00:00Hi, I am Jill Berger from Rains. This is our vehicle. We are on tour right now. Tonight,
00:15we're actually playing at Hainani in Arlington Heights. Tomorrow, Hobart, Indiana. We're playing
00:20at the music box. You name it. The art theater in wherever. Anyways. So, yeah. How about
00:30these bugs, huh? So, I drove this from North Dakota. And yeah, we came down through Minnesota,
00:41Wisconsin, and stuff like that. And I feel bad for all the little guys, but get out of
00:46the way. All right. So, let's show you the Yukon. This is called the Rainsmobile. Um, you
00:53know, we spent... Hey, Mark. What up? That's the lead singer of Rains. Um, yeah, we spent
00:59a lot of time in close quarters in this thing, but man, we got a 5.8 liter V8 up in here.
01:04Flex fuel. So, we put ethanol in when we can. Um, oh, Mark, this, I was supposed to give this
01:10to you and Danny nine months ago. So, that's your wedding present. Thank you. From my mom.
01:16There better be money in it. So, typically, we do shifts for driving. So, if we got to
01:21do a six-hour drive, we'll, like, split it into two hours. Or sometimes, you know, Mark
01:26might be eager and drive the whole way, or myself. We don't really have rules. The only
01:31rule is the person that's driving makes the decision for what's going to be played on the
01:35radio. And sometimes, none of us are listening to anything. We're just listening to stuff in
01:41our AirPods. Not talking the whole time. So, in the car, and this is not always a popular
01:48choice, but I'm a big musical theater guy. So, we got Wicked playing. Okay, you know
01:53what? For me, that's always a popular choice. I'm always on board. You're right. It's just
01:56Joe. This is me. Matt and I will be blasting it, singing Joe's just headphones. Not fitting
02:02it at all. Or sometimes, if we're feeling a little bit self-indulgent, we'll listen to our
02:07own stuff and just... Yeah, you know what? Yeah. What I listen to, this is terrible.
02:12What I listen to is basically work tapes and demos of our own stuff. Yeah. That's all it
02:19is. Literally. I'm just working. We have a trusty Bluetooth thing, because this is a 2014. We
02:26don't got a lot of technology in here. So, we have a Bluetooth FM transmitter that we use.
02:31So, you'll be driving through cities, and out of nowhere, it'll just go...
02:33This is picking up another radio station. But, you know, it works out. Honestly, it changes every
02:43day. I kind of catch a different vibe every day. Sometimes it's podcasts. Sometimes I'm
02:47listening to a podcast about, you know, what do they call that? Quantum mechanics. I don't know
02:53anything about it, but that's the type of stuff I do. Yeah. Clearly, we don't really care about
03:01the cleanliness of the vehicle right here. I got a bunch of files and bills. So, you know,
03:08we take the office on the road with us. A bunch of unopened mail. Don't tell our manager.
03:13Well, we have a breathalyzer. Not that any of us have ever been naughty enough to do anything
03:19wrong. Yes, that's true. But this just... We make sure. We make sure. Yeah. Yeah.
03:24We got some unbranded hydration sticks. Yeah. I have no idea what's in here.
03:31Talk about this. Oh, yeah. You know what? This is my favorite feature of the vehicle.
03:35It's a ring that says MVP, and I got it for Joe. When... What was... I forget completely.
03:42January 1st. Why did I do that? Because you were just doing such a great job?
03:45Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. I think I was just really like... No big deal. I was really like...
03:49Well, you know, we... There were three of us, and so sometimes somebody's slacking. You know,
03:56sometimes someone's sick or whatever. No, no. No, no. Literally not you. That's why you got the
04:00MVP ring. And I don't think it really fits... Well, does it fit you? I don't know. It fits this finger.
04:07There you go. Yeah. It doesn't fit any of ours. Yeah. So, that's why I judge the MVP.
04:11We pass it around as like a little reins heirloom. Whoever does the best job. Yeah. Whoever does
04:16the best job. I've never had it once. I'm going to adorn you with this. It depends on how well
04:21you do with this interview. Thanks. Yeah. That's pretty good. So, right here, we got a trusty
04:25charger. So, you can charge a laptop in it. You know, charge phones. You name it. There's some
04:31tires. Right? What is... I don't know what that is. That doesn't work. I really don't know what that is.
04:37You got to check the pressure of the tires. You know? So, we got that. I will say this,
04:42just for the record. Thank God Joe is in this band for many reasons. But, if Matt and I were
04:47driving around their vehicle, it would have exploded by now. If you were doing this interview
04:51with just Mark and me, we would not... It would be five seconds long. We'd just be like,
04:56yep. This is it. This is the car. Full wheels. It moves. It goes when you press down the gas pedal.
