00:30Sunshine on the north coast of Northern Ireland.
00:46Add in some unparalleled scenery and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean
00:51and you have the perfect setting for Ireland's biggest outdoor sporting event.
00:56Oh, and he's going to drive past Richard Cooper.
00:58That's not just slipstream, you know, that's raw power.
01:00Wow.
01:01Welcome to our third and final highlights programme
01:05from this year's Briggs Equipment Northwest 200.
01:08An event steeped in history and heritage stretching back almost a century.
01:14Now this is more than just a motorcycle race.
01:17It's a celebration of speed and skill.
01:20A showdown between the world's best riders
01:22on closed public roads between three seaside towns.
01:27And already the Northwest 200 has lived up to its reputation
01:31as one of the best bike events in the world.
01:34Here's what's happened so far.
01:36What a start from Davey Todd.
01:43Oh, smoke.
01:45Well, that's not good.
01:45It's the end of Sealy's race.
01:47Going to be Davey Todd on a brand new team,
01:50the brand new motorbike.
01:51He takes his first ever Superbike win.
01:55Super Sport, what a great class this is.
01:57Wow, look at that shot.
02:00Where the hell do you get that?
02:01Oh, there's five of them in it now.
02:03Well, number six takes six Northwest 200 wins.
02:07Look at that.
02:08What a vista.
02:08Oh, that's not so good.
02:10Hello, Michael Dunlop.
02:12Oh, that's a disaster at university.
02:14Did he miss it here?
02:16Michael Dunlop does it again.
02:21Lights out and it's away we go.
02:27Three abreast.
02:29Cooper wins from McCain.
02:35Oh, hang on.
02:36Dunlop has gone down there.
02:37And Hickman.
02:38And it was Hickman as well.
02:42Michael Dunlop does it again here.
02:46They're off the line again.
02:48Got to be number one.
02:51Richard Cooper lets the brakes off
02:52and Dunlop looks for the place.
02:54Oh, wow.
02:55I've never seen anything like it.
02:56I say, come to the line.
02:58Flag out.
02:59What a finish.
03:01It's a wonderful and dramatic racing so far.
03:05And we have lots more to come.
03:07Next up is the Superstock race.
03:10And here's Northwest 200 winner Lee Johnston
03:13to explain this class.
03:18We've called in to 810 Racing
03:20to have a closer look at their Superstock machine
03:23as ridden by Peter Hickman and Davey Todd.
03:26This is the most cost-effective class
03:28here at the Northwest 200 this week.
03:30Looking at Big Brother,
03:31you're talking at a 100 gram motorcycle.
03:33This is a 40 gram motorcycle
03:35and probably only two seconds or less in lap time.
03:39This bike will still do well over 200 mile an hour.
03:42Some of the modifications you are allowed to make
03:44are your front forks,
03:45your rear shock,
03:47bodywork,
03:47has to be the same silhouette
03:48and of fiberglass,
03:50but not like carbon fiber,
03:51like its big brother.
03:52You aren't allowed to change the brakes,
03:54external parts of the forks.
03:56It will also run on kit electronics,
03:58whereas the Superbike runs on MoTeC.
04:01But as we can say,
04:03this is definitely going to be the busiest class this week
04:05for all of them reasons.
04:06Well, the opening race in this class
04:11was won by Michael Dunlop.
04:13It was an absolute thriller
04:14and he starts on the second row.
04:17Dunlop is surrounded by so many contenders, though,
04:20including Davey Todd in pole position.
04:23His 8'10'' teammate is Peter Hickman,
04:25who's also on the front row
04:26with the Northwest 200 record holder
04:29Alistair Seeley sandwiched in between.
04:32His bike blew up on Thursday,
04:34but he has a new engine fitted for this one.
04:37It's time to join our race commentary team,
04:39Steve Parrish and Keith Ewan.
04:42Thank you, Stephen.
04:43This, for me, Steve,
04:45is the most pure class.
04:46It is the one that most of the bikes
04:48run under exactly the same rules.
04:50No big modifications.
04:52Absolutely.
04:53There it is.
04:53Davey Todd, Alistair Seeley,
04:54Peter Hickman,
04:55and Dean Harrison, winner from the first race,
04:57Michael Dunlop, Jamie Coward,
04:58Mike Brown, Paul Jordan and Ian Hutchinson.
05:01On row four,
05:02John McGuinness,
05:02Connor Cummings and Josh Brooks,
05:04Erno Costamo,
05:05the fin from Michael Evans,
05:06Michael Sweeney,
05:07Sam West,
05:08Nathan Harrison
05:08and Mitch Rees,
05:09the newcomer.
05:10So the usual workout for 74 there.
05:12You see him do it every time.
05:14Davey Todd,
05:14always a flying starter
05:16and he makes another great start as well.
05:18Watch for Dunlop, though.
05:19You just saw him jinking to his right,
05:20our left.
05:21The number six bike looking for a way through,
05:23but it is Seeley who slots in,
05:25behind Davey Todd.
05:26Great start from him
05:26and Harrison up the inside now
05:28as we get down to Morgeyork.
05:30Seeley's engine's an old engine
05:31they've put in now.
05:32The best engine blew up,
05:33so he's got one that's got 5,000 kilometers on it.
05:35Let's see how it goes.
05:36Still looks sharp, though,
05:37I've got to say,
05:37but that is Seeley,
05:38the wee wizard.
05:39He's looking for his 30th race win
05:40around this track.
05:42He's had 29 of them
05:43and it would be something a little bit special.
05:45This is the one he spends the,
05:46has the biggest chance in, though, Steve,
05:48Superstock.
05:48No question about it.
05:49The way Todd gets off the line is extraordinary.
05:52Do you know these bikes, though?
05:53They've got a launch control on a road bike.
05:55You just literally hold it flat out
05:56and dump the clutch,
05:58the electronics do it all for you.
05:59On board with Dean Harrison on the Honda.
06:00I'd like to say it's because
06:02he's a bit of a motocrosser
06:03and that's what those guys are trained to do,
06:05but Todd just makes it special every time.
06:07Goes through station
06:08with Seeley behind him.
06:09Then it's Dean Harrison
06:10on bike number three
06:11as they blast out into the countryside,
06:13then down towards the university corner.
06:16This is Peter Hickman.
06:17Peter Hickman is a wild man
06:19that's looking for a result.
06:20Look at that chain
06:21slapping through the swinging arm.
06:22And it's not the footrests that are loose.
06:24It's the cameras on the swinging arm.
06:25Michael Dunlop,
06:25Mickey D goes past there.
06:27He's got a fast bike
06:28in Superstock as well, hasn't he?
06:29Dean Harrison goes through there.
06:31There is Alistair Seeley.
06:32Big slipstream as they go past Todd.
06:34Can Seeley get up the inside
06:35when we get into the braking area?
06:37We're going to find out in a moment.
06:38So full tanks of fuel.
06:40Six laps then for this race as well.
06:41Four we had on Thursday.
06:44It's close already.
06:45On to the link road.
06:46Up over towards the Bally Sally roundabout we go.
06:49Looking back from...
06:49Hey, hello.
06:50Nothing wrong with that old engine.
06:52It looks good to me.
06:54Or that old fella for that matter.
06:55But no, really great racing.
06:57We're seeing a lot more passing
06:58going into there than we used to.
06:59Yeah, well that might well be.
07:01You've been banging the drum
07:02about the new tarmac all week
07:03and it seems to be working now.
07:04It's all cleared up.
07:05Of course, at this point in the race week,
07:07the track is clean.
07:09Seeley again, really.
07:10I mean, a lot of it is to do with your weight.
07:12We know that very much.
07:13We've seen that with Richard Cooper.
07:14But Alistair Seeley is one of the smaller riders
07:16in this class.
07:17Yeah, side by side.
07:18Here we go again.
07:19We're on board with David Todd.
07:19He gets a bit of a slipstream.
07:20But you watch him on the brakes.
07:21David Todd is so good on the brakes
07:23down into this chicane.
07:25Dean Harrison.
07:26Did his rear wheel come off the ground there
07:28where he was braking so hard, Harrison?
07:30Through the chicane at Mathers Cross.
07:32Now then, next stop is Macro Boy.
07:33Another opportunity to slide up the inside
07:35if you can on the brakes.
07:37Interesting, seeing the holes in the screen.
07:39That's to stop the helmets
07:40bucketing about behind the screen as much.
07:42A lot of the riders do that.
07:43They put some holes in the screen.
07:44Yeah.
07:44And they get some with the stones.
07:46This is a place where you have to say
07:47you are not doing 200 mile an hour
07:49on just about any other track on a superbike.
07:51On a superstop bike, I should say.
07:53So, down the brakes we go.
07:54Into the next chicane.
07:56Have they all made it through here?
07:57We've got a tailwind again.
07:58It's been consistent here, hasn't it, today?
08:01Race day on Saturday.
08:02Tailwind heading down to Portrush.
08:04Headwind heading up to University.
08:05But most of the riders have worked out
08:07the tailwind and they're hopefully
08:08not all going to fly up the slip road
08:10at the Metropole.
08:10As we saw in the superbike race, of course.
08:12So then, into the Metropole braking area.
08:14Look at the brake fluid jumping
08:15all over the place there in the little pot.
08:17As Seeley goes to the front.
08:19Come on, Alistair Seeley.
08:20The wee wizard.
08:21That will be popular.
08:23Tyres might come into play with this as well
08:25because near superstop bikes
08:26are just a tad off as powerful as the superbikes.
08:30Yeah.
08:30The only thing is you'd say
08:31the suspension's probably a bit more compliant.
08:33They're designed for road use.
08:34They've got the standard swing and arm suspension
08:36linkage system.
08:37You can adjust all of those things, of course.
08:40But Alistair Seeley, lovely to see him up there.
08:42He's had a year out of it.
08:4329 wins for him.
08:44But he's not going to have it easy
08:45because there is Davey Todd.
08:47A big wing on that BMW.
08:49It would almost be as popular as a Nicky D win, I would say.
