00:00I
00:30Hello there, welcome back to the Isle of Man.
00:51Superbike Monday doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Superbike Sunday,
00:54but the thousands of fans here on the island didn't care about that.
00:58After a long wait, it was finally time for the 2025 TT races to get going today
01:04with the RST D3O Superbike TT.
01:08It was a long wait, there was a nervous anticipation for the riders as well
01:11as they rolled up to the start line where Grace Webb and Lee Johnston were for us.
01:16Yeah, thanks Matt.
01:18We are now out on the grid after a short delay to today's race.
01:22Well, we have just come next to Michael Dunlop's World Superbike prepared superbike
01:30that he's taking around the TT.
01:31Now, this is the bike that's as close to the spec that you'd see on top rack,
01:37Rasgatlioglu's World Superbike BMW.
01:41They've had to do a lot of work to set this up for the TT though, haven't they Lee?
01:44Yeah, I was quite surprised with that because he went really well at the North West 200 line.
01:49I know that that's a very different track to here.
01:52People think just because it's a road race it's the same thing,
01:55but honestly if Olton Park is probably a closer as a setting wise goes for motorbikes,
02:01I guess the conversation is going to stop today once we see that first lap in
02:05and what the lap times are.
02:07Yeah, shall we see if we can just grab a quick word with Dean?
02:09Because he is the favourite for this one.
02:11Hey Dean, if we could just grab a quick word, you are the favourite going into this race.
02:15Are you feeling confident for the superbike?
02:17No, you've just made me feel a whole lot worse by telling me I'm the favourite.
02:21No, I feel okay.
02:22I think I can go quickly when I'm in practice,
02:24so I'll just get the head down from the start
02:27and see where we are the first few, or the last of the last one really.
02:31You're the favourite because you've got lots of people rooting for you, Dean.
02:33Have fun out there.
02:36Yeah, he's...
02:37I've not put the pressure on too much there have, Ali.
02:40No, he is, he is, you can see it in his eyes.
02:43Dean's very determined for this now and, yeah, feeling very, very confident.
02:47So I think we're going to go back to the guys in the studio.
02:50Yeah, we look forward to this one.
02:51So let's get to our race commentators, Cameron Donald and Andrew Coley.
02:55Finally then, it is time to go racing on the Isle of Man
03:06after a tumultuous practice week with weather delays.
03:10Right up to the start of this one, the riders will be nervous
03:13as they head out on the big bikes for the first race of race week.
03:1637.73 miles, four laps, one pit stop in the middle.
03:21Who better to lead us off the line than this man?
03:24John McGuinness, a legend of the island.
03:28Running the number one, look at the focus down the road.
03:31Hand up.
03:32The tap on the shoulder, he clunks the bike into gear.
03:36Look over on the right-hand side for your starter.
03:41And finally, we're away for TT25.
03:43McGuinness with his 112th start off down towards Bray Hill.
03:47Next up, Davo Johnson on the Kawasaki.
03:50Fellow Australian Cameron Donald here.
03:52Cam, you know what this is like.
03:53First race of the week.
03:54Got to get those nerves out of the way,
03:56especially after the practice week these guys have had.
03:58Absolutely, and straight out on that big bike.
04:00There's no easy into it on the super bike.
04:02Fastest machines on course.
04:04Dean Harrison's had a great week, hasn't he,
04:05in the run-up to the start here.
04:07Been quick on all machinery.
04:08We're on board with him now.
04:09Absolutely through a blistering time down
04:11on the second night of practice.
04:13133 miles an hour to top the chart
04:15for most of qualifying weeks.
04:17Up and over, Agos just slip up a wheel.
04:19Look, and now on the run down to the first big braking zone
04:22at Quarter Bridge.
04:24And laying the bike down on the right-hand side.
04:25Here it is, look, from the kerb at the bottom of Bray Hill.
04:28There is nothing like this place.
04:30Michael Dunlop, after his 30th victory,
04:33going to have to beat this man as well, though, Davey Todd.
04:36Of course, his teammate and fellow team owner,
04:38Peter Hickman, missing after falling in practice.
04:41So we're down to the fast three, I think it's fair to say,
04:43but Todd is going to be a threat for sure.
04:45He surely is.
04:46It's definitely between these top three.
04:48They are the favourites as we head into this first
04:50big bike TT race 2025.
04:53Down past the kerbs.
04:58Unbelievable.
04:59Just the speed of it.
05:00You've just got to switch on straight away.
05:04You certainly do.
05:05No warm-up lap, no siding lap.
05:06Straight into it.
05:07As we look from the helicopter view,
05:09John McGuinness, number one on the bike,
05:11number one on road.
05:13McGuinness has been pretty honest this week, Cameron.
05:15He said he hasn't really enjoyed practice week.
05:17Just found it, I guess, too bitty.
05:20John says he just wants to go racing.
05:22That's the best way to settle the nerves.
05:24I tell you, it's hurry up and wait.
05:26It's been hurry up and wait all week.
05:27They've been getting up early in the morning,
05:29waiting for their run.
05:29Harrison through.
05:31Oh, my goodness me.
05:32The commitment straight away at Gorsley.
05:34Not using all the road on this first lap,
05:36but getting there.
05:36Whoa!
05:37Michael Dunlop flicking it through the right hand.
05:40You see the back tyres step out.
05:42There's no questioning how hard Michael's pushing.
05:45Davey Todd also pushing hard.
05:47They want to get a head start, don't they?
05:49They want to get in there and start setting fast sector times immediately.
05:53Try and break the other riders if they can.
05:55It's only four laps down from six.
05:57We've still got, of course, the pit stop in the middle of the race.
05:59Anything can happen there.
06:00We've got that first sector from the start line to the Glen Helen section.
06:03We expect these top riders to be separated by just seconds.
06:07They can't afford to give anything away to the competition.
06:10They break hard down to the right hander at Balacrane Traffic Lights.
06:13As we come through, Glen Helen for the first time.
06:19Blue skies in the background.
06:20You're on board with Josh Brooks.
06:22Rear-facing camera looking back.
06:24Watching Davey Todd just close that gap rapidly.
06:27Of course, last year, Josh was on a BMW himself
06:30with the Jackson's Honda team this year.
06:33Todd's all over him.
