00:00This is Alfie, a Labrador bought as an assistance dog in training from company Supporting Paws in September 2023.
00:09He was supposed to bring greater freedom to Alana Day who has anxiety and autism.
00:15However, at around 6-8 weeks after purchase, Alfie was found to have bilateral hip dysplasia,
00:22a condition where the ball and socket don't fit together properly.
00:25This means he can no longer be an assistance dog and his condition means he is in constant pain.
00:30The family are now crowdfunding for his surgery, which is estimated to cost in excess of £25,000.
