Alex Cora on the hot seat?! Red Sox lose to Angels- Cora gets ejected again Curtis: "Cora is losing it on the field, screaming at umps every couple of days"
00:00If the current performance of the Boston Red Sox was any other team,
00:06every morning until the day he was gone would be five lines saying fire the coach or manager.
00:12They are undisciplined.
00:15They are completely and totally inept on the base path.
00:19They're sloppy.
00:20They don't improve things.
00:21They don't have things happen and then correct the mistake.
00:24Cora is losing it on the field.
00:26He's like screaming at umps every couple days.
00:29He wants to be like the Coastal Carolina guy and go viral maybe.
00:31I don't know.
00:32But the reality is he was helpful in 2018.
00:37He was not hired by Breslow.
00:39One of the two has to go at some point.
00:41And I just watched the Red Sox and they are a disaster.
00:46I know they improved recently, the Devers fiasco, whatever.
00:50But just simple things like catching line drives or Duran getting caught in the bases.
00:55How many times?
00:56First of all, they don't get many hits.
00:58So when you're on base, it would be very beneficial if you didn't get cut off trying to make an extra take second.
01:03When you're down three runs.
01:05Yeah.
01:05Like the whole outfit.
01:07I mean, it was safe though.
01:09Right.
01:09Great.
01:09It shouldn't be close.
01:11You're down three.
01:13Who cares about 90 feet?
01:14Like, I just, I don't know what, to me, Cora's behavior signifies someone who feels like his job is on the line.
01:22And that to me goes back to the overreaction to going to the graduation, the way he's been on social media.
01:28The guy just seems a little on edge.
01:31When it comes to the lack of execution fundamentals-wise, which you're talking about, do you put any of that on Craig Breslow and the overreliance, or maybe not even reliance, the overfocus on analytics and on driveline and like all of that stuff?
01:54And it's coming from the top with Alex Cora that these are the things that we want you to focus on and you don't have time to worry about the fundamental stuff.
02:05But I would say the people in the analytics department would be the ones most outraged at a risk that doesn't justify the reward.
02:12Right.
02:12So, like, they would say, do not, if you hit a, you know, if you get a ball down the line, down three runs in the eighth inning, and it's 50-50 or 70-30 to take second, don't allow that 30% to ruin the fact that we now have to get three more people on base.
02:29Like, that to me is, don't go, don't take second in this spot because you're down three runs and don't risk it.
02:35Well, we also emphasize so much about the, whether it's AI or the stats or the analytics, but Craig Breslow is also a former player.
02:45Like, this is a guy that I think we maybe put too much emphasis on that.
02:50I don't see Craig Breslow just forgetting about all of his years playing in the majors to then only focus on numbers now.