06:34Looking for a way through already.
06:36Yeah, he needs to get past.
06:37He can't waste any time.
06:39Slots it up the inside.
06:41Nicely done.
06:42Decisive move.
06:43Clean as you like.
06:45Davey Todd then leading at Glen Helen
06:47by just four hundredths of a second from Dean Harrison.
06:50Michael Dunlop, a further 2.8 back.
06:52We're on board with Davo Johnson now.
06:54Oh, and he gets past.
06:55Well, Dean Harrison, top of Begaro.
06:57Now, that certainly is a place to pass.
07:00And look at the ground.
07:01He's already pulling.
07:02Davo will use this, though.
07:04He won't let him go.
07:05Hang on as much as he can.
07:07Bottom of Begaro is just unbelievable.
07:10The compression through there.
07:11The commitment that's needed.
07:13Lee Johnson described it beautifully earlier on this week
07:15in practice week about the top and the bottom of it.
07:18Such commitment through there.
07:19It is.
07:21Baby Todd.
07:23Oh, on the white line.
07:25There's no more room than that on the brakes, surely.
07:27You literally jump the bike into the bottom of Begaro.
07:30You feel like your feet are going to go through the floor.
07:33Maximum pressure on the bike and rider alive.
07:39Balaf, bridge.
07:41John McInnes, the first to get there.
07:44That's Dean Harrison coming through behind him.
07:46Interesting to see the different techniques as they jump over Balaf.
07:51John keeping that nice small jump.
07:52Doesn't want to put the bike under any more strain.
07:56This is a pretty similar view, Cam, isn't it,
07:58to what you guys get when you're tucked in behind the fairing.
08:01Talking about tucked in behind.
08:03Michael Dunlop caught.
08:04James Hillier under brakes.
08:06Balaf, bridge.
08:07Launches it.
08:08The typical Michael Dunlop.
08:09Front with a landing.
08:10He's back on the power.
08:11He's going to want to draft past James as quickly as we can.
08:16Davey Todd.
08:17Oh, look at that.
08:18Without a doubt, the most stylish on the jump over that.
08:21That's that motocross heritage.
08:23You can see it, can't you?
08:24Yeah, straight onto the back wheel and away.
08:26Harrison up behind his teammate John McInnes now.
08:29We'll look to dispatch him as quickly as he can.
08:31Gets alongside him on the brakes.
08:33Nicely done up the inside.
08:34So Harrison now leads on the road.
08:36Davey Todd leads on the leaderboard.
08:38Two seconds is the gap at Balaf.
08:40Further 2.8 back to Michael Dunlop.
08:42So just under five seconds across the top three.
08:44That's a decent gap for Todd after a couple of sectors.
08:47It certainly is.
08:47He is the one that is leading the charge.
08:50How good does that look?
08:51Both team Honda machines flying in tandem as they work their way up through Whitegate.
08:56Nathan Harrison up in P4 as well.
08:59Right up there.
09:00Not far off in terms of late.
09:01This is his first TT that he's been fit at in a number of years.
09:04Brilliant performance so far.
09:05Long way to go.
09:07Incredible opening effort by the young Manxman.
09:10Up through Stella Marison now into the hairpin.
09:14The Ramsey hairpin for the first time.
09:15And up the mountain for the first time in anger.
09:17Here comes Dunlop.
09:18How angry is he riding that bike?
09:21He's committed.
09:23Yeah, he's certainly trying.
09:25He sees he's using all the road and then some.
09:27Muscling that rocket racing.
09:30BMW M1000RR.
09:32It's a new machine for Michael this year.
09:33After fielding the Honda in this race last year.
09:36He's made the switch to BMW.
09:37Little glance over his shoulder already to see who's behind him.
09:41One of the few places on this course you can grab a split second just to look back and see what the gap is.
09:46Davey Todd comes in.
09:475.8 seconds.
09:49The gap's gone up by two and a bit seconds.
09:51Two and a half seconds on the run to Ramsey.
09:54Davey Todd is making a break for it here on the 8.10 racing machine.
09:58He is absolutely up for it.
10:00Yep, Davey Todd, he did some fast laps during practice.
10:03We knew he was going to be quick, but he is straight away just taking charge of this four lap super bike race.
10:10Here's a look at Todd again.
10:11That wonderful stylish jump cam.
10:13Look at that.
10:14Front wheel up.
10:15Lands crossed up.
10:16Body shoulders up over the tank of the bike.
10:19Head down and out of there.
10:22Todd means business as he is 5.8 seconds up at the Ramsey hairpin.
10:28And fully tucked in and on his way up the mountain.
10:30Cameron, you took me up here for a lap.
10:32We went round for a full lap.
10:33Conditions were tricky.
10:34They're beautiful today.
10:36But this whole section of the course, you lose all the reference points that you have with what we call the roadside furniture in the built-up areas of this course.
10:44And it becomes much harder to read.
10:45It's a different planet compared to the course in the lower sections where there's houses, there's trees, there's letterboxes, street signs.
10:52There's an endless amount of reference points, but it's so much easier for the riders to get lost through these sweeping bends with nothing but grass and fields on the edges.
11:02Harrison through the long right-hander over the crest up at the top.
11:05Healed 17.7 up the road from Davo Johnson.
11:08John McGuinness waiting for Todd and Dunlop to come through the bungalow.
11:13Can Harrison do something special on the Honda here?
11:16Here comes Dunlop now up to bungalow.
11:19Ooh, just has two bikes to turn.
11:22Yeah, I think Michael's still...
11:23Ooh, and another bite at that.
11:24Just not the typical Michael we'd see.
11:26Maybe just coming to grips with that BMW.
11:30Well, despite the little issues there through bungalow, 2.8 seconds he's taken out of Harrison.
11:35He moves up with the P2, which is where it'd be when Todd comes through and trips the split times.
11:40No two bikes in the cherry for Todd committed on the throttle on the exit there.
11:44So you don't think Dunlop is quite as comfortable on his BMW as Todd is on his right now.
11:48It doesn't appear that way as yet, of course.
11:50Davey Todd is racing that BMW in British Championship.
11:53But Michael Dunlop has done an immense amount of testing and plenty of road racing leading up to this year's TT.
11:59You're on board with Nathan Harrison.
