01:54really benefiting from that
01:55signing players potentially
01:57who would otherwise be out of their reach
01:59Fer Lopez I don't think is one of those necessarily
02:02he's not a big name just yet
02:03but Wolves looking to tap into that potential
02:05got a great left foot
02:06likes to take on defenders
02:08quite creative as well
02:09could play on the right wing
02:10or could play as a bit of a shadow striker
02:12a bit like Mateus Cunha did
02:13I think could be a good signing
02:15but of course he waits to be seen
02:16just how he'll do in the Premier League
02:18Yeah and obviously those two players
02:21going out the door
02:22who do you feel is now
02:23the most important player at Wolves
02:25because you know
02:26we saw the welcome of Emmanuel Agbedou
02:30he made a massive difference
02:31when he came through the door in January
02:33and then Andre and JoĂŁo Gomez
02:35the two Brazilians in the midfield
02:37you know one of the best partnerships
02:38in the league has to be said on their day
02:40those that sort of standouts now
02:43they've obviously got a few young players as well
02:45Pedro Lima
02:46are we going to see him get his chance
02:48early 18 at right back
02:49who sort of stands out
02:51you look at Jorgen Sean Larson as well
02:5414 Premier League goals
02:55that certainly can't be ignored
02:57by other fans across the Premier League
03:00I'd have to agree with the names
03:02that you've mentioned
03:02Agbedou signing in the winter
03:04just saw how much of an impact he had
03:06and how much Wolves defence
03:08how much more solid it became
03:10as soon as he joined the club
03:11they were lacking that kind of
03:13fairly quick but strong
03:14and dominant player in the air
03:16Agbedou
03:17all of those things in abundance
03:19I think him alongside
03:20Jozen Mosquera
03:21once he's back from injury
03:22could be a decent partnership
03:24and of course
03:24Toti Gomez
03:25on the left of that three as well
03:27Jaar Gomez and Andre
03:28as a midfield partnership
03:29can be fantastic
03:31I think they're a bit inconsistent
03:32maybe a little bit hot-headed at times
03:34or a little bit rash
03:35of their decision making
03:36but that will come with time
03:37they're both still very young players
03:39and of course
03:40both being Brazilian
03:40in that international set-up together
03:42they have more time
03:43even during international breaks
03:44to build on that partnership
03:45JĂĽrgen Strand-Larsen
03:47I was worried you weren't going to mention him
03:48scoring quite a few goals
03:50I think he surpassed
03:52what Raul Jimenez managed
03:53in his first season at Wolves
03:55so that's really promising indeed
03:56of course
03:56coming in permanently
03:57from Seltzer
03:58I think one player
04:00that you haven't mentioned
04:01who might not be a Wolves player
04:03come the end of June
04:05is Nelson Semedo
04:06it's just so important
04:07I think that Wolves convince him
04:09to stay
04:09it's just difficult
04:10because he hasn't accepted
04:11that contract
04:12it's going on and on
04:13it feels inevitable now
04:14that he's going to leave the club
04:15and being the captain
04:16being one of the very few
04:17proper leaders
04:18in that dressing room
04:19I think he'll be a big miss
04:21but if Wolves can keep hold of him
04:22I think he'll be one of the most
04:23important players
04:24in that squad
04:25for many years to come
04:25Yeah obviously
04:27since we last caught up
04:28season ended
04:29JĂĽrgen Strand-Larsen's
04:31figures
04:3114 Premier League goals
04:32I think it's important
04:33we actually touch on that
04:34four Premier League assists as well
04:36you know
04:37at times it looked like
04:38he struggled throughout the season
04:39he went through some bad patches
04:41but the way he ended the season
04:42under Vitor Pereira's leadership
04:44especially the last sort of
04:45two, three months
04:46he was untouchable
04:47you know
04:47one of the best players
04:48in the Premier League really
04:50on his day
04:51and he got some massively
04:52important goals
04:53you know
04:53the likes of Ipswich away as well
04:55what's your thoughts on him
04:57and how important he's going to be
04:59for Wolves going forward
05:01because you know
05:01scoring goals
05:02had been a bit of an issue
05:03getting that
05:04Raul Jimenez replacement
05:05before his head injury
05:06that was a bit of an issue
05:07that was overhanging Wolves'
05:09dugouts
05:09and now it seems like
05:11they've maybe found a solution
05:12Yeah they were crying out
05:14weren't they
05:15for that proper centre forward
05:15after Raul Jimenez
05:16and Strand-Larsen
05:18pretty much hit the ground
05:19running straight away
05:19as you mentioned
05:20he was patchy
05:21at times
05:22but I think that's probably
05:23a fitness thing
05:24the fact that Wolves
05:25relying on him so much
05:26quite regular fixtures as well
05:28of course
05:29not in Europe
05:29I think that really would have
05:30been a problem
05:31if Wolves were
05:31but still playing pretty regularly
05:33not quite used to the intensity
05:35of the Premier League
05:35getting to grips with the Premier League
05:37as well as being a starter
05:38every week
05:39is not going to be easy
05:40for a player like Strand-Larsen
05:41who presses high
05:42he gets involved
05:43drops deep as well
05:44with the hold-up play
05:45of course a great finisher
05:46pretty tall as well
05:48so he can be a bit
05:48the target man figure
05:49I think he's so important
05:50to have that proper number nine
05:52leading the line
05:53and he can be that
05:54but I think Wolves
05:55they need to sign another striker
05:56who can compete with
05:58Strand-Larsen
05:59push into the next level
06:00of course rotate in
06:02for him as well
06:03when Strand-Larsen
06:04gets tired
06:04but great signing so far
06:06and hopefully
06:07it's not that curse
06:07of when he joins permanently
06:08that his form falls away
06:10if he can continue
06:11on the rate he is
06:11and potentially improve further
06:13he could have a 20 goal striker
06:15in Strand-Larsen
06:16he really is fantastic
06:17and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:18and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:21and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:21and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:22and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:23and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:23and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:24and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:25and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:26and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:27and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:28and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:28and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:29and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:30and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:30and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:31and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:32and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:33and he's going to have a 20 goal
06:34and he's going to have a 20 goal