08:53Alistair Seeley's been out of it for so long.
08:55To come back and if he took his 30th win,
08:57the crowd would absolutely have a treat.
08:59We've seen Dunlop win this week so far.
09:01And if Alistair Seeley manages to top that
09:04in this superstop race, that would be a little special.
09:07Paul Jordan then on the Jackson Racing by Prosper 2.
09:11Beautiful team.
09:12That's one of the best turned out teams in the paddock.
09:14Oh, that's wide from Josh Brooks.
09:17Yeah, Brooksie was proper wide there.
09:19Didn't lose a place to Jordan though
09:20as we go past the start and finish.
09:22You can just see the wind as it's blowing.
09:24Across the grass.
09:25Wow.
09:26And the curve.
09:27Across the grass completely.
09:27Well, we've seen a bit of that.
09:29Maybe the Richard Cooper effect
09:30has rubbed off on some of the other riders.
09:33It is dry and there is grip,
09:35even on the grass this week.
09:38You can hear that thing spinning
09:39and that's what wrecks tyres.
09:40It's when it's spinning
09:41and the middle of the tyre is taking some real stick.
09:44Yeah, it's a bit like cavitation.
09:46It comes off the ground, back on the ground.
09:47That tearing factor you get.
09:49Helped by the track being warmer here today.
09:51I think track's about 39 degrees.
09:53I'm busy with my dictionary looking up cavitation.
09:55Up to the Mill Road roundabout, then we go.
09:58This is where Todd, you watch Todd out.
10:00I do not know how he manages
10:02to leap off these low-geared corners.
10:05It just always looks like he's out of York,
10:07out of that Mill Road roundabout.
10:08You watch him as he closes down Sealy.
10:11Does he manage that this time around?
10:12Yes, I think he has.
10:13I think he's just bravery, really.
10:15He just gets on the power a bit earlier.
10:15Just taps it on a little earlier.
10:16Yeah, I think you might well be right.
10:18But look, he's right there at station corner.
10:20And the amount of mucky air
10:21that you've got around you
10:22going into station corner,
10:24the amount these wings
10:25push the air all around you
10:27and through comes David Todd, then.
10:30Gets side by side.
10:32That's the worst of it.
10:33You get sucked into the bike
10:34with that amount of wind
10:36rushing past the motorcycle.
10:37Look at this, Dean Harrison, number three.
10:39Honda.
10:40Yeah, flies by.
10:40Honda Racing UK
10:41and Sealy on the other side.
10:43That's what slipstreaming does for you.
10:45So Dean Harrison hits the front,
10:46but he had to go right out
10:47to the white line
10:48where it's still a bit dirty to do that.
10:49And number six is there.
10:50Yeah, Dunlop is there.
10:52You're right.
10:52The resplendent Michael Dunlop.
10:57David Tobber on board
10:58with over the link road we go again.
11:00Some take it tight,
11:01some roll right out to it,
11:02but then you end up
11:04with the Bally Sally roundabout.
11:05That long, long, long right-hander
11:06all the way before you flick left.
11:09You've got to get it right
11:09because if you're a mile an hour faster
11:11getting out of this right-hander,
11:13you'll carry that
11:14all the way down to the next chicane.
11:16And that really does count
11:17when it comes to
11:18getting in somebody's slipstream.
11:20Yeah, this is where it all happens.
11:21One of the places,
11:22David Todd,
11:23right beside Dean Harrison,
11:24right now,
11:25front wheel off the ground.
11:26We've heard Lee Johnson
11:27mention the fact
11:28that when they start wobbling around,
11:29it's often because
11:30they've run out of torque
11:31and the front wheel
11:31doesn't come off the ground.
11:33Yeah, they're not pushing
11:33their way through that
11:34and it starts to shake its head.
11:36But I think we're going to see
11:38a bit more of that
11:38in this six-lapper.
11:39David Todd again
11:40are on board
11:40with the 810 Racing BMW.
11:43And of course,
11:43this is a brand new team.
11:45These are brand new motorbikes
11:46this year.
11:46They've put the team together
11:47in the very last minute.
11:49Now then,
11:49we're looking back.
11:50Seeley that...
11:51There he is.
11:52Yeah, here he is.
11:52Back in shot.
11:53So he'll be catching
11:54another slipstream
11:55into that braking area.
11:57Here we go then.
11:58McRiboy.
12:00Harrison,
12:00Todd,
12:01Seeley,
12:02Dunlop.
12:04Yeah,
12:04this is the run down
12:05and we're reckoning
12:06that it's probably nearly
12:06as fast running down here
12:08with the tailwind
12:08as it is where the speed track line is.
12:09Well, it is downhill
12:10and the wind is behind us
12:12down towards Metropole
12:13into Port Rush.
12:15Looks so fast
12:16when you're in amongst
12:16the houses
12:17and the street furniture
12:18all the way down.
12:19I say every year.
12:19Todd, is he going to get it stopped?
12:20Yes.
12:21Does he run wide?
12:21No, he doesn't do either of those.
12:23He gets it stopped.
12:24He doesn't run wide.
12:25Perfect line from him.
12:26He's so good on the brakes
12:27as well, Davey Todd.
12:28So Davey Todd on the 74
12:29hits the front again
12:29from Harrison.
12:30Still Seeley.
12:31They're in third place.
12:32He'll be happy with that
12:33at the moment.
12:34Mickey Dunlop.
12:34Michael Dunlop
12:35right there in fourth place.
12:36And look at this.
12:38Oh, how close do you like it?
12:39That's 175 miles an hour
12:41coming up to the place.
12:42The Bet McLean chicane.
12:43This is where a lot of passing
12:44takes place.
12:45But Dean Harrison
12:46is so good in this sector
12:48and you saw the Honda
12:49was so sharp
12:50but he still couldn't make it
12:51to the chicane
12:52in first place.
12:53Todd beats him to it again.
12:55Now then,
12:55Michael Dunlop,
12:56is he sitting there waiting?
12:57He knows how to play tactics,
12:58doesn't he, Dunlop?
12:59He did it
13:00in the Supersport race
13:01on Thursday.
13:02He's been pretty sharp on it.
13:03I don't think any one of them
13:05doesn't know how to play the tactics.
13:06They're all hugely experienced.
13:08Obviously,
13:08David Todd is the younger
13:09of the bunch,
13:1029 years old for him,
13:11leading the race at the moment.
13:13But you bet your life
13:13when they get down to university
13:14he won't be
13:15just because of the slipstream again.
13:16Well, David Todd's had his first race win
13:18in a big class this week.
13:20Dean Harrison is yet
13:21to have that top step.
13:22So, Dean Harrison
13:23is the man that most wants it.
13:25How many second places
13:26has Dean Harrison had here?
13:28Yeah, an enormous amount.
13:29He's now on a proper tour
13:30with the Honda Racing UK machine.
13:33braking area
13:35down through the gearbox,
13:36the blipper
13:36getting it all sorted out
13:39and then
13:39on the gas.
13:44Seeley
13:45on the SMS
13:46Nickel Oils machine.
13:49He races in Supersport as well.
13:51But right now
13:52his favoured class,
13:54surely this was the one
13:55that he stands
13:55the most chance in.
13:58Yeah, as we heard,
13:59he had to change his engine
14:00before the race.
14:01It's dropped off now though.
14:02It's apparently
14:03an old engine
14:04but it's absolutely running well.
14:06Doesn't look slow,
14:07that's for sure.
14:08But of course,
14:08it's not just about top speed.
14:10It's about how it gets off the corners,
14:11how it feels to the rider.
14:13David Todd,
14:13Dean Harrison,
14:14Peter Hickman
14:14after four laps.
14:16That's where we're at.
14:17But it's Todd
14:18that's managed
14:19to pull his way out here.
14:19But it's a question
14:20of whether these guys
14:21can work together
14:22to slipstream back up towards him.
14:24Seeley's dropped
14:25to the back of this bunch now.
14:27That could be to do with,
14:28well, a number of things actually
14:29because they're all on
14:30super stock brakes
14:31as we know.
14:32These bikes got
14:33nearly the same power,
14:34not quite as much
14:35but the brakes aren't as good.
14:36Gearbox isn't quite as good.
14:37It's got different ratios.
14:38All these things come into play
14:39but incredibly,
14:41they lap at nearly the same time.
14:42Out of all the classes,
14:43these are probably
14:44the least modified
14:45throughout what we've got
14:46racing here
14:47at the Northwest 200.
14:49Super Twins
14:50are the small bikes
14:51but they are the most modified.
14:53It doesn't really work that way.
14:54Peter Hickman,
14:55BMW 810 Racing.
14:57Now then,
14:57what can Hickey do
14:58from where he is?
15:00Looking for that draft.
15:02Is he managing to get it?
15:04It pulls out
15:04but he can't do anything with it.
15:06Watch him come back
15:07through the gears.
15:08They've got to slam it
15:09all the way down
15:10from sixth to first gear.
15:11He's right there though.
15:12And that's often
15:13when you see the riders
15:13looking down at the dash.
15:15They're just making sure
15:15they've gone down to first gear.
15:17Josh Brooks we're on with now.
15:18Oh, and he hit the kerb.
15:20Josh Brooks hit the kerb
15:21and he's in the field.
15:22Josh Brooks picked up the kerb
15:23on the inside there
15:24and he's gone farming.
15:26Hello, officer.
15:27How are you?
15:27Yeah, that's a nice crop of wheat though.
15:29He'll be charged for that,
15:30you know.
15:31Farmers around our way,
15:32they'll find you.
15:33So then,
15:33David Todd leads.
15:34Josh Brooks,
15:35while he sorts himself out
15:36on the agricultural side of things,
15:38these boys have got no time
15:39for looking at it.
15:40It's Todd out front again.
15:41Is that the biggest break
15:42we've seen so far?
15:43No, I'm interested
15:44in what's there.
15:45Dean Harrison runs road shift.
15:46Did you see him
15:47trying to hook the gear
15:48as he comes out of there?
15:49It's quite awkward
15:49if you don't run the race shift.