12:01The H&H motorcycles run machine here provided by Honda UK but run by them.
12:07Into bungalow.
12:08This is a fantastic performance for the Maxman.
12:11Nathan Harrison looking so, so smooth.
12:13This is great to see.
12:15You know, he was in the factory squad.
12:17It's not, it isn't a demotion.
12:19It's a sideways move, isn't it?
12:20But still with the right machinery in here, very much proving that he deserves that opportunity.
12:25Absolutely.
12:26He's really found his niche where he is and making the most of it.
12:29Dunlop swings through signpost.
12:34And we're on board with Dean Harrison as he comes out of Governor's dip.
12:38Full throttle now down Glencruttery Road.
12:40There are 9.5 seconds across the top three riders.
12:43This man currently sitting in P3, just eight tenths behind Dunlop.
12:47He goes on to lap two.
12:49Can he take that time back?
12:50And will it be Dunlop, Todd or Harrison?
12:52Welcome back to the RST D3O Superbike TT.
13:12Our first competitive action of 2025's edition of this fantastic event.
13:17You're on board with Dean Harrison on the Honda CBR 1000RR.
13:20And he is, as you can see, in P3, just 1.4 seconds back from Michael Dunlop,
13:26who stole that position off him towards the end of the lap.
13:31Oh, of course, Lee.
13:32Bit more road this time round.
13:34They're starting to feel a bit more confident with the conditions, Cam, as we get into lap two.
13:37They'll be settling in.
13:38They're on their second lap.
13:40They can build a little bit of rhythm.
13:41Had such few flying laps this qualifying week.
13:45Most of the times have been set from standing starts.
13:48They've all been saying as well as we see Dunlop, who's in P2 with the BMW.
13:52Oh, and there's the rear moves again, just like it did on lap one.
13:55Same place.
13:56He breaks away again.
13:57And look, he's having multiple bites at some of these corners.
14:00He's flying, but he doesn't look as comfortable as we're accustomed to.
14:04Davey Todd looking just super smooth.
14:077.8 seconds.
14:09This is a good lead.
14:10This is a manageable lead, isn't it?
14:13Certainly manageable if Davey Todd can keep up this pace.
14:16Onboard camera looking straight into his face.
14:20Oh, look at the reflection.
14:21The tear-offs on that tinted visor.
14:24And he can just see his eyes focusing up the road.
14:27Just touched.
14:28Great, isn't he?
14:29Down now at Glen Helen with Dean Harrison.
14:32Harrison's only 1.4 behind Dunlop.
14:34He can respond here.
14:35He's looking comfortable as well.
14:37These are the best conditions, I think, of this week, Cam.
14:39Yeah, the sun's high in the sky.
14:41It's dry.
14:42It's been so varied.
14:43It's been really hard for any consistency.
14:44You're on board with Todd now through the same section.
14:47Yes, we head through to Glen Helen.
14:48It's incredible, though, the lack of rubber on the road.
14:51With this heavy rain of an evening, the road's been cleaned.
14:54Exiting out of here as we head up towards Sarah's.
14:56It's one of the few spots where I'm seeing those telltale black lines on the road.
15:01The rest of it is so clean for the first race of the week.
15:04Yeah, completely different to last year.
15:06You think, looking at Buttigieg last year, those black lines were everywhere.
15:08Again, on board with Harrison here.
15:10Oh, oh, what a section.
15:12Down through McGuinness's top of the Garrow.
15:14Look at that commitment.
15:15Bike front wheel off the ground.
15:17Shaking its head down a gear and then flick into the Garrow top.
15:22And here is the bottom of the Garrow.
15:24And again, right out to that white line.
15:26Look at the compression.
15:27Oh, Connor Cummins.
15:28Cummins is into the pits.
15:30Looks like that's game over because it's a stop at the end of the second lap.
15:33What a shame.
15:34Oh, it truly is.
15:35Connor's been back up to pace in excess of 131 mile per hour lap in qualifying.
15:40It's looking good with that Burrows team BMW this year.
15:46Yeah, on board the Honda.
15:49Run by his own team, as we said.
15:50He was sitting up in P4, waiting for him to come through the next split.
15:56Andrew, I have to say, I'm most impressed every shot we're seeing of Nathan.
16:00He's just looking pinpoint accurate.
16:03Line choice.
16:04So smooth on the bike for a rider with not that many years' experience around the T4.
16:09It'll be such a confidence boost for him.
16:12There is Harrison at Blatt Bridge.
16:13And away, on board now with Todd, your leader.
16:18He's the man leading.
16:19He's the man setting the pace.
16:21Looking down here now, coming Alpine up over the hump.
16:25Back on the power and driving as hard as we can.
16:29Well, braking hard for Blatt Bridge.
16:31Look at him brake, brake, brake.
16:32Let that brake off and send it.
16:34He's so good on the brakes, isn't he?
16:36The lead has come down a tiny bit.
16:38It's 6.2.
16:39It was up above 7 seconds, so he can manage it.
16:42There are points around this course where they'll get a pit board, which will give them an idea.
16:45But it's not that often.
16:47No, it's not.
16:47They might be getting, at best, two, three boards to let them know where they are.
16:52So it's just them, their motorcycle, against this course.
16:56You've got to feel it.
16:57You've got to feel how quick you are and what pace you're on.
17:00This is Dunlop, is it?
17:02It's Davo Johnson.
17:03Is it Dunlop tucked behind?
17:04That's K-Tree on the left-hand side.
17:06That's right.
17:06That's where Davo had a big off last year.
17:09Wow.
17:10Michael Dunlop up the inside.
17:13Gets past Davo.
17:14Now Davo will want to jump on the back with Michael and try to keep time with him.
17:18Harrison up at Parliament Square.
17:21Heading up towards, threading these few corners that lead up to...
17:24Oh, look at that.
17:25On the back wheel.
17:26He's still trying very hard indeed.
17:28He's 4.1 back from Dunlop now.
17:30There's no doubt that Dino is trying out.
17:34As I thought, Davo will jump on the back of Michael for as long as he can.
17:39And just get a toe as they work their way out of Ramsey.
17:44Oh, fantastic.
17:46Lifting the front wheel off.
17:47Second, third gear driving up Mayhill.
