00:00So Newcastle United have had a £45 million bid rejected by Nottingham Forest for Anthony Alanga.
00:07Now we all know Anthony Alanga is one of their main targets to strengthen in that right wing position this summer.
00:12They sold Miguel Almiron in January and Jacob Murphy's had a brilliant end to the season so Almiron's departure didn't really impact them on the pitch.
00:20But we all know it's an area of the field that Newcastle need a strengthening.
00:23They haven't really done that really since Almiron joined the club and that was what six years ago now.
00:29So it's an area they have to improve in and Anthony Alanga is clearly someone they like.
00:34They liked him last summer. They couldn't get a deal over the line then.
00:37And they've been linked with him again this year and of course over the last few weeks that's just been speculation on whether they would make a move.
00:44But today it was revealed by The Athletic that they have made a move for him.
00:48£45 million is the fee that they've offered Nottingham Forest.
00:52That's been swiftly rejected by Forest and it's not really surprising to see that.
00:56I think Nottingham Forest, you know, they obviously like Alanga.
00:59They're under no financial pressure to sell and, you know, will be wanting to build with him rather than without him for the future.
01:06Now they hold now for maybe about £60 million is a reported fee.
01:09That would put Alanga as Newcastle United's second biggest fee ever spent if they go near that.
01:16Even £45 million puts him in the realms of third or fourth, you know, behind Sandro Tonali, Alexander Rezac, Anthony Gould and that kind of thing.
01:22So it would be not insignificant amount of money for Newcastle United's spend.
01:26But as I say, right now that has been rejected.
01:29Now Newcastle are weighing up their options.
01:31Do they go in again for Alanga?
01:32Do they then move on to another target?
01:34I'm sure this story will develop over the next couple of weeks.
01:38You know, there's lots of talk about Newcastle waiting for July 1st or certainly June 30th up to that deadline to see whether they can, you know, take advantage of other clubs PSR issues or whether they actually wait till July 1st and think, actually, we get deals done then.
01:52It'll look better on the financial records and, you know, yeah, it's to come.
01:54But right now Newcastle United have had their first offer for Anthony Alanga rejected by Forrest.
02:00And of course, the best way you can stay up to date with how that deal progresses and all the other deals across the summer is with the Shields Gazette.