15:51Let's have another look
15:52at this then.
15:52Josh Brooks,
15:53he clouts the kerb.
15:53He turns right
15:54and then on the left kink,
15:56he just clouts that kerb
15:57and picks it up
15:58on the fairing
15:59and fires himself
16:00into the...
16:01And to get to your road shift thing,
16:03normally,
16:04you press down
16:05to go up,
16:06upper gear.
16:06So you've not got your foot
16:08underneath the lever
16:08when you want to select
16:10a higher gear.
16:11Final lap.
16:13Todd,
16:14Harrison,
16:15Hickman,
16:15Seeley's still there
16:16in fourth place.
16:17Hutchie is a long way off
16:18back in fifth place.
16:19Paul Jordan is there
16:20and Erno Costamo
16:21having another great ride.
16:23He's really had
16:23a consistent week
16:25so far here
16:25in the northwest.
16:26Seeley's dropped off
16:27of this.
16:27This is about three men now.
16:31Mill Road,
16:31roundabouts.
16:32Now then,
16:33can Dean Harrison
16:34grab his first
16:34big bike win here?
16:36He's got some work to do
16:37if he's going to catch
16:38Davey Todd,
16:38that is for sure
16:39because Davey Todd
16:40is away.
16:40He's up front now
16:41looking at Peter Hickman.
16:43Peter Hickman is
16:43a teammate,
16:45of course,
16:46at the 8-10 team.
16:48And here we go.
16:49Side by side.
16:50That Honda
16:51looks sharp, Steve.
16:52And they sorted out
16:53the handling
16:53because it was
16:54waggling its head off
16:55in practice
16:56and through the first
16:57day's outings here.
16:59Honda have done
16:59a great job
17:00in getting that right.
17:05Flat out.
17:06Near 200 miles an hour,
17:07of course.
17:08We've lost Dunlop.
17:08It would be more than that
17:09if, yeah,
17:10Dunlop has gone out of it
17:11but I don't see where.
17:13He dropped back somewhere.
17:15These guys have,
17:15here comes Hickman
17:16up the outside
17:17of the number three Harrison.
17:18Dunlop has had a problem
17:20and slipped back.
17:21Sealy's still there.
17:21Sealy's still there
17:22but it's about these three.
17:25I think Todd,
17:26this time around,
17:27has got it pretty well
17:27sorted out.
17:28That's the biggest lead
17:29there has been
17:29throughout this race
17:31and he's extending it.
17:32Yeah,
17:32he was just far enough
17:33out of range
17:34for slipstreaming,
17:35I think,
17:35from the number three
17:37of Dean Harrison
17:38here now.
17:38Whether or not
17:39he can keep that
17:40down into Metropole.
17:41Michael Dunlop is out.
17:45Michael Dunlop is out.
17:46He's coming through to me
17:47so he has finished
17:49on that fourth lap
17:50so Dunlop has gone.
17:52Todd,
17:53now look at that
17:53advantage he has.
17:54Yeah,
17:54he's not going to,
17:54unless he makes a big mistake
17:56and goes Josh Brooks farming
17:57he's,
17:58oh,
17:58a back wheel
17:59off the crown.
18:00Well,
18:00not for the lack
18:01of trying.
18:01This was the corner
18:05that we saw Brooksie
18:06heading off
18:07into the field.
18:08New tarmac in places.
18:10This track has been
18:11managed quite well
18:12this year round.
18:12There's been a bit of
18:13money spent on the track
18:14but it's still
18:14the bumpiest part
18:15of the course
18:16is this run down
18:16of Portrush.
18:17It is looking pristine
18:18though this year.
18:19Here we go.
18:20Look as good.
18:20These two side by side.
18:21Can they work together
18:22to bridge that gap
18:24to Todd in front?
18:24I don't think Dean's
18:25too bothered about that
18:26and he's good on the breaks
18:27Dean Harrison
18:27so Peter Hickman
18:30is going to have
18:31a real job in his hands
18:32to try and get past
18:32the Honda man
18:33but it's Todd out front.
18:35Dean Harrison
18:35a little protective there
18:36up the inside again
18:37back wheel in the air
18:38after the bumps
18:39has that sent him
18:40wide?
18:41No,
18:41it hasn't.
18:42Hicky can't get past
18:44him at all.
18:44Todd slightly sideways
18:46laying a big dark line
18:48through Church Corner
18:49we go then
18:50for the last time
18:51up under the railway bridge.
18:52Oh,
18:53nice to see you.
18:54Some back markers in front.
18:56Yeah,
18:57they've got through them.
18:58That's before he gets
18:59to the centre of the chicane
19:00so he's got through
19:01there cleaning.
19:02Will it affect
19:02the second and third?
19:03Well,
19:03I think they've moved
19:04off to the side there,
19:05Steve.
19:05They obviously looked
19:06at the flags
19:06and they've all come
19:07through okay
19:07so it's not going
19:08to affect it
19:08coming down
19:09into this chicane.
19:10Dean Harrison
19:11very,
19:12very smooth indeed
19:13but it's going to be
19:13Davey Todd surely.
19:15He's just got a couple
19:16of corners to go
19:16before he takes
19:17another big bike win
19:18through the right-hander
19:20then it's a flick left
19:21onto the start
19:22and finish straight.
19:23Davey Todd
19:24takes another big bike win
19:25from Dean Harrison
19:26barring a mistake
19:27over the line.
19:28Checkered flag
19:29and it's Peter Hickman
19:30teammate to Todd
19:31in third place.
19:32Alistair Seeley
19:33hung on to that
19:33fourth place.
19:34Ian Hutchinson
19:34a long way back
19:35with a great result
19:36nonetheless.
19:37Paul Jordan,
19:37Erna Costamo,
19:38John McGuinness,
19:40Michael Evans
19:40and Michael Sweeney.
19:49Davey Todd,
19:50congratulations.
19:51Great win.
19:52Yeah,
19:52over the moon
19:52with that one
19:53and I've been
19:54pretty fired up
19:55after how today
19:55has gone
19:56and it's been
19:59eating away at me
20:00and then I had
20:00a little technical
20:02issue again
20:02in the Supersport race
20:03and yeah,
20:05it's just been
20:05working me up
20:07a little bit
20:07and just not
20:08had the best of luck
20:09this time here
20:10but yeah,
20:12these boys,
20:13they're A10 racing boys
20:14by Monster Energy.
20:16You know,
20:16they've done
20:17a fantastic job
20:18in such a short
20:18space of time
20:19to put these bikes
20:21together.
20:21We're literally
20:21every session out
20:22we're trying to
20:23test new things
20:23because we've had
20:24no testing
20:24and I've just
20:26got to give it
20:26up to them.
20:27They've done
20:27a fantastic job
20:28and again,
20:29we've got both
20:29our bikes
20:30on the podium
20:30and yeah,
20:32really stoked
20:33of that.
20:34You came so,
20:34so close again
20:35to that win.
20:36No,
20:36honestly,
20:37I was hanging
20:37in there then.
20:39I was struggling
20:39to keep heat
20:40behind me.
20:41The top speed
20:41of our bike
20:42is so strong,
20:43the Honda
20:43is so fast.
20:44I'm just struggling
20:45to go up the box
20:47a bit,
20:47I had a few
20:47little issues
20:48but no,
20:49I hung in there
20:49until the end
20:50really and just
20:50second or what
20:51out of it.
20:52You're saving
20:53the best for last,
20:54I'm sure,
20:54the last superbike
20:55race of the day.
20:56Yeah,
20:56I'm going to try
20:57and hopefully
20:57learn what we've
20:58learned on this
20:58and we'll transfer
20:59across and I've
21:00got a race in between
21:01now to have a cup
21:01of tea and have
21:02a rethink.
21:03The two of you
21:03back in here
21:04to the winner's
21:04enclosure.
21:05Yeah,
21:05exactly,
21:06great for 8.10
21:06racing again,
21:07not quite a 1.2
21:08again,
21:08I was close.
21:09I did get into
21:10second place
21:11at one point
21:12and I don't know,
21:13I broke slightly
21:14earlier than Davey
21:14into Metropole
21:15and he still managed
21:16to get the bike
21:16stopped and I had
21:20feel really strong
21:21on the bike,
21:21the bike feels
21:22really good.
21:22Yeah,
21:23I can't answer
21:23too much more.
21:42So a double
21:43for Davey
21:44at the North West.
21:46Now this year's
21:47event is celebrating
21:48the achievements
21:49of road racing
21:51icon and Northern
21:52Ireland sporting
21:52legend Joey Dunlop
21:54who passed away
21:5525 years ago
21:57as a result of
21:58a racing accident
21:59in Estonia.
22:00Here at the
22:01North West,
22:02all the machines
22:03are carrying
22:03Joey Dunlop stickers
22:04and there are
22:05Joey 25 flags
22:07all around
22:08this circuit.
22:09Philip McCallan,
22:1011 time
22:11North West 200
22:12winner,
22:12raced against
22:13Joey many times
22:14and it's right
22:15that we pay
22:15tribute to the
22:17great man.
22:17Yeah,
22:18without a doubt,
22:18you know,
22:18Joey,
22:19I'm very,
22:19very lucky to say
22:20he was a friend
22:21of mine,
22:21he was a teammate
22:22of mine,
22:23you know,
22:24he's just a
22:24great,
22:25great person,
22:25he's an ambassador
22:26for motorcycling
22:27and he's an ambassador
22:28for our country.
22:30What more can you say?
22:31And there will be
22:32a special event
22:33in Joey Dunlop's
22:34hometown of
22:35Balamone on May
22:37the 24th
22:38when many riders
22:39including Philip
22:40and world
22:41superbike stars
22:41Carl Fogarty
22:42and Jonathan Ray
22:43will ride
22:44Joey's
22:44original machines.
22:46but next
22:47it's time
22:47for our race
22:48and it's the
22:49Super Twins
22:50and British champion
22:51Richard Cooper
22:52from England
22:52the race one winner
22:53is in pole position
22:55alongside the
22:56Northern Ireland
22:57duo of Adam
22:58McLean
22:58and Paul Jordan
23:00who make up
23:00the front row.