17:51Dunlop trying equally as hard as Harrison.
17:53Slightly different line through the right-hander.
17:55Harrison's using a lot of road through there.
17:57They come up now.
17:58And this is one of the sections that just blew my mind, Cam.
18:00When we went for a lap the other day, coming up to Stella Maris,
18:02which is the right-hander just before the hairpin.
18:05You cannot...
18:05They've just been through it here.
18:06You cannot believe how tight it is.
18:08This is it here.
18:09The right-hander that Todd's coming into.
18:11I promise you, you drive into that in a car and it looks like you're driving into a wall.
18:14Yeah, well, these riders haven't got the mail on that, have they, Andrew?
18:17Because the corner speed they carry through that section is incredible.
18:21It's unbelievable.
18:22It really is.
18:23It is so fast.
18:24And then down to the slowest part of the course, and then up, of course, towards the mountain.
18:29Josh Brooks through the right-hander.
18:33Condom out of this year, Josh Brooks.
18:35Coming to terms with that Fireblade.
18:37Such a smooth style.
18:39Not pushing on quite as hard as we'd expect from Josh.
18:43But I'm sure he'll improve as the week goes on with his time.
18:47So we see Mike Brown on the KTS BMW last-minute change.
18:53He's taken the spot of Jamie Coward on that team.
18:56He's certainly making the most of that opportunity.
18:59There again, we see the different lines to that right-hander.
19:01Some people run it right the way out towards the kerb.
19:04He comes up through the right-hander, just before the Ramsey hairpin.
19:08And then as late on the brakes as you dare hear.
19:12Clicking down the gears.
19:13First gear, Cam.
19:14Back to first gear.
19:16It's a super tight, super slow corner.
19:18Quite an uphill exit.
19:20Driving out, up the hill towards Waterworks.
19:23Harrison already up at the bungalow.
19:25Listen to that Fireblade how.
19:30He's been on it this week.
19:31I've been lucky enough to be course side a few times during practice week.
19:33And he's been absolutely lit everywhere.
19:35Look, he's tucked in.
19:37He means...
19:38He's serious about it.
19:39He shows his leader at bungalow.
19:41I say when the other splits come through, you'll see him drop down to P3.
19:43But he's still very much in touch with this man, Michael Dunlop.
19:46Where he certainly was last time we checked.
19:49Dunlop comes through.
19:50What's he got on Harrison now?
19:538.1.
19:54So Dunlop's gapped Harrison.
19:56Dunlop has gapped Harrison.
19:57The question is, has he closed down on this man, Davy Todd?
20:00Davy Todd leading elbow almost down through there.
20:04Fully committed.
20:05Where does he go?
20:06He's 7.2 up the road.
20:08So he's managed to take a bit back.
20:09So the top three are spread out now over 15 seconds.
20:13Davy Todd has control of this race.
20:15Big James Hillier on the muck off entered Fireblade.
20:19He's also doing very well.
20:21Good to see Hillier here, isn't it?
20:22With everything that went wrong.
20:23But you can see him manage to scrape together the entries and get back on the island.
20:26Yep.
20:27And straight into that top five.
20:29As we see, Davy Todd catching his good mate, John McGuinness.
20:32Look at the arrow.
20:33Look at the arrow on the front of that BMW.
20:35Those huge wings.
20:36They're much bigger on the 2025 M1000RR.
20:40Davy Todd putting them to good effect.
20:42Yeah, just slides past John, doesn't he?
20:44Bit of slipstream and done.
20:45Josh Brooks through bungalow now.
20:49Yeah, as we see Josh heading up the hill here.
20:52Look at that frontal area of the Honda.
20:54It's such a compact.
20:55It's a smaller bike.
20:56But it doesn't give the rider the wind protection of the BMW.
20:59Pretty close between P4 and P10.
21:02Davo Johnson down to John McGuinness.
21:03Sorry, P7.
21:04But at the front, look, the breakaway.
21:06There's some 30-second gap between Davo and Dean Harrison.
21:09So the top three really have checked out where might Hickman have been if he'd been it.
21:13Pete, we hope you're feeling better.
21:14We know he's in the paddock and he'll be watching this keenly with his teammate and co-team owner, Davy Todd, leading at the minute.
21:23Aerial shot.
21:24Exing Craig Navar.
21:25Michael Dunlop tucked in down behind the screen of that BMW Superbike.
21:32Now pit stops coming up at the end of this lap.
21:34Remember, Superbikes need fuel and a tyre every two laps.
21:38That's how hard they're trying around this incredible course.
21:41He's running now down towards Hillbury.
21:43What a wonderful place to watch those people.
21:45They're right on the wall there.
21:46170-mile-an-hour braking zone, 140-mile-an-hour right-hander.
21:50Just a few corners to go now.
21:52You know you're coming towards the end of the lap because this is where it went wrong last year for Dunlop in the pits.
21:56Yeah, of course.
21:57Dunlop had such a good lead in this exact race last year.
22:01But after an issue in the pit stop, he lost a huge amount of time.
22:05So he'll want to make amends for that this year.
22:06You are looking at Dean Harrison coming through Governor's Dip.
22:16You join us, of course, for the RST D30 Superbike TT.
22:19We're on lap two.
22:20Coming in now for the pit stop.
22:23Oh, Harrison high on the RPM, hard on the brakes.
22:26Lee Johnston in the pits.
22:27Dean is definitely going for a helmet stop, which I knew.
22:31He does that all the time with his shoey helmet as the bike just rolls into Pitlion now.
22:35So you'd expect to see the rear stand on first, fuel cap open first because that's the most important bit to get the fuel in.
22:41He's just told the mechanic that he doesn't need a helmet change.
22:45So he's just going for one tear-off.
22:46He's still got one if not two tear-offs already on the screen.
22:50Just giving the screen of the motorbike a little change, rear wheel is already changed on that Fireblade.
22:55Dean's getting a quick drink and the longest part of this stop now is, like you said, is the fuel.
23:00But we are going to run further up the pit lane now and try and see as Davey Todd and Mike and the lop are going to be the next arriving pit lane.
23:08We're going to walk up the back of the pits very, very carefully.
23:11Dean's going for another drink there.
23:13As we see John McGuinness behind him has just pulled straight into the second of the two Honda pit garages.
