00:00Kia ora, I'm Heather Keats.
00:02We've now updated the watches and warnings in preparation for the next round of significant
00:07weather.
00:08And it will be rough, with an active front and north to northwest gales arriving across
00:12the South Island tomorrow.
00:13This system is set to impact pretty much all of the country well into the weekend.
00:18But at this stage, these are the watches and warnings out.
00:23You'll see it's the normal behaviour of an active front, hits the west, dumps most
00:27of the rain, west of the Alps, with the east being hit by norwesters.
00:31But in this case, there will be extensive spillover.
00:34So orange heavy rain warnings include the headwaters of the Otago lakes and rivers.
00:39The wind will also be strong for not just the Canterbury High Country, but also the Canterbury
00:43Plains.
00:44Now, the next round of updates will be after nine tonight and available on our app or at
00:49Metservice.com.