23:02Michael Sweeney
23:03is a former
23:03Irish champion
23:04from the Republic
23:05of Ireland
23:06and veteran
23:07Jeremy McWilliams
23:08a former
23:09MotoGP rider
23:10is back to take
23:11his place
23:12on the grid
23:12after an earlier
23:14crash.
23:15And we know
23:16what the pole man
23:17is capable of doing
23:18to take a win.
23:19Adam McLean
23:19will be his main
23:20competition I'm sure
23:21with Paul Jordan
23:21Peter Hickman
23:22Jeremy McWilliams
23:23and Michael Sweeney
23:23and row three
23:24is looking pretty
23:25racy as well.
23:26No question about it
23:27AJ Venter there
23:28Neil Kernaghan
23:29Daryl Tweed
23:30Barry Ferber
23:31Marty Lennon
23:31Daniel Ingram
23:32Dean McMaster
23:33Chris Duncan
23:33and Christian Elkin
23:34with a previous
23:35broken collarbone.
23:37Who's going to get
23:37the whole shot
23:38then this time?
23:38Watch the lights
23:39the sign says
23:40it's usually
23:41Richard Cooper
23:42who gets off the line
23:43he always looks
23:43so neat and tidy
23:44off the line
23:45everyone else
23:45is waggling around
23:46but he's just
23:47pushed forward
23:47Adam McLean
23:48slots straight in
23:49behind him as well
23:49and it's the number
23:5039 machine
23:51of AJ Venter
23:52from South Africa
23:53that slots in
23:54in third place
23:55Steve.
23:55I can see this
23:56being a real scrap.
23:58Yeah me too
23:58because let's face it
24:00we got that
24:01situation in the
24:02last race
24:02where Adam McLean
24:04got kind of outfoxed
24:06a little bit
24:06on that last lap.
24:08Yeah.
24:08Oh can you hear
24:09the tyre squealing there?
24:10And he still pulls it
24:11down to almost
24:12the apex
24:12that was pretty
24:13impressive
24:14considering he
24:14overshot really
24:15I'm talking about
24:16Richard Cooper
24:16but here's Ferber
24:18Ferber on the 80 bike
24:19this bike and this
24:20rider look good
24:21this week as well.
24:22It does fantastic
24:23it's looking really
24:24really good
24:24but there was no doubt
24:25there was a bit of
24:26sandbagging from
24:27Richard Cooper I think
24:28in the first race
24:29on Thursday
24:30simply sat beside
24:31sat behind Adam
24:33McLean didn't he
24:33till that last lap
24:35and then he just
24:35split at the end
24:36I think everybody's
24:36got it worked out
24:37now though Steve
24:38I think that
24:38sandbagging is not
24:40something that's going
24:40to work
24:41it's going to be
24:41experience
24:42it's going to be
24:42strategy
24:43Adam McLean went a
24:44little bit early
24:44I felt last time
24:45around
24:46let's wait and see
24:47what his tactics are
24:48during this race
24:49of course
24:49so out on to
24:51the run down to
24:51university now
24:52and even though
24:53these are little
24:53motorbikes
24:54they are fast
24:55oh yeah absolutely
24:56they are
24:57they're producing
24:57about 110 brake
24:59horsepower
24:59something like that
25:00and bearing in mind
25:01that most of these
25:01come out of the
25:02factory as a road
25:03bike at about
25:0470, 60, 70
25:05there you go
25:06and that bike
25:07looks so good
25:07it's got like a
25:08250 fairing on it
25:09the one that
25:09Richard Cooper's
25:10the aerodynamics
25:11I think these are
25:13the bikes that have
25:14been modified the
25:15most from stock
25:16at the end of the
25:17day all the
25:18classes that we've
25:18got the rules are
25:19quite tight
25:20but for this lot
25:21you can do
25:21whatever you want
25:22to do to modify
25:23them pretty much
25:23yeah more or
25:24less you can
25:24and quite expensive
25:25actually now
25:26it started off as
25:27a cheap system
25:27and it was
25:28the Kawasaki's
25:29that pretty much
25:30dominated it
25:31in the early days
25:32but now it's a
25:33real nice mix
25:34of Yamaha's
25:34Aprilia's
25:35Suzuka's
25:36and Yamaha's
25:37listen to that
25:37thing thundering
25:38along there
25:38Barry Ferber
25:39from Bishop's
25:39Castle on the
25:40Yamaha as well
25:41the number 80
25:41machine while we
25:42are away with
25:43the front two
25:44these two really
25:45have got to be
25:45the favourites
25:46for this surely
25:47we've seen them
25:48do battle already
25:49this week
25:49and they're doing
25:50it again
25:50we've also seen
25:51what Richard Cooper
25:52is capable of doing
25:53if push comes
25:54the shove
25:55and look at the
25:55advantage these two
25:56have already
25:56yeah I completely
25:57agree with it
25:58this is the race
25:58this is the battle
25:59for the win here
26:00four laps
26:01our race win
26:02our race distance
26:04I should say
26:04getting ahead of
26:05myself there
26:06that's for sure
26:06four laps then
26:07for the super twins
26:08and that's really
26:09enough
26:09yeah it's all sorted
26:11out isn't it
26:12after three to four
26:13laps I think
26:13there's no point
26:14in going on any
26:15further
26:15you see who's
26:16the fastest guy
26:16but you're right
26:18everyone's going to be
26:19working out where
26:19they're going to pass
26:20Cooper did it last time
26:21if you remember
26:22at the Metropole
26:22and then just split
26:23over the coast road
26:24Cooper on the brakes
26:26is getting a little
26:27bit scruffier though
26:28he's having to try
26:29a lot harder
26:30to stay in front
26:30in the braking area
26:31and we've seen him
26:32with his legs sticking out
26:33we call it the
26:34doctor's dangle
26:34because it's named
26:35after Valentino Rossi
26:36when you hang your leg
26:37out there
26:37look at that
26:38Adam McLean
26:39as soon as we get
26:39no slipstream
26:40it's just head to head
26:41against the wind
26:42McLean's motorbike
26:44looks very good indeed
26:45down through the gearbox
26:47then
26:47chicane again
26:49this one is
26:52macro boy chicane
26:54I notice that
26:56back at Mathers
26:57they've opened that
26:58chicane
26:58the entry to it
26:59just a little bit more
27:00now
27:00it's not quite as tight
27:01as it was
27:02it's still really tight
27:02look at this
27:03side by side
27:03the Flinic motorcycles
27:05machine
27:05just about blast by
27:07now then
27:08down into the houses
27:09of Portrush
27:09I love the overhead
27:10camera
27:11because it gives it
27:11a real clue
27:12on to who's good
27:13on the brakes
27:13there's barely a garden
27:15that isn't crammed full
27:16is there
27:16people sat in there
27:17enjoying the fantastic
27:18race we're having today
27:19and the weather
27:20for that matter
27:20it's been a beautiful
27:22week
27:22and it's set fair
27:23for Saturday
27:24you've got to say
27:26if you could have
27:26a weekend like this
27:27every single
27:28Northwest 200
27:29you wouldn't be able
27:30to get on the
27:30island of Ireland
27:31everyone would be here
27:32Richard Cooper then
27:33looking back on the
27:34Jack Reed car's
27:35machine
27:35but it's still
27:36will he be his
27:38nemesis
27:38will it be
27:39this time
27:40the Turner McLean
27:40will he manage
27:41to outfox
27:42Richard Cooper
27:43Cooper is a
27:44probably one of the
27:45most underrated
27:46riders
27:46unrecognised riders
27:48and he can ride
27:49any motorcycle
27:49from big old
27:50super stock
27:50down to these
27:51yeah he does
27:52he calls himself
27:52oh that was a nice
27:53move from Adam McLean
27:54using the performance
27:55of that Yamaha
27:56is Cooper
27:58weighing things up
27:58again
27:59Cooper calls himself
28:00a part time racer
28:01when you say that
28:02to other racers
28:02they're going
28:03that's his choice
28:04because he's good
28:04enough to be a full
28:05professional rider
28:06all the time
28:06McLean then leads
28:07and will he be able
28:08to make
28:09he's obviously
28:09confident to try
28:10and pull this away
28:11he's looking to me
28:12like he wants
28:13to make a break
28:13this is Paul Jordan
28:14on the Jackson Racing
28:15again Jackson Racing
28:16I mentioned it before
28:17lovely looking team
28:19good turnout
28:20loads of money spent
28:21yeah it is
28:22it's immaculate
28:22the bikes are
28:23the leathers
28:23the riders
28:24and everything else
28:25have a quick glance
28:25over your shoulder
28:26don't do that too often
28:27Alan Ventnor
28:28we're on board with now
28:29the TH Racing
28:29Hyrell Griffiths
28:30machinery
28:31past Juniper
28:33caravan site
28:34this used to be
28:35a massively fast
28:36right hander
28:36before they stuck
28:37that chicane in there
28:38I remember it well