23:18Oh, bike's fell over a little bit.
23:20Just setting off with the pits now.
23:21So we're going to walk quickly up the back of the pits.
23:23John McGuinness has come in.
23:24He's actually opted for a visor change.
23:27So he's already gone through them two tear-offs and looking very, very comfortable.
23:32Dave Johnson's also gone for a visor change.
23:35I see Mike and the lops in and he's already out.
23:37Really good pit stop in them.
23:39Slight crossover in the pits with Mike and the lop and James Hillier.
23:43Davey Todd is sitting in the pits now just behind us.
23:45I don't know what he's done with that KYT helmet.
23:48It's been new for this year, but it looks like he hasn't gone for a visor or a tear-off.
23:54So the bike's just struggling to get into gear there.
23:57As we see Josh Brooks coming into pit lane as well.
24:00It's very, very busy down here.
24:02But you can see the top teams are really calm and methodical, trying to get the information over to the rider.
24:06They're all shaking each other's hands, saying, well done, guys.
24:09So very, very interesting.
24:10Back to you guys.
24:12Well, looking at the splits we've got here in commentary.
24:14Todd's pit stop was some five or six seconds slower than both Harrison and Dunlop in front of him.
24:20So we're on board with him now.
24:21150, 161 behind McGuinness now.
24:24Wow, looking at him getting the draft as we head down into Crosby.
24:28Up the inside, 189 miles per hour.
24:33Unbelievable.
24:34Absolutely stunning to see the speed there.
24:37He saw it.
24:37Oh, a little head shake from Harrison into Gorsley.
24:41And he is absolutely on it.
24:43He's 11.2 back from Dunlop.
24:457.1 was the gap between Dunlop and Todd.
24:48Dunlop less sideways through the right hand of this time round.
24:51But what is that gap going to be when we get our next split?
24:54Yeah, that'll be really interesting to find out if Davey has lost that lead in the pit stop.
24:59That will be crushing as we ride on board.
25:02Davo Johnson.
25:05Davo over the crest and through.
25:07Here comes Todd.
25:09Todd is riding with a sense of urgency, which says that he knows he's lost some time.
25:147.1 was a manageable gap.
25:16You're with Harrison now.
25:18But if he's lost five or six seconds, Cam, we could be looking at a couple of seconds between him and Dunlop.
25:23And if Dunlop finds out about that and gets the bit between his teeth, this is game on for the next two laps.
25:28Yeah, absolutely.
25:29And as a rider, you know if that pit stop's taken longer than it should be.
25:32And he will be super fired up if that's the case.
25:34Glenn Helen split for Harrison.
25:36Now Dunlop comes through.
25:3712 between them.
25:38And that's within 0.8 of a second of what it was before.
25:41Dunlop slightly further ahead of Harrison.
25:44But Todd is the crucial one here.
25:45The gap was 7.1.
25:47You're on board with Davo Johnson.
25:50Waiting on Todd, who's a little way further down on the road.
25:53He swoops through the left and the right.
25:54Here is Todd.
25:55He's up behind Johnson.
25:56Got to get through quickly on the exit.
25:59Oh, he's lost loads of time.
26:00Todd slides up the inside.
26:02Similar move that was made earlier on in the race, but he has lost loads of time.
26:05The lead is down to 1.5 seconds from 7.1.
26:08And that was all in the pit stop.
26:12Oh, that's a bitter pill to swallow for Davy Todd.
26:14Losing such a substantial lead through no fold of his own.
26:18There's going to be some pressure now.
26:20He's going to know the lead's gone.
26:22Dunlop's going to know that he could sneak the win.
26:24Just the pressure is going to be on for the next two.
26:29This is a replay then of Todd behind Davo.
26:32Yeah, he's made his way up behind Davo as we head up here towards Serres.
26:36Just gets the drive, runs it out wide.
26:38Oh, and he has to just show the front wheel.
26:40Both hugely experienced competitors.
26:43Dave will just give him a bit of room.
26:45Yeah, job done.
26:47Bottom of Fogaro.
26:51Oh, my goodness me.
26:53It's just every single time that camera angle is wild.
26:56It's one of the few times you really can see the elevation change and the commitment.
27:00Harrison through Gorsley.
27:02The other Hondas have had some stability issues this week.
27:05But it doesn't appear to be the case when we see shots of Nathan Harrison.
27:08That bike looks like it's working so well.
27:10Nearly a two on the mark-off machine and now back to Dean Harrison out front.
27:15So Harrison a little way out of touch now.
27:16He's in no man's land.
27:17He's got such a big gap back to P4.
27:20Riding beautifully.
27:21We know that from practice week.
27:23But just, I think, at 12 seconds back from Dunlop, maybe not going to be able to bridge that gap.
27:27I think it's a case at the moment of just managing the race.
27:30As we see that man doing the chasing, Michael Dunlop.
27:34Oh, big jump at Balaf.
27:36Briggs back onto the front wheel.
27:37Where is Davey Todd, who's chasing him down?
27:40We know the gap was down to 1.5.
27:42What will it be?
27:43Oh, Todd is late, late, late on the brakes.
27:46Rear wheel up.
27:47Somehow manages to not run deep.
27:50We know he's good on the brakes.
27:51You can't brake later than that into Balaf.
27:54Davey Todd knows where he's in this race.
27:55He knows he's lost that lead.
27:57He has got the bit between his teeth.
27:59He is visually pushing that M1000RR to the limit.
28:04Wow.
28:05I mean, if he carries on like that, it's going to go one of two ways, isn't it?
28:08He's either going to take some time out of it or we'll sit.
28:11That's surely the limit, Cam.
28:12Tell me that's the limit.
28:13It certainly is under Brakstable Aftbridge.
28:15That is for sure.
28:17Okay.
28:18On then, between Todd and Dunlop at the front.
28:20Nathan Harrison through now.
28:22Harrison was sitting up in.
28:25Where was he?
28:26He's not through the split at Balaf Bridge.
28:28Harrison makes it all the way down to Parliament Square.
28:32Dino doesn't look like he's backed off, but he has consolidated to a point.
28:36He'll be managing that gap.
28:37Unlike this man that is on the chase.
28:40Plus three.
