00:00Long ago, in the golden sands beyond the edges of any map, there lived a merchant named Samir.
00:06Known across kingdoms for his charm, fine robes and priceless jewels, he traded rare silks,
00:12spices and gemstones. But beneath the surface, Samir was proud, vain and selfish. To him,
00:19appearances were everything. And he never passed a polished surface without admiring his own
00:24reflection. One day, while crossing a vast and silent desert with his caravan, Samir noticed
00:31something glinting far in the distance. Thinking it might be treasure, he veered from the path.
00:37His companions warned him, there are illusions in the sands. But Samir's ambition clouded his reason.
00:44As he approached, he found it. An enormous mirror, standing upright in the dunes. The frame was
00:51weathered bronze, engraved with symbols older than any he had seen, and the glass shimmered like water.
00:58There was no one in sight. No sign of a trap. No treasure. Just the mirror. Curious, Samir stood
01:05before it. But what he saw chilled him. It was not his well, groomed beard or jeweled turban staring
01:11back at him. It was a version of himself, twisted and dark. Eyes hollow with greed. Mouth curled in
01:17cruelty, his hands clutching coins that melted into sand. What trick is this? He muttered, backing
01:24away. But as he turned to leave, a whisper filled the air. You cannot flee from who you are. Shaken.
01:31Samir called for his guards. But found he was alone. The desert around him was suddenly unfamiliar,
01:38the tracks of his caravan gone. Panicked, he turned again to the mirror. Now. The reflection
01:44showed him as a child, stealing bread from a hungry beggar, then grinning. The scene changed
01:50again. He was older, mocking a poor traitor who had lost everything. Each memory stung like the sun
01:56on bare skin. No. Samir cried. That is not who I am. The mirror stayed silent, but the reflection
02:04shifted again. This time, it showed his wife whom he left behind each year to chase wealth,
02:10his workers. Who toiled while he dined in palaces, and finally, a younger merchant offering him water
02:16on a hot day. A kindness he had scoffed at. Samir fell to his knees. I never knew I didn't want to see.
02:24He whispered. The whispering voice returned. You knew. But now, you have a choice. A sudden breeze swept
02:32the desert, and the mirror began to glow. What choice? Samir called out. Become the reflection you
02:39wish to see. In that moment, Samir understood. He could no longer hide behind robes and riches.
02:46If he wanted to change his fate, he had to change himself. He stood and bowed before the mirror.
02:52I will begin again. The mirror shimmered, then faded into sand. As if it had never been there,
02:59the path to his caravan reappeared. His guards, stunned, claimed they had only looked away for a
03:05moment. Samir returned to the city, but he was no longer the same man. He gave generously to the poor,
03:12helped rebuild ruined markets, and treated his workers with respect. Slowly, people began to
03:17admire not just his goods, but his heart. Years later, when asked why he changed, Samir would smile
03:24and say, I saw my soul in a mirror once. And I didn't like the man looking back. Moral of story is that
03:32who we are inside matters more than what we show.