28:39still McLean leading
28:40then as we head out
28:41to the countryside
28:42again
28:42this is heading out
28:43towards Coleraine
28:44from Port Stewart
28:45still looking back
28:47and the third place
28:48man dropping off
28:49now
28:50yeah it's called
28:51the nine mile triangle
28:52it's actually
28:538.97 miles around here
28:56more corners
28:56than there ever used to be
28:57oh look at this
28:57yeah
28:58as soon as you get
28:59a slipstream down
29:00here towards University
29:00of course the wind
29:01it's a headwind
29:02they're not pulling
29:02quite as high a speeds
29:04as perhaps they would do
29:05in the past
29:05but as soon as he gets
29:06alongside him
29:07that bike of
29:08I think he's rolling it again
29:10you think so
29:10yeah I genuinely think
29:11tactics
29:12tactically just rolling it a touch
29:14well I'm not going to argue
29:15with you on that one
29:16because it certainly
29:16looked like it to me
29:17Paul Jordan then
29:18we're back on board
29:19with looking into the face
29:20I prefer open face helmets
29:22oh sorry
29:22clear visor helmets
29:24not open face helmets
29:25I was going to say
29:25you're going back to your time now
29:27yeah they made out of cork
29:28at the chicane then
29:30look at this
29:31closing them down
29:32slowly but surely
29:33this is a good ride
29:34from the Jackson bike
29:35yeah Paul Jordan
29:38sat there in third position
29:39as we look from our heli cam
29:43who has the advantage
29:45on this four lap race
29:47looking through the speed trap
29:48155 mile an hour
29:49I think these are capable
29:50of something like
29:51170 miles an hour
29:52here
29:53Richard Cooper
29:53in 2023
29:55did 170.5
29:57that was the fastest
29:58Richard Cooper
29:58also holds the lap record
30:00here
30:00447.065
30:02Fred Clark
30:04sent me some messages
30:05to say that
30:06Richard Cooper's
30:06number 47
30:07is because his dad
30:08ran 47
30:09in the one race
30:10or the short racing
30:12career that his dad had
30:13so Richard Cooper
30:14sort of inherited
30:15the 47
30:16I wonder where it came from
30:17thank you very much Fred
30:18a legend of commentary
30:21yeah
30:21you wouldn't want to get
30:22his notes would you
30:23because you'd need
30:24a lorry to pick them up
30:25he's probably sleeping
30:27on them nowadays
30:28under the bridge
30:28then we go
30:29out onto the coast road
30:30and Paul Jordan
30:32he's got a
30:33well he's got a distant
30:34view of the two out front
30:35he doesn't seem to be
30:36able to make any inroads
30:37into the front two riders
30:39but Paul Jordan is there
30:40and
30:41bike looks a bit lively
30:42to be quite honest
30:43yeah it does
30:43through that particular
30:44movement
30:45as we look at the
30:46differential between
30:47the top two riders
30:48now then
30:49we're going to go
30:49into the braking area
30:50again
30:51watch out for
30:51McLean and Cooper
30:53McLean leads it
30:54from Cooper
30:55Cooper on the wider line
30:56this braking area here
30:57it's really really
30:58this is the place
30:59where you need to be
31:00dead sharp through here
31:01because if you get it
31:02right on the last lap
31:03you will be able
31:04to pull it
31:05oh down
31:07down
31:07he's tucked
31:07oh and he's clipped
31:08with his body
31:09he's not Richard Cooper
31:10off with his body
31:11Adam McLean
31:12tucked the front
31:13on the way in
31:13slid up the road
31:15and clouted
31:16Richard Cooper
31:16Cooper's out as well
31:17so that puts
31:18Paul Jordan leading
31:19the race
31:19Paul Jordan in front
31:19let's take another look
31:20watch the front end
31:21oh well we're going to
31:22get an onboard here
31:23but it just absolutely
31:24lost the front of the bike
31:25tucked the front
31:26and unfortunately
31:27yeah the bike
31:28and the rider
31:29Adam McLean
31:30slid out
31:30and just caught
31:31Richard Cooper
31:32gives you a clue
31:33just how fast they're going
31:34they're both up
31:36and I would say
31:36Adam McLean's saying
31:37sorry
31:38it'd have to be
31:39racing incident
31:40but a shame
31:41for them
31:42not for this man though
31:43ha
31:44yep
31:45this man is the new leader
31:46of course it is
31:47Paul Jordan
31:48Jackson Racing Machine
31:49we said what a beautiful
31:50looking bike it was
31:50Michael Sweeney
31:51look at that 65
31:52coming down there
31:53doing really good
31:54and Barry Ferber
31:55could be on the podium
31:56but it's close
31:56because AJ Vent
31:57is right behind him
31:58tell you what
31:59this scrap for
32:00this position
32:01is going to be
32:02a little bit special
32:03that is the battle
32:04for third place
32:05although the 1 and 2
32:06look like they're away
32:06at the moment
32:07but Michael Sweeney
32:08if he was to go
32:09on the podium
32:09that would for me
32:11equal the remarkable
32:12Ian Hutchinson
32:13who's come back
32:14to be on the podium
32:14this week as well
32:15yeah because he had a
32:17crash the same year
32:17as Lee Johnson
32:18two years ago
32:19didn't he
32:19they were both in
32:19hospital together
32:20and Lee Johnson
32:21said when he woke up
32:22and saw him beside him
32:23he thought he was
32:23having nightmares
32:24we can laugh about it
32:26now but we were
32:27worried about both of
32:28them at the time
32:28that's for sure
32:29so here's your race
32:30leader then
32:30the number 50
32:31Paul Jordan
32:32on the Jackson
32:32Racing Aprilia
32:33resplendent
32:35and looking
32:36cool calm
32:36and collected
32:37it looked as if
32:38he was trying
32:38quite hard
32:39he won't have to
32:40from where he is now
32:40a popular win
32:42this will be
32:42and so will Sweeney
32:43won't it
32:44the crowd
32:45will be loving this
32:45thundering down
32:49to the final part
32:50of the course
32:51past the Juniper
32:52Caravan site
32:53and on to
32:54the start and finish
32:55straight then
32:56it's a short shoot
32:57and he takes
32:58the checkered flag
32:59it is
32:59Paul Jordan
33:00Michael Sweeney
33:01will be a tear jerk
33:03in second place
33:03but we wait
33:04for the battle
33:04over the line
33:05who's it going to be
33:06for third
33:06Ferber or Venter
33:07it is Ferber
33:08Daryl Tweed
33:09gets 5th place
33:10Gottschi
33:11gets 6th place
33:12Poncini
33:127th
33:14Chris Duncan
33:148th
33:15Daniel Ingham
33:15and Dean McMaster
33:16round out
33:17the top 10
33:17Paul you are
33:25a North West
33:26200 winner
33:27give me your thoughts
33:29unbelievable
33:29you know we
33:30we didn't have
33:32the best practice
33:32as such
33:32we had problems
33:33with the bike
33:33even in the first race
33:34we had a bit of a problem
33:35and in the race
33:36I was struggling
33:38to stay with him
33:38Cameron will show that
33:40but you know
33:41still a North West
33:43200 win
33:43I'll take that
33:44any day of the week
33:44regardless of what
33:45the circumstances
33:46and you know
33:46hopefully both
33:47the two lads
33:47are ok
33:47but yeah
33:48Paul Jordan
33:49North West
33:49200 winner
33:50what does this
33:50mean to you?
33:51yeah
33:52we're Northern Ireland
33:53Northern Irishman
33:53wins
33:54what more can we ask for
33:55it's just amazing
33:56absolutely amazing
33:57I can't thank the team
33:58enough
33:58and Michael Sweeney
34:00in behind you
34:00as well
34:01you know after
34:01Sweeney's crash here
34:02you know it's
34:02I'm well made up for him
34:04I know how much
34:05this means to you
34:06so can you put it in
34:07to your own words
34:08in 23
34:09I thought that was
34:11going to be the end of it
34:11with the crash
34:13and then
34:15to come back
34:19and stand at a podium
34:21I never dreamed of standing here
34:23it's something really special
34:24I've always dreamed about
34:26winning a podium
34:27at an international
34:28and today we've done it
34:30I'm just so happy
34:31especially what happened
34:32a couple of years ago
34:32so to come back here
34:34and do it in the same class
34:35then what
34:36left me in a
34:38in a bad way
34:39but yeah
34:40it's something I'll never forget
34:41to be honest with you
34:42this is probably one of the best
34:43moments I've had in racing
34:44and Barry
34:46on the North West 200 podium
34:47has that taken you by surprise?
34:50took me completely by surprise
34:51I rode straight on
34:52through and into the Olden area
34:52and people were saying
34:53weren't you third?