28:41So Todd has taken time with those big risks he's taken at Balaf.
28:44Todd has managed to take some time out of Dunlop.
28:46So he really is committed and he's managed to get the gap up from 1.5.
28:51Remember, in going into the pits, it was 7.1.
28:53Down to 1.5.
28:54Back up again.
28:55Here comes Dunlop now on the run to the Ramsey hairpin.
28:59Through the right-hander.
29:01And Davey Todd riding here with even more urgency.
29:05Todd is pushing so hard.
29:08This is a replay into Parliament.
29:10Oh, he's late on the brakes again.
29:12This time he's sat up.
29:13Look, he's wide at the apex.
29:15Cam, he's well wide.
29:16Oh, he's run clearly off the track.
29:18Look, out in that dirty ground.
29:20So he can't get back on the power.
29:21He has to be patient to pull it back on line.
29:24Back on the gas.
29:25He will be kicking himself.
29:27So Todd, unbelievable.
29:29The pit stop, he lost the gap.
29:30Then he got the gap back.
29:31It was 1.5.
29:32He took it up to three.
29:33Now with that mistake, it's back down to 1.9.
29:36This is going each way.
29:37It is within two seconds of two titans around this circuit with a lap and a half to go.
29:43And here is Todd tucked in.
29:45He'd be furious, surely, now.
29:47He would, Andrew.
29:48We know he's got the speed.
29:49He just needs to calm his farm that little bit.
29:52Cannot afford any unforced errors in this battle with Michael Dunlop.
29:56It's such a fine line.
29:57When you look at how late he was on the brakes at the lap and you look at him making up 1.5 in that sector cam,
30:02how as a rider do you go between making up those huge chunks and then going,
30:06oh, I've run too deep at Parliament Square?
30:08What's the line?
30:08How do you feel it?
30:10If you make a mistake, Andrew, you just need to focus on the next corner.
30:13Forget the mistake.
30:14Focus on the future.
30:16And just get back into that rhythm.
30:18Trying to make up for lost time, more likely to make another error.
30:21This is Josh Brooks up at Bungalow.
30:25As you can see, the leaders are heading towards the end of the lap.
30:29Here is Michael Dunlop up at Kronknamona.
30:32And he's coming up towards signpost, which is a great place for a pit board.
30:36And then we might be game on for this last lap.
30:38Let's head down to Lee Johnston.
30:40Yeah, we've just come down to the opposite end of Pitlion,
30:42so the exit of Pitlion.
30:43Just to try and give you guys a visual on,
30:45we call this the start and finish straight,
30:47but it's by no means straight.
30:49As these guys come through the end of Pitlion and they start to push off,
30:53as we can see the road drop off before the traffic lights.
30:57And Ray Hill, as the guy behind me,
30:59just had the fright of his life there as Michael Dunlop come past.
31:02Yeah, as the road drops off just before the traffic lights,
31:05then they jump over the traffic lights,
31:07and then the wrestling match begins to go right down Bray Hill.
31:10So I think Michael's going to get a little bit of an advantage here
31:13with having catching Dean Horace.
31:15He's going to have that little marker going along the road.
31:18The guys in the comms box will give us a bit more on that,
31:20but it definitely helps along the TT course.
31:22Just having that aim, that marker to aim at
31:25in some of the faster sections will be interesting to see
31:27if he benefits off having Dean Horace in front of him
31:30and if he can close the gap to give it to Todd.
31:32There is one lap to go.
31:34Will it be Todd or Dunlop?
31:35There's 1.9 seconds between them.
31:45Welcome back to the RST D3O Superbike TT.
31:50You are listening to and riding on board with Dean Harrison,
31:53who is still first on the road,
31:55but currently sitting third in the standings,
31:57and that's Michael Dunlop behind him.
32:00So Dunlop has closed up to Harrison.
32:02Remember, leaving at the start of this race
32:04with 10-second intervals in between each rider,
32:06and Harrison is still trying hard from that body language.
32:10Yeah, you can still see the way he's muscling that Honda.
32:12Now we're on board.
32:13Davo Johnson on the Platinum Racing Kawasaki is going so well,
32:19currently in fifth position.
32:22Yeah, great ride by him.
32:24John McGinnis behind him.
32:25McGinnis, we said earlier, didn't really enjoy practice week.
32:28He's going well here.
32:29He's sitting in P8, and he's not far behind Josh Brooks,
32:32so could get a P7 hit,
32:34and the legend's looking a bit more comfortable.
32:36Well, he'll certainly be happy now.
32:38He's racing and moving up through the field constantly.
32:41Having a really strong ride is John.
32:44Davy Todd now.
32:45Davy Todd locked in this fight
32:47as he comes through Glen Helen
32:48with Michael Dunlop.
32:501.9 seconds was the split between them last time we looked.
32:54Out over the crest of the road,
32:55and Todd too is pushing.
32:57He does look comfortable on the BMW.
32:59He certainly does, Andrew.
33:00That BMW looks like it's sitting on the road so well.
33:03Look at the gap.
33:04Cam, sorry to interrupt.
33:05It's 0.2, 2 tenths,
33:07less than 3 tenths of a second
33:08between Todd and Dunlop.
33:10Dunlop is right there.
33:11Davy Todd must respond on this final lap.
33:14Oh, no.
33:16That's Ian Hutchinson
33:17into the pits.
33:18The bike is going up on its stand,
33:20and he pulls the seat off,
33:21so that's why seat broken for Hutchie.
33:23That's a shame.
33:25Well, we'll look to see him continue his brilliant recovery
33:27after that podium at the Northwest 200 later this week.
33:30But Dean Harrison now with Dunlop in behind.
33:32Michael Dunlop has caught Dean Harrison
33:34right in the middle of Kirk Michael Village.
33:36He's on a charge.
33:37How much time is this going to cost him?
33:39Oh, Dunlop's going up the outside here.
33:41Surely there's no room.
33:42Harrison stands the bike up,
33:44just sees him in time.
33:46Dunlop definitely had to roll off in Kirk Michael.
33:48Without a shadow of a doubt,
33:49he's done well to get through there,
33:50but not the ideal place to pass.
33:53Oh.
33:53Uh-oh.
33:54Paul Williams, feet off the pegs,
33:56taking the impact on the petrol tank.
