01:00It's Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, willy-nilly, silly or fair.
01:06This is Winnie the Pooh.
01:09Oh, hello.
01:10Um, who are you?
01:13Why, I'm the narrator.
01:14I tell the story.
01:15Oh, good.
01:16I love stories.
01:18Then let's begin.
01:19This is Winnie the Pooh.
01:21You already said that.
01:22And he lives in the 100-acre wood with all his friends.
01:26This tiny piglet, Kanga and Little Roo.
01:30Rabbit, who's always worrying.
01:32Owl, who has something to say about everything.
01:37Eeyore, who's always losing his tail.
01:40Tigger, the bounciest one of all.
01:43And, of course, Christopher Robin, who helps his friends.
01:48Together, they've had many adventures.
01:51They've even spent time doing just nothing.
01:54Each day brings a new adventure.
01:57Just yesterday, as Pooh was doing what he likes best, which is...
02:01Eating, oof, honey.
02:03Yes, honey.
02:05As I was saying, Pooh found a wonderful new bee tree.
02:08Oh, yes.
02:10I must tell Christopher Robin to meet me at the new bee tree.
02:13I left my honeypot there, and he shall help me get it back.
02:17Where is this new bee tree?
02:18Right where it always was, I suppose.
02:21How will Christopher Robin find it?
02:23You need a way to tell him.
02:25How shall I do that?
02:26Today, we're going to learn about ways to find things using maps and landmarks.
02:32I should like that very much.
02:34Then I can find more bee trees.
02:36Exactly.
02:37And we'll learn where words to help tell where things are.
02:41Like more bee trees?
02:43Like more bee trees.
02:44We'll even learn what to do if we're ever lost.
02:47Can we begin now?
02:48We certainly can.
02:50Lesson 1.
02:52Maps, Signs, and Landmarks.
02:54It's a funny thing how everything looks the same in the mist.
03:07He's right, Piglet.
03:08It's the very same sand pit.
03:11I think so too, Pooh.
03:12Well, it's lucky I know the forest so well.
03:15Or we might get lost.
03:18Well, come on.
03:18Follow me.
03:19How do we know where things are?
03:24Maps can tell us.
03:25They show us which places are near and far.
03:29A globe like this one is a map of the whole world.
03:33Sometimes signs tell us where things are.
03:36My house has a sign that says Sanders, so I know it's mine.
03:40Piglet's house has a sign that says Trespasser's Will.
03:43That was Piglet's grandfather.
03:46Yes.
03:47And another way we know where things are is by landmarks.
03:51What's a landmark?
03:52Landmarks are big things that stay in the same place and help us find things.
03:57Like the stream?
03:58Yes.
03:59The stream is a landmark.
04:01The water moves, but the stream stays in the same place.
04:05Rabbit's house is a landmark.
04:07He lives in the root of a tree, and it never moves.
04:10Precisely.
04:11If you can find Rabbit's house, which is a landmark, you can find things nearby, like
04:16the door where you got stuck.
04:18So Christopher Robin's house is a landmark.
04:21Because if you can find Christopher's house, you can find the swing.
04:25The sandy pit is a landmark.
04:28Yes.
04:28If you can find the sandy pit, you can find it over and over and over again, whether you
04:34want to or not.
04:36Most houses are landmarks.
04:38But not if they move.
04:40Let's pause here and talk more about maps, signs, and landmarks.
04:54Lesson 2, where words.
05:00There, now.
05:01Isn't this a clever disguise?
05:07What are you supposed to be?
05:10I'm a little black rain cloud, of course.
05:14Silly old bear.
05:17Now, would you aim me at the bees, please?
05:22Careful, Pooh.
05:23Hold on tight.
05:25Yes.
05:26Four.
05:27Yes.
05:27Three.
05:28Yes.
05:28Two.
05:29Yes.
05:30One.
05:32I'm just a little black rain cloud hovering under the honey tree.
05:39And now, would you like some where words so you can tell Christopher Robin where your new
05:44bee tree is?
05:45Oh, yes, please.
05:47But what is a where word?
05:50Where words are words that help us find things.
05:53I suppose I shall be needing some of those.
05:56Very well.
05:57Now, is the bee tree near like owl was near you?
06:02Or far like rabbit running far away?
06:05Near and far are where words.
06:07It's not as far as rabbit or as near as owl.