34:54I've got a clue
34:55so yeah
34:56nice surprise
34:56just a big battle
34:58with Venter
34:58all the way through that really
34:59we were reeling
35:00Sweeney in at one point
35:02and I thought if we could have
35:02just got closer to him
35:03I know we're very similar paced
35:05and you never know
35:05what could have happened
35:06but yeah
35:07he rode well
35:07and we just couldn't quite catch him
35:09so emotional scenes
35:19on the podium
35:21as Paul Jordan
35:22secures his first
35:23North West 200 win
35:24and a remarkable
35:26comeback second place
35:27for Michael Sweeney
35:29it's time for
35:30the last race
35:31of this North West 200
35:32it's the super bikes again
35:34and here's Lee
35:35to explain the class
35:37we've called in the Honda Racing UK's tent
35:43to have a closer look
35:44at their super bike
35:45this is the class
35:46that everybody wants to win
35:48it's got the most power
35:49and it's the most expensive
35:50so we're going to run through
35:51some of the points
35:52that makes this
35:53the most expensive bike
35:54and makes it the fastest
35:56starting at the front
35:57we've got Olin's forks
35:5810 to 12,000 pounds
36:00Nissan brakes
36:026,000 pounds
36:03moving to the rear of the bike
36:04we've got a
36:05super swing arm
36:0612,000 pounds
36:08Olin's rear shock
36:096,000 pounds
36:10this exact bike
36:12of Dean Horaceon's
36:13was clocked at doing
36:13206 miles per hour
36:15through the speed trap
36:16and that all comes from
36:18an engine
36:19that has been tuned
36:19to upwards of 240 horsepower
36:22so that's what makes this
36:23one of the fastest super bikes
36:25on the grid right now
36:26well this is
36:28the number 6
36:29BMW super bike
36:31belonging to
36:31Michael Dunlop
36:32he's already won
36:34one super bike race
36:35at this year's
36:36Northwest 200
36:37Davey Todd
36:38won the other
36:39so who will win
36:40the big race of the day
36:42the most important
36:43the Northwest 200
36:45we shall see
36:46it's the big one
36:48everyone is stood up
36:50waiting for
36:51the Northwest 200
36:52feature race
36:52this is the one that counts
36:546 laps then
36:55Dean Harrison still yet to win
36:56his first big bike race
36:58but I tell you what
36:59Davey Todd and Michael Dunlop
37:01winners of the previous
37:02two super bikes
37:02are looking pretty keen
37:04they are
37:04the sun's gone in a bit
37:05the flags are not blowing as much
37:07the winds drop
37:08pretty much perfect conditions
37:09Davey Todd there
37:10stretching himself out again
37:12is he going to be the man
37:13that wins every start
37:14or gets away fastest
37:15we'll wait and find out
37:16Michael Dunlop
37:18will start from that
37:19second row of the grid
37:20there it is then
37:21Peter Hickman
37:21Davey Todd
37:22Dean Harrison
37:22across the front row
37:23Alistair Seeley
37:24Michael Dunlop
37:24there'll be a gap
37:25where Jamie Coward is
37:26Ian Hutchinson
37:27Erna Costamo
37:28and John McGuinness
37:28are on row 3
37:29row 4
37:30kicks off with
37:31Paul Jordan
37:32Mike Brown
37:32Michael Rutter
37:33Connor Cummings
37:34Nathan Harrison
37:35Josh Brooks
37:35Sam West
37:36David Johnson
37:37and Michael
37:38Ebenez
37:38qualifying was the same
37:40for all three
37:41super bike races
37:42Steve
37:42but this is the one
37:43that counts
37:44Scott Redding
37:46holds the billboard up
37:47Scott Redding
37:48points to the lights
37:49who's going to make
37:50the whole shot this time
37:51many bets will be
37:52on the 74 machine
37:53because he has been
37:54absolutely 100% perfect
37:56so far this week
37:57but it's Hickman
37:57that gets the drop
37:58on him
37:59so the teammates
38:00then lead into
38:01turn 1
38:01it is 60 Hickman
38:02from 74
38:03Seeley
38:04then Harrison
38:05then Michael Dunlop
38:06he got away better
38:07John McGuinness
38:07got a bad start
38:08from him
38:08as they go through
38:09Milbank Avenue
38:11and then head to
38:11Primrose
38:12and then who is going
38:13to get it stopped
38:14nicely
38:14and look at that
38:15Todd's through
38:16Todd's through
38:16Todd looked like
38:18he was going up
38:18the inside
38:18a little bit wide
38:19from Hickman again
38:20Hickman just running
38:21a little wide
38:21but his teammate
38:21has gone through
38:22and this is where
38:23Todd is so good
38:24he launches up the hill
38:25here
38:25just skims the top
38:26of the kerb
38:27with his knee
38:27as we held
38:28to the Mill Road
38:29roundabout
38:29into the braking area
38:31again
38:31back down the gearbox
38:32first gear for most
38:34it does seem
38:35that Davey Todd
38:36has a bit more
38:37competition
38:38the match
38:38was getting off the line
38:39and getting away
38:40these first few corners
38:41and it's the SMS
38:41Nickel Oils motorcycle
38:43that's in third place
38:44at the moment
38:44and that's Alistair Seeley
38:45that will go down well
38:46blasting out
38:48through Cremor
38:49out towards
38:50that frightening
38:51especially on the first lap
38:52when you've got a full tank of fuel
38:53and you're not too sure
38:54about how your tyres are in
38:55this corner
38:56station corner
38:57Seeley
38:57trying to get underneath
38:59did he do it?
39:00oh the side to side
39:01through station corner
39:02no way
39:02that's a bit special
39:04let's take a look at it again
39:05from the start
39:05Erna Costamo gives us
39:07he was a bit slack
39:07off the line there
39:08he was wouldn't he
39:09absolutely
39:10so here we go
39:11this is the view
39:12these guys are getting
39:12as they go through
39:13the first few corners
39:14and always just a tiny bit
39:15cautious Michael Dunlop there
39:17didn't get a fantastic start
39:18his leather's still scuffed up
39:19from that crash in practice
39:21yeah the old super stocker
39:22he had one
39:22launched himself out of the
39:24macro boy chicane
39:24here we go then
39:25oh the sun has come out
39:27specially for the
39:27final race of the day
39:29Alistair Seeley
39:29we're looking at
39:30at the moment
39:30but look at Dean
39:32oh wheelie as well
39:33from Dean Harrison
39:34as the power of the bike
39:36through comes Hutchinson
39:37as well
39:37Ian Hutchinson
39:38four bikes stuck together
39:40but look at that
39:41it's a lead
39:42that Todd has got already
39:43203 miles an hour
39:45that close together
39:47from Hickman
39:48we've seen 209 mile an hour
39:50on this trip
39:50earlier on in the week
39:51but of course
39:52with a slight headwind
39:53they're just not quite
39:54making that top end
39:55at the moment
39:56oh already Hickey out
39:57Hickman's out
39:58he's got his foot down
39:59that's Hickman out
40:00he's looking down
40:01isn't he looking down
40:02on that side of the fight
40:03he's had a torrid week
40:05hasn't he
40:05one way or another
40:06he's not a happy man
40:07that is for sure
40:08so Peter Hickman out
40:10meanwhile his teammate
40:13at the 8.10 team
40:15is out front
40:16that's Hutchinson
40:17great to see him on the podium
40:18the other day as well
40:19Ian Hutchinson
40:20back from massive injury
40:23and a stroke
40:24yeah the move of
40:26MLAV racing
40:27BMW from Ian Hutchinson
40:29who's still got one leg
40:30that's not real good
40:31he had to switch his
40:32gear ship from the left
40:34to the right hand side
40:35but the left hand side
40:36of him is still a little
40:36bit gangly as he admits to
40:38Michael Laverty was here
40:39of course to oversee
40:40his roads campaign
40:41this year
40:42and he came from
40:43the BSB series
40:44and then he flew out
40:45to Le Mans of course
40:46because he's commentating
40:47for TNT out there
40:48so Michael Laverty
40:48three jobs in one week
40:50Laverty should be known as
40:51look at the way
40:52they've made that
40:53oh someone just went
40:54across the grass there
40:55at the back of that
40:55couldn't quite catch
40:57who it was
40:57but someone just
40:58cut the kerb off
40:59I was going to say
41:00they opened that kerb
41:01out a little bit
41:01there as well
41:02to make it not
41:02quite so sharp
41:04Alistair Sealy
41:05we're looking at again
41:05that's Hutchinson
41:07Hutchinson now
41:08helicopter up in the air
41:09there giving us
41:10the pictures
41:10down here
41:11at ground level
41:12look at the fans
41:13you were right
41:14it's the 62 machine
41:15that's gone grass tracking
41:16we've seen a bit of that
41:17yeah that was
41:18Maurizio Botallica
41:20the San Marino Italy
41:22he looks like he quite
41:23likes it out there
41:23he does doesn't he
41:24because we saw
41:25Josh Brooks
41:26I think earlier in the week
41:27yeah it was across
41:28the field as well
41:29so whether that man
41:30touched the kerb
41:31and did the same
41:31anyway moving from
41:33his left to his right
41:34and into the breaking
41:36area
41:36the 74 of Todd
41:37being chased by
41:38Dean Harrison
41:38on the three
41:39then it's Alistair Sealy
41:40and then we've got
41:41the
41:42there's John McGuinness
41:43good to see McGuinness
41:44and behind him
41:44Rutter
41:45the two 53 year olds
41:47it's a personal battle
41:47between those two
41:48isn't it
41:48every single time
41:49we come to the roads
41:50still it is Hutchinson
41:52that's hunting down Sealy
41:53and then it's that man
41:54the number six
41:55Michael Dunlop
41:56Dunlop has already
41:58had a win in race two
41:59of the super bikes
42:00this week
42:00it was Davey Todd
42:01who took race one
42:02on Thursday
42:03in the super bikes
42:04Michael Dunlop
42:06and the crowd
42:07and Michael
42:08would love to win
42:08this one
42:09it's the big one
42:09he's on that
42:10semi-factory
42:111000cc machine
42:13I'm guessing around
42:13about 250 brake horsepower
42:15and there he's used it
42:16wow
42:16is there a puff of smoke
42:17do you know
42:18I thought I saw
42:19that earlier on
42:20there was quite a lot
42:20of changes going on
42:21down on the grid
42:22as well
42:22because of the way
42:23the wind has changed
42:24slightly
42:24you wonder whether
42:25they've been moving
42:26the bikes about
42:27gearing wise
42:28and the like as well
42:29but it is
42:30anyway
42:31so Michael Dunlop
42:32in the hunt here
42:33of course
42:34charging along
42:35dark line everywhere
42:36absolutely laying
42:37rubber down through there
42:38it's always good
42:39when you get to the
42:39last race as well
42:40because the track
42:41is at its grippiest
42:41when you want to
42:42try your hardest
42:43the track is at its grippiest
42:44yeah
42:45it's all cleaned up