34:03Michael Dunlop.
34:04Was that a nod on the head on the brakes at Belaf?
34:07Is there a bit of emotion shown there?
34:09He will know he's lost a little bit of time.
34:11We don't know what that is yet,
34:12what the cost is.
34:13Nathan Harrison riding brilliantly.
34:15Fourth place.
34:16He's pretty safe looking at the gap behind as well.
34:18This is an amazing ride by him.
34:20This is nothing short of amazing.
34:21In just his ninth TT start,
34:23he is in fourth place,
34:25surrounded by some incredibly experienced
34:28and fast competition.
34:30Brilliant stuff from Harrison.
34:32Yellow flags.
34:33Nathan gestures that he's seen those.
34:35Let's the marshals know.
34:37Davey Todd.
34:38This is where he had a huge moment
34:39on the brakes earlier in the race.
34:41He's beautifully on the rear wheel and away.
34:43And you're getting the view of a man
34:44who might be about to win his third TT here.
34:48Here it is over the jump.
34:50Fully committed.
34:51He needs every tenth of a second here, Cam.
34:54That incredible style again over the jump
34:56as he reaches up,
34:57grabs the tear off.
34:59What an incredible shot.
35:01That is brilliant, isn't it?
35:03Just seeing that in slow motion
35:04to see what's going on.
35:05Wow.
35:06Josh Brooks at Parliament Square.
35:09He's in his own battle with John McGinnon
35:11both Honda mounted.
35:12Can John get the better of Josh Brooks?
35:17Brooks up towards the right-hander.
35:19McGinnis has been through the Ramsey hairpin already.
35:23I tell you what,
35:24the battle for these minor placings is still hot.
35:28John McGinnis now has the advantage over Josh Brooks.
35:32Harrison up on the mountain,
35:34flies all over the screen.
35:36So those little holes drilled in the screen there, Andrew.
35:39This helps equalise the pressure
35:41and limits the buffeting to the rider's helmet
35:43when they're tucked in.
35:45There we go.
35:45Those tiny details matter
35:47and the tiny gaps matter.
35:48Dunlop, 1.9.
35:50The gap has gone back up.
35:51So he's lost a little bit of time.
35:53Is it a Kirk Michael?
35:54I suspect as well Todd has responded
35:56and he's righting on the limit.
35:58Yeah, Davey's got it together.
35:59No more unforced errors now.
36:01He's made amends
36:02for those couple of slip-ups early.
36:04No elbow down either.
36:05He is,
36:06there's no time for showboating.
36:07He has a TT to win.
36:09Todd here on a mission
36:10to pick up his third one.
36:12It's been a brilliant performance.
36:13He has been the fastest man out on course
36:15were it not for losing
36:16those five, six seconds
36:17in their pit stop cam
36:18and then running on deep
36:19at Parliament Square.
36:21In theory,
36:22this could have been easy.
36:23It's never easy here,
36:24but relatively speaking.
36:25No, they certainly made the job harder
36:27than it needed to be.
36:29But all that matters
36:30is maintaining this small gap
36:32that he's built now
36:33on the run down the mountain.
36:35Oh, here comes Dunlop
36:36and the exit.
36:36Did you hear Michael's bike then?
36:38Sounded like he missed a gear
36:39on the exit,
36:40but he's coming out
36:40over the start finish line now.
36:42Dunlop then.
36:42And the gap was 2.5 last we checked.
36:46Here comes Davey Todd.
36:47He won the senior
36:48at the end of the 2024 TT.
36:50That was his second TT win.
36:52Tucks down behind the fairing
36:54now over the start finish line.
36:55And he's done it.
36:56Todd takes his third TT.
36:58He wins the first race of 2025.
37:01Bookends last season
37:02and this season.
37:03It is Todd at the top of the table
37:05from Michael Dunlop
37:06by a tiny margin.
37:09Dean Harrison in P3.
37:10Nathan Harrison with a fantastic P4.
37:12Then Johnson, Hillier
37:13and McGuinness
37:14down to P7.
37:23Congratulations, Dean.
37:24A podium on the opening race.
37:26How was it for you out there?
37:27It was hard work.
37:28I got to a reasonable start
37:29and just a struggle
37:30with a few stability problems,
37:32to be honest.
37:33They were sort of struggling.
37:34A similar thing.
37:34We went to sort of a wall
37:35through practice week
37:36and sort of sat there.
37:37But I felt I sort of sat my pace
37:39the whole race
37:40and just thought that
37:41were all the sort of I had today.
37:42So a good start to the week,
37:43I suppose.
37:44So I'm looking forward
37:44to the 600 races this afternoon.
37:46We know that Honda
37:47were trying different things
37:48during qualifying week.
37:49I guess will this race
37:50be used as data as well
37:52going into the next one?
37:53Yeah, exactly.
37:54I know we'll have learned
37:55quite a lot then.
37:56So we'll make some improvements
37:57for later on in the week.
37:58So we'll get, I think,
37:59perhaps a lap or two.
38:00So we'll go from there.
38:02Congratulations, Dean.
38:03Thank you very much.
38:12We've got Michael Dunlop here.
38:14It was a challenging week
38:15during qualifying,
38:16but are you happy
38:17with this result?
38:18Not really.
38:19It was hard.
38:20I was really down
38:21in the first lap
38:21and then I started
38:23trailing it back a wee bit
38:24and then on the last lap
38:25I felt good
38:26and just caught Dean
38:27at the wrong place
38:27and just started
38:28dropping seconds
38:29and then we blew a hole
38:30in the tyre.
38:31The tyre's destroyed
38:32so we just lost all grip
38:33which is highly disappointing
38:34because I knew
38:35in the last lap
38:35we'd have a bit of
38:36a second breath
38:37and have another go at it
38:38but it's just the way it is.
38:40I'm not sure
38:41what we can do
38:42to cure the issue
38:43that we've now got
38:46but look,
38:47it was a tough pace
38:47I knew it was going to be
38:48but the boys
38:49done a great job.