06:12It's sort of in between.
06:14The same way I was in between Kanga and rabbit.
06:17Then how do you get to the bee tree?
06:19Oh, when you get to the bridge, you go to...
06:22I think I need more where words.
06:25Do you go under the bridge like Christopher Robin went under the umbrella?
06:28No.
06:29You go over the bridge like Christopher Robin went over the fence.
06:33And then you come to the gorse bush.
06:35What do you do when you come to the gorse bush?
06:38I don't want to go in the gorse bush again.
06:40It was too stickly.
06:42So you go around it like Tigger went around rabbit?
06:45Oh, yes.
06:46Less prickles that way.
06:48And after the gorse bush, you can see my thoughtful spot where I sit.
06:51How do you sit?
06:54Thoughtfully.
06:55But where do you sit?
06:57Oh, I sit on my thoughtful spot.
07:00On?
07:01Yes, like Tigger was on me.
07:03And Tigger was on rabbit.
07:05And Tigger was on piglet.
07:07And Tigger was on rabbit again.
07:10Precisely.
07:11On is a very useful where word.
07:14I suppose it is.
07:15And if I sit on my thoughtful spot, I can see the bee tree where my honey pod is.
07:20Do you look up for your honey pod like when you climb up very high?
07:24Or down like when you fall?
07:26Up.
07:27Although the down pod was fun until I landed.
07:32And now is your honey pod in the tree like Roo was in Kanga's pouch?
07:37Or out like Roo was out of Kanga's pouch here?
07:41It's in the tree like I was in the mud.
07:43And I need to get my honey pod out of the tree like I got out of the mud.
07:48Now we're making progress.
07:50The bee tree is over the bridge between near and far.
07:54And your honey pod is in the tree?
07:57Yes.
07:58Like piglet's note was in the bottle.
08:01Only the note was easier to see.
08:03That's splendid, Pooh.
08:05And now you can tell Christopher Robin how to get to the bee tree using your werewolves.
08:11Well, the bee tree is not near and not nearly far.
08:15But if you go over the bridge and around the gorse bush to the thoughtful spot and sit on the thoughtful spot, you can see it.
08:24Then you look up to the top of the tree and there's a hole and my honey pod is inside.
08:31I like werewolves.
08:32Are there any more?
08:33Well, let's pause here and find out.
08:44Lesson 3. What to do if you're lost.
08:54That's funny.
08:56They must be lost.
08:58Hello!
08:59If landmarks like houses get lost, I could get lost too.
09:05What would I do?
09:07Oh, there are many things you can do if you're lost.
09:09You can call for help like Tigger did when he and Roo were stuck.
09:13Hello!
09:14Someone may hear you.
09:16In fact, sounds help us find our way too.
09:20What can you find when you hear bees?
09:22Honey!
09:23And what can you find if you hear water?
09:26The stream.
09:27Precisely.
09:28Landmarks help us find our way.
09:30If we see a landmark we know, we can go toward it and look for the next landmark.
09:35Otherwise, we might walk in circles.
09:39That's right.
09:40Sometimes it's best to sit and wait so someone can find you.
09:44It's good to have a friend with you when you can't find your way.
09:47I was so glad to have Piglet with me.
09:49And the most important thing is to stay calm.
09:54When Rabbit was wandering in the mist, lost and bewildered, his mind started to play tricks on him.
10:01If I am lost, I shall stay calm so I can find my way.
10:06Good!
10:07Let's review.
10:16First, how can we tell where things are?
10:19Maps, globes, signs, and all sorts of landmarks.
10:24Splendid!
10:25And now you know where words as well.
10:29Let's see now.
10:31Near, far, under, over, in.
10:37Out, around, up, and down.
10:42And you know what to do if you get lost.
10:45You should call for help, stay with a buddy, listen for sounds that tell you where you are,
10:52look for landmarks, stay calm.
10:56Now I shall make believe that I am lost, and then I shall try to be found.
11:00I'll take Piglet along for a buddy.
11:02Good idea.
11:03And don't worry, I'll stay calm.
11:07Calm, not to sleep.
11:10Oh, sorry.
11:12Pooh is found after all, and here he is, back with all his friends for a being found party.
11:19Because when we're all together, we can have new adventures every day.
11:23Hooray, Poetie the Blue!
11:28And Piglet, too.