42:46dust has all gone
42:46through everyone's eyes
42:47screens and fairies
42:49a lot of these fights
42:50when you look at them
42:50they're absolutely
42:52peppered with stones
42:53and the forks as well
42:54the fork legs are worth
42:55a load of money
42:56they've got guards on them
42:57they've got guards on them
42:57they've got guards in front
42:58of the forks
42:59they've got guards on the radiators
43:00because that can also
43:01just ruin your race
43:02but it gets your knuckles
43:03it gets your face
43:04and when you get a stone
43:05on the knuckle
43:05it is really painful
43:07so Davey Todd still leads
43:08by eight tenths of a second
43:09over the line
43:10from Dean Harrison
43:11Peter Hickman is going out
43:13so Hickman
43:13that's the end of Hickie
43:15he's made it round to Pitts
43:16and that will be the end
43:17of his campaign this year
43:19he said a little earlier on
43:20he's not coming back
43:21yeah
43:22he's not had a win this year
43:23which is unusual
43:24for Peter Hickman
43:25his team mate has though
43:26isn't he Todd
43:26we're on lap three
43:28of six laps
43:28I remind you
43:29used to be seven
43:30it's been shortened before
43:31but we've had no tyre
43:32problems this week
43:34so we will go the full distance
43:36of six laps
43:36that gives you an idea
43:39through comes Dean Harrison
43:40Dean Harrison
43:41on the superbike Honda
43:43remember last year
43:44he ran a super stocker
43:45in this race
43:45this year
43:46he's got the full-blown
43:47Honda superbike
43:48and they have done
43:49a remarkable job
43:50of getting the handling
43:51of that sorted out
43:52it looked like an absolute pig
43:53earlier on in the week
43:54as soon as he got in the dirty air
43:56it was shaking its head
43:56all over the place
43:57yeah the first race
43:58we saw Dean Harrison
43:59get off the bike
43:59absolutely destroyed
44:00he wasn't he
44:01he was just trying to
44:02click onto that bike
44:02but they have
44:03those engineers
44:03have worked that bike out
44:05I still keep thinking
44:06I see a little puff of smoke
44:07off of Dunlop's bike
44:08at the end of that other straight
44:09here we go
44:10maybe you're just seeing things
44:11yeah maybe
44:12we'll find out
44:12we were trying to work out
44:13the speed going this way
44:14it's not far off is it
44:16of the run back down
44:18towards University
44:18yeah the run to University
44:21is 200
44:21it's the fastest part of it
44:22200 mile an hour plus
44:23but we're getting
44:24185 mile an hour
44:25down to this corner
44:27which is the
44:28Mathers Cross
44:29chicane
44:30and then we've got
44:31the Mackerel Boy chicane
44:32breaking up this
44:32what was
44:33one of the fastest parts
44:34of the course
44:35but as you get down
44:35to Port Rush
44:36you're downhill
44:37as well as a long
44:38old run
44:39into the breaking area
44:40at Metropole
44:41meanwhile moving
44:42from one side
44:43to the other
44:43of the track
44:44I wonder whether
44:44that's because
44:45of the bumps
44:45they've all got
44:46a preference
44:47of whereabouts
44:47they are on the track
44:48to try and avoid
44:49manholes
44:50and particular bumps
44:51yeah
44:51muscle memory
44:52told by Mick Grant
44:53many years ago
44:54down the middle of the road
44:55I said is that the smoothest
44:56he said no
44:56you're furthest
44:57away from the trees
44:58or the grass verge
45:00Mick Grant
45:01now there's a legend
45:02glad you brought him up
45:03now then
45:04into the houses
45:04down towards Metropole
45:06and we're not wrong
45:09with the speed
45:10of Michael Dunlop's
45:11fight
45:11Michael Dunlop's
45:12machine is looking
45:14pretty sharp
45:15all the way through
45:15this week
45:17as David Todd
45:18tips in
45:19looks relatively gentle
45:21Dunlop
45:23oh that inside line
45:24that Dunlop
45:24manages to pull
45:25there
45:25that was brilliant
45:26to get underneath
45:27Dean Harrison
45:28Dean Harrison
45:28a little bit wide
45:30maybe he's just got it
45:30a little bit wrong
45:31and Dunlop just drove
45:33underneath him
45:33is that talent
45:34or is the motorbike
45:35just that bit better
45:36at the minute
45:37yeah
45:37well local knowledge
45:39would come easily
45:39to Michael Dunlop
45:40wouldn't it
45:41front wheel up in the air
45:42as they go up
45:42towards Black Hill
45:43love that
45:44this section
45:44onto the straight
45:45onto the coast road
45:47here
45:47it's where Dean Harrison
45:48looks very good
45:49into the braking point
45:50oh look at Michael Dunlop
45:52surely not round the outside
45:53into the braking area
45:54of the Juniper chicane
45:55he's just driven by
45:56that bike looks so quick
45:58and done
45:58oh well you didn't
45:59expect it really
46:00wouldn't you
46:01the man that's great
46:02on the brakes
46:02David Todd slides
46:03back under Dunlop
46:04you've got a gravel trap
46:07there if you're not careful
46:08if you run on
46:08we've seen that used
46:09a bit this week
46:10now then
46:11look at Dunlop again
46:12that bike peeks
46:13out the corner
46:14and now he's got that
46:15no surely not
46:16oh it's not just
46:17it's power
46:17it's just the way
46:18he's getting the grip
46:19as well isn't he
46:20yeah I wouldn't have
46:20expected him to be able
46:21to get under somebody
46:22before we get to
46:22the start and finish line
46:23but maybe he was
46:25he's got it all worked out
46:26Dunlop
46:27he just looks like
46:27he can put his motorbike
46:28on parts of the track
46:29no one else can use
46:30Todd Dunlop
46:31Harrison and Seeley
46:33still hanging on in
46:34fourth place
46:35we're on lap four
46:36of six
46:36Seeley doing a good job
46:38remember that's a
46:39super stock machine
46:40it's got standardish
46:41type brakes on it
46:42it's got nothing
46:43quite like the
46:44horsepower
46:44it really shouldn't
46:45compete should it
46:46with super bikes
46:47super bikes are only
46:48a tad better than
46:48super stockers
46:49but that tad
46:50counts in the hands
46:52of these men
46:53Josh Brooks having
46:53his better ride
46:54he's there in fifth
46:55place
46:55McInnes six
46:56that's good
46:56Ernest Costama
46:57seventh
46:58Rutter in eighth
46:59on the run
47:01up to the
47:02Milrow roundabout
47:02then
47:02Todd and Dunlop
47:04with Harrison
47:05in close attendance
47:06this is going to be
47:08a kind of
47:09war of attrition
47:10to try and work out
47:11who's got the best
47:12tyre
47:13and strategy
47:14by the end
47:15of this session
47:16six laps of course
47:17they all want to win
47:18this one
47:18this is the big one
47:19the feature race
47:20yeah
47:20more prize money
47:21they must be thinking
47:22about that as well
47:23they won't be at the
47:23moment thinking about
47:24that they'll be working
47:25out who's going to be
47:25where and what time
47:26Dunlop again
47:28Michael Dunlop
47:29on that big BMW
47:30that serious
47:31to do that before
47:32you get to station
47:33is pretty impressive
47:34because it's just
47:35flat out there
47:36there isn't really
47:37any tactics you can
47:38have
47:38you're just wringing
47:39its neck all the way
47:40mind you
47:41then you provide
47:42the slipstream
47:42all the way down
47:43to university
47:44and David Todd
47:44is sitting in the
47:45slipstream of Michael
47:46Dunlop now
47:47Dunlop looking very
47:48very good indeed
47:49sitting in the slipstream
47:50is the word
47:51though not passing
47:52in the slipstream
47:52yeah and that is
47:53the critical part
47:54of it isn't it
47:55did he intend
47:55to sit in it
47:56and not pass
47:57was he rolling
47:58it slightly
47:58to stay behind
47:59Michael Dunlop
48:00and see what
48:00Michael Dunlop
48:01was capable of
48:02Dean Harrison
48:03looked to the inside
48:03but it's David Todd
48:04still in second place
48:06Dunlop leads
48:06as we go on
48:07to the link road
48:08at university
48:09listen to David Todd's
48:12BMW
48:13absolutely screaming
48:14they are the bike
48:15of the moment
48:16aren't they
48:16and of course
48:17a lot of these guys
48:17will be looking forward
48:18to the TT
48:19getting their motorbike
48:20sorted out
48:21and I think Dave
48:21if Dean Harrison
48:22can't win one
48:23here at Northwest 200
48:24he's going to be happy
48:25to know that his Honda
48:26is competitive
48:27on the roads
48:28and that's the important
48:28thing for them
48:29Honda are looking again
48:30for that TT win
48:32Dunlop still leads
48:33he's stretching it
48:34again
48:34that bike is so sharp
48:36bumpy here
48:38really very bumpy
48:39oh what's happened
48:40Dunlop pulling off
48:41Dunlop has pulling off
48:42Dunlop has a problem there
48:43it looked like
48:44it was smoking Steve
48:45you said earlier
48:46you thought you saw smoke
48:47I thought I saw a little bit there
48:48but he's pulling off
48:49completely
48:49so it's now
48:50a two man race
48:51silly
48:52clinging on as best he can
48:53but it is clearly
48:55now between Todd
48:56and Harrison
48:56well Michael Dunlop
48:57is out
48:58that's going to be
48:59a disappointment
48:59for all the crowds
49:00that have stayed here
49:01he looks to the back
49:01of the bike
49:02the front of the bike
49:03and the whole bit of the bike
49:04so he has a problem there
49:06with yeah
49:06and that's
49:07looking at the rear tyre
49:08guess what that says
49:09when you nod your head like that
49:11it is a four letter word
49:12yeah it will be
49:13he's not happy
49:14so maybe
49:16he's looking at the rear tyre
49:18well I can't
49:20well he's on Dunlop's
49:21Dunlop's and Metzler's
49:23but there's been no problem
49:24with Dunlop's and Metzler's
49:25all week
49:25so
49:26and it's early in the race
49:27relatively
49:27well we're at five
49:28but that was still
49:30he's done the races before
49:31tyres have been
49:32not an issue
49:33this year
49:34from either
49:34manufacturer
49:35meanwhile
49:38Davey Todd
49:40can he make it a double
49:42Davey Todd
49:43from Dean Harrison
49:44still Alistair Seeley
49:45there
49:45in third place
49:47I tell you what
49:47Seeley manages to get a podium
49:48on a super stock bike
49:50that will be a little bit special
49:51that will be very impressive
49:52Josh Brooks up to fourth
49:54as well
49:54John McGinnis fifth
49:55wow
49:56it's a race of attrition
49:57I mean we've had Hickman out
49:59we've had Dunlop out now
50:00flames out the back
50:03looking good
50:04I'm surprised they're not that tight on fuel
50:06because normally they lean them off
50:08if they aren't tight on fuel