38:49We went from going
38:51really, really awful
38:53lap times in practice
38:54that we struggled with
38:55and now to be doing,
38:57you know,
38:57dropping 40 seconds a lap
38:59quicker
38:59so we've made a new step
39:01and we now need to get
39:02to change that balance
39:04in for Saturday
39:05but lack of track time
39:06probably hasn't helped
39:07and it's probably
39:08handy for the other boys
39:09because they're here
39:10on bikes
39:11it's technically the same
39:12from last year
39:12so we've been struggling
39:13a wee bit this week
39:14but thanks to the boys
39:15we've got a bit of a push
39:17on there
39:17and we got a wee bit closer.
39:20And the lap was closing
39:22and fluctuating
39:23between you and Davey
39:24the whole race
39:24were there places
39:25that you felt like
39:26you could push
39:26more than others?
39:27Oh, I just got caught
39:28a wee bit we didn't
39:29just took too long
39:30to get past
39:31I passed him somewhere
39:32and when I did pass him
39:33I didn't really
39:35sit where I did pass him
39:37and I sort of
39:39wasn't the right place
39:41and then it lost
39:41all momentum
39:42but that's just the way it goes.
39:43Davey Todd
39:56fast from the off
39:57did you feel comfortable
39:58to push straight away?
40:00Yeah, I was
40:01I was just saying
40:02it's the most nervous
40:03I've ever been
40:03on a start line
40:04just the week we've had
40:06weather-wise
40:06every single time
40:07we go on track
40:08the track's different
40:08instead of
40:10we've just not had
40:11any consistency
40:12so the start of the race
40:15without a warm-up lap
40:16without a practice lap
40:17and go straight in there
40:18with the
40:19you had to push
40:20from the beginning
40:21with these boys
40:22you can't give them an inch
40:23so
40:24had to go from the start
40:25pretty blind with the track
40:27not knowing really
40:28what the conditions were like
40:29and
40:29just tried to get my head down
40:32we had a bit of a
40:33bit of a mare
40:33in the pit stop
40:34it just
40:35lost a chunk of time
40:36lost my
40:37comfortable gap
40:38that I was just sort of
40:39starting to manage
40:40at 7.9
40:41and then
40:41then I had to put my head down
40:44for the last couple of laps
40:45which I didn't really want to do
40:46but I had to do it
40:48and
40:48for some reason
40:49my bike cut out
40:50just going over the line
40:51so
40:51I'm glad it cut out there
40:53and not any sooner
40:54I literally
40:55coasted over the line
40:56with the bike
40:57switched off
40:58so
40:58yeah
41:00the boys have done
41:01a fantastic job
41:02the boys and girls
41:04have done a fantastic job
41:04this 8.10 racing team
41:06by Monster Energy
41:06the BMW
41:08M1000Ri
41:10is fantastic
41:11I love the bike
41:12I've basically got a stocker there
41:14with a faster engine in it
41:15and I honestly love it
41:17they've done a fantastic job
41:18to create this team
41:19and in the last three months
41:20I know we keep talking about it
41:22but
41:22man it's not an easy task
41:24for everybody in the team
41:26to create this
41:27and
41:28yeah just massive thanks to them
41:30for making it happen
41:30and all the sponsors
41:32for getting behind
41:33me and Pete
41:34wow John
41:38you had a difficult start
41:39to the week
41:40but you find your form there mate
41:41yeah
41:42I just needed that
41:44it's weird
41:45I've been racing here
41:45since 96
41:46and I was just
41:48not feeling it at all
41:49you know
41:50struggling a little bit
41:50all the way through
41:51and some damp patches
41:52I'm a little bit scared
41:53I'll hold my hand up
41:54I was waiting number one
41:55proud to go
41:56waiting number one
41:56on the Honda
41:57and a bit of a sitting duck
41:58everybody caught me up
41:59but honestly I did my best
42:01I hit all the spots
42:02a little bit of an easy start
42:03good pit stop
42:03and then
42:04you know it's never over
42:05so it's over
42:05you just got to keep fighting
42:06keep fighting
42:07you know
42:07keep pushing
42:07I enjoyed the race
42:09and that's what racing's about for me
42:11wow a super bike race
42:26that was absolutely worth waiting for
42:28a superb performance
42:29Steve
42:30Pat
42:30from David Todd
42:32under pressure
42:32from the greatest to ever do it
42:34yeah fair play
42:36you know
42:36he dug deep
42:37it was a little bit of an unknown
42:39to a certain degree
42:39but he really brought it home
42:41and put on a good show
42:43for the 8-10 team
42:43it was a special ride
42:45Pat
42:46as I was saying
42:46under pressure
42:47all the way
42:47pushed by Michael
42:48but despite a couple of little mistakes
42:50here and there
42:51he managed to hold his nerve
42:53especially on the final lap
42:54he did
42:54it maybe could have been
42:55possibly a little bit more comfortable
42:57than what it actually ended up being
42:58with that loss of the 6 seconds
42:59in the pit stop
43:00and then running on
43:01into Parliament Square
43:02just
43:03maybe letting the pressure
43:04get to him a little bit
43:05but then just managed to
43:06claw it back a bit
43:07and then pull out
43:08and then win by 1.2 seconds
43:10which
43:10over a 150 mile race
43:12is not a lot at all
43:13another stunning example
43:15of what these super stock bikes
43:16are capable of
43:17Steve
43:17because essentially
43:18that's what Davey was on
43:19is it fair to expect
43:20a bit more improvement
43:21from Michael's super bike
43:23before we go to the senior
43:24compared to Davey Stocker
43:25a blistering last lap
43:27fastest lap of the race
43:28for Michael
43:28you know
43:29and I think he's going to be
43:30building all week
43:31and doing some more testing
43:32as he goes on
43:33and without doubt
43:34he's going to be
43:35pushing really hard
43:36for that senior win
43:37yeah that's a mouthwatering
43:39prospect isn't it
43:39for next Sunday
43:40of course the big one
43:41the senior TT
43:42but lots of racing
43:43to come
43:43between now and then
43:45tomorrow night
43:45we'll show you
43:46if Michael could go
43:47one better
43:47and keep up
43:48his incredible record
43:50in the super sport TT
43:51bye for now
44:07because I'm alive
44:17I'm being a spider
44:18I keep going for gold
44:20I never give up
44:21until I know
44:22what I told you
44:23I really got nothing to
44:24really got nothing to
44:26really got nothing to prove
44:37I never give up