50:09yeah they don't like them burning like that
50:11do they
50:11an excess of fuel
50:12but it does make it easier to ride
50:13if it's not too sharp
50:14off the throttle
50:16throttle mapping nowadays
50:18fuel mapping nowadays
50:19is so critical
50:20so the BMW
50:21so the BMW of the 810 racing teamster
50:23Davey Todd
50:24he owns the team
50:26his partnership with Peter Hickman
50:28he's used up all his tear-offs
50:29he's getting a lot of flies on his visor
50:31but there's only a lap or so to go
50:32helicopter keeping an eye on him
50:34as we come round and start that last lap
50:37into this braking area
50:38now both these men
50:39are really good just here
50:41we've seen them make passes
50:42into this chicane
50:43but Dean Harrison
50:44just doesn't seem to be able
50:45to get as close as he needs to get
50:48to Davey Todd out front
50:49sunlight
50:51making our cameras
50:53shine bright
50:54as it goes lower over the bay
50:56we predicted lap record to go
50:58but I think that wind stopped that happening
51:00we've been very very close to it
51:02last lap we're starting right now
51:04but Michael Dunlop got the closest he got
51:06within a second of the lap record
51:07we saw the super sport lap record go to Dunlop
51:10but I think that head wind has really curtailed them
51:13down the coast road we go again
51:16for the last time then
51:17Primrose Hill for the last time
51:20down to the braking area
51:21at York Road for the last time
51:23this is Alistair Seeley
51:24in third place
51:25and a safe third place
51:27oh hang on
51:28that's dust
51:28oh that worried me there
51:30because he had one blow up
51:30on Thursday
51:31we can do without another one today
51:33especially if you're in a podium position
51:35so Seeley
51:36that's sweet
51:38considering the motor in that bike
51:40is a little bit older
51:41than perhaps he prefer
51:42done a great job
51:44you can hear in the low gears
51:45they just drop the cylinder a little bit
51:47to just drop the power down
51:48the last thing you want is 200 plus
51:50in first gear on one of these
51:52yeah trying to spit you to the mood
51:54waving to Seeley I think
51:56yeah I think probably Seeley
51:57is getting the encouragement
51:58but three seconds off
51:59and that isn't going to work for him
52:01I'm afraid
52:01from back there
52:02it's about these two
52:03and to be honest with you Steve
52:05David Todd
52:06barring a mistake
52:07has got this pretty much covered
52:08he's using all of the road
52:09there in the station
52:10right out from the left hand side
52:11cuts to the apex
52:12and then keeps it singing
52:13doesn't even roll out the throttle
52:15for a bit of a confidence
52:17move to the front end
52:19here comes Dean Harrison
52:20but surely he's too far away
52:22to pick up
52:23I don't think he is now
52:24look at that
52:25he's closing and closing
52:26the whole time we are
52:26on the last lap
52:27wow that Honda is sharp isn't it
52:29but he's got to get round the outside
52:31if he can
52:32into the braking area
52:33and Todd
52:34like Harrison
52:35is an absolute magician
52:37on the brakes
52:37both looking pretty stable now
52:40as we rightly said
52:42that Honda is so much better
52:44than it was at the start
52:45the problem is
52:45the BMW has got such big wings on it
52:47it messes the air up
52:48you've got so much turbulent air
52:50all around the BMW
52:51the Honda just couldn't cope with it
52:52earlier on in the week
52:53but that Honda looks
52:54absolutely sharp now
52:56so Dean Harrison
52:56if nothing else
52:58they've done a great job
52:59now can Dean Harrison
53:00snatch this race win
53:01he needs
53:02he's been second so many times
53:04yet to win a big bike race here
53:06Dean Harrison
53:07mind you that was said
53:08about David Todd
53:08before we came here this week
53:09and he's now had
53:10a couple of wins
53:12yeah and another of wins
53:13he's on seven wins now
53:15I think is David Todd
53:16it's all sort of come together
53:18lots of cars out
53:19oh hang on
53:19they're slowing
53:20Dean Harrison is slowing
53:21red flag
53:22red flag
53:23you can say
53:23so that will be it then
53:25they're on their last lap
53:26so that will be a race
53:27they will call that as a race
53:29because it's done enough distance
53:30to make it a race finish
53:32so we can look at that
53:34that will be
53:34Davey Todd
53:35Dean Harrison
53:36Alistair Seeley
53:37Ian Hutchinson
53:38is there in fourth place
53:39Josh Brooks fifth
53:40John McGuinness sixth
53:42that's how they went across the line
53:43last time around
53:44so that'll be it
53:46they'll probably stop them
53:47at Metropole
53:48they usually pile everybody
53:50at Metropole
53:50so there's been a problem
53:51along the coast road
53:52depends where the accident is
53:53I'm assuming that
53:54you never know
53:55but anyway
53:56what a way to finish
53:56unfortunately a bit disappointing
53:58I'm going to say
53:59because I was looking forward
53:59to a massive scrap
54:00between these two
54:01and Dean Harrison
54:02didn't look like
54:03he'd given it up yet
54:03there it is then
54:04Todd Harrison Seeley
54:05on the podium
54:06Ian Hutchinson
54:07a fine week for him
54:08in fourth place
54:09great to see him back
54:10Josh Brooks was there as well
54:12he managed to make
54:12the most of his week
54:13McGuinness Costamo
54:14were rounding out
54:15their fine week too
54:16you're starting to rack up
54:22the winds here
54:23that's nine in total
54:24in a short space of time
54:26yeah absolutely
54:27I love it here
54:28I feel like I go
54:30really well here
54:31and
54:31you know
54:32I just enjoy
54:34every part of coming here
54:36apart from this morning
54:37you know
54:37the atmosphere
54:38the crowds here
54:39the people
54:39everything about
54:40being at the Northwest 200
54:41is fantastic
54:42I love the track
54:44the racing
54:45the battles
54:45it's so much fun
54:47and to be able
54:48to come here
54:48and start
54:50racking up
54:50a few victories
54:51is something really cool
54:53and yeah
54:54I'm over the moon
54:56to be able
54:57to take on
54:58the mantle
54:59a little bit
54:59from Glenn
55:00all the wins
55:01he's been taking off me
55:02the last few years
55:04and you know
55:05to start getting
55:06them two bike wins
55:07means a lot to me
55:08Dean
55:08podium number five
55:10of this event
55:11I can't complain at all
55:13really can I
55:13obviously that race
55:14then were cut short
55:15unfortunately
55:15but I was sort of
55:16sat there
55:17and I was quite comfortable
55:18sat there running the pace
55:19and I wanted to show
55:20where everyone walks
55:21I saw Michael at one point
55:22I saw Alistair at one point
55:23and I wanted to show
55:24where Pete was
55:25so I thought
55:25I know everyone's
55:25going to be going a bit
55:26I had a bit of a
55:27I think I had a three second gap
55:28I think to third
55:29and I just thought
55:29right I'll sit with David here
55:30I did pass him a couple of times
55:32and lead a little bit
55:32but he came straight back through
55:34and I just thought
55:34I'm best off just waiting
55:36until having to do
55:36at Juniper here
55:37so I just sat there
55:38coming following him
55:38and thought right
55:39the plan was to try
55:40and have a bit of a go
55:41but unfortunately
55:42we got cut a little bit short
55:42so now I'm going to have
55:44to come back next year
55:44Alistair back in the
55:46winner's enclosure
55:47for the 44th time
55:50another podium
55:52amazing
55:52yeah it's awesome
55:53to be in here
55:54I didn't think it was
55:55going to happen
55:55just with Thursday night
55:57the way we luck
55:57was good luck
55:58up to qualifying
55:59through practice
56:00felt good
56:01and then obviously
56:01the engine
56:01but that's racing for you
56:03you just have to dig in
56:04go again
56:05team gave me a great bike
56:06obviously Superstock race
56:07before that
56:08the clutch ended up
56:09slipping
56:09so new clutch in it
56:10boys done a wonder job
56:11in the time that we had
56:12got the mess of tires in it
56:14and then just spun some laps
56:15and actually
56:16about second lap
56:17third lap
56:18I could see that
56:18I was actually
56:19crawling back to them
56:20a wee bit
56:20and I thought right
56:21we'll maybe dig in here
56:22and see
56:23but I just fight
56:24in places with the bike
56:25and the wee man
56:26on a big bike
56:27sometimes it's a bit
56:28of a handful
56:28so I thought right
56:29let them two
56:29tear away in that last lap
56:31anything can happen
56:32at the front
56:33just bring it home
56:34for a podium
56:34because I was happy
56:36enough to settle
56:36for a podium
56:37so big thank you
56:38to SMS Nickel Oils
56:39and all the boys
56:40working hard this week
56:41and yes
56:41nice to finish off
56:42cap it off
56:43way of putting
56:43so Davey Todd
56:51takes his third win
56:52of the North West 200
56:53to round off Lee
56:55what has been
56:56a fabulous event
56:57yeah
56:57unbelievable achievement
56:59by Davey
56:59coming here
57:00and not having
57:01a big bike win
57:01and getting
57:02a super bike win
57:03so for him
57:04and the whole
57:04EA 10 team
57:05new team
57:06both team owners
57:07but it goes
57:083-0 to Davey Todd
57:09on the team owner
57:10championship
57:11going so far
57:12and a hat trick
57:13for Michael Dunlop
57:14to equal the achievements
57:15of his late father
57:16Robert
57:16and in the 25th
57:18anniversary year
57:19of his uncle
57:20Joey's passing
57:21it's quite fitting
57:21yeah I think
57:22we're seeing the best
57:23version of Michael Dunlop
57:25right now
57:25the whole pressure
57:26come from
57:27equaling the TT
57:28and beating the TT
57:30record
57:30and now we're seeing
57:31him come to the North West
57:32and really compete
57:33for them wins
57:34your highlight
57:35this year
57:35I think it has to be
57:37a personal one
57:38seeing Paul Jordan
57:38win the Super Twin race
57:40is credit to him
57:41first international win
57:42so for him
57:42and the Jackson team
57:44really really good
57:45but on an emotional side
57:46I think it has to be
57:47Ian Hutchison
57:47getting the podium again
57:48after everything
57:49he's been through
57:50it's just
57:51it's an amazing achievement
57:52for him and his family
57:53and the team
57:54yeah it's been emotional
57:55and it's been dramatic
57:56and you can relive
57:58all of the North West
57:59200 action again
58:00all of our highlights
58:02programmes