05:04We got this if any of us has a toothache. Sometimes you got to rewire the trailer wires. So,
05:10we got a little whatever them things are called. See, I didn't know any of this stuff was in here.
05:15Yeah, I just... We try to like have something for everything. Well, you do. Mark and I don't know
05:20about it. Whoever wants to be the coolest. Yeah, I don't know. It's really fun being in a car,
05:28not talking for 12 hours at a time. Because sometimes we do that, but honestly... Oh,
05:33little belt buckle right here. We got belt buckles laying all over the place. I got that for a
05:39festival that I hosted a few years ago. Um, what else? All right. On to the back seat. So here,
05:47it's super clean, if you can't tell. Um, we have some electrolyte drinks down here. We have, uh,
05:55Cliff bars. Just the box. Nothing in it, you know. Throw that back there. Good to have. Good to have.
06:02We got some boots. See, one thing I like about the back seat is this vehicle was built to have a lot
06:09of beverages. And in this band, we drink a lot of beverages. Electrolytes, energy drinks, you name it.
06:16And right back there, if you zoom in, it's the little things in this world that really count.
06:22I mean, but Matt somehow manages to spill every dang time. I've never, I've literally never spilled.
06:28Why are you saying that in public? Okay. I'm going to actually show you something.
06:31This is all from Matt. Wait, no. It's on the other side. What am I spilling? I got it. I got it.
06:37Uh, detailed because, you know, you got to feel good in a clean car. Am I really spilling that
06:43many drinks? I'm making this up. Uh, I don't know why, but I, I'm sorry, Matt, for throwing you
06:50into the bus. That's fine. I mean, I guess it's not a moral failing. Oh, speaking of driving,
06:54I've been looking for these for a year. These are night driving glasses. For some reason,
07:00it just makes it a lot easier to drive in the nighttime, but you know, I kind of got bad eyes.
07:05So what I do is this.
07:12So yeah. So we, uh, for much of our career, we've been traveling just the three of us.
07:18And what I like doing is sit in the back and I feel like I, I developed my love for the back seat.
07:25Once I read this interview with Freddie Mercury, where he just like, he just got chauffeured around
07:29and I'm like, that's sick. I just want to get chauffeured around. And obviously that's not
07:33really what's happening, but it kind of feels like it, but I get a lot done back here when it's just
07:37me. I got my little iPad. I draw my little, you know, pictures, whatever for, uh, band graphics,
07:42whatever we need. But lately we, uh, fortunately, thank God, have a drummer we're traveling with.
07:48Sometimes we got merge people. Sometimes we have our manager. So this has, this is no longer my safe space,
07:53really. It's more of a, it's more of a sardine situation.
07:58Did this plane fly somewhere else?
08:01Um, this is something we no longer use anymore because we were driving in California and I almost
08:10got arrested for driving way too fast. The police officer was very kind and let us off free still to
08:16pay a $350 ticket. But back in the day, we used to speed because when you're putting on 12 hour drives,
08:22you go faster, you get there quicker. No more doing that. But it's like a, once again,
08:27it's like an heirloom. We're not going to get rid of it. We're not going to use it.
08:29We're not going to throw anything away. We don't throw stuff away. You wait three days,
08:34there's going to be bottles up to here. You name it.
08:39All right. So we got the back of this big rig, a little drop hitch for our trailer, which isn't here
08:45right now. Um, this, this comes in clutch when you're traveling with the bigger crew, which we
08:52are right now. And it's not like we have the infrastructure to have a huge van and stuff.
08:59Air vets, you gotta have them. They're very, they're very affordable. You can get them at your local,
09:05you know, super store. Um, there's that. Oh, another thing. You never know when you're going
09:11to have to do some work. Got a little screwdriver. Um, once again, more buckles, like I said earlier,
09:20belts, you never know when you're going to need a belt. I want to change the tire. Got this trusty
09:29thing, changing the tires. I mean, what else? Here's a nice, another buckle. Check that bad boy
09:36out. This ended up being a belt buckle freaking tour. Um, yeah. Um, by the way, guys, we have to
09:43ship this vinyl out. So I'm going to put this up here. Forgot about that. Yeah. Um, a bunch of hats.
09:52Uh, where's my new wave hat? Your new wave hat's back here. I gotta find it. Found it. This is
09:58Matt's new wave hat. Matt has a large head and, uh, somehow this fits him. It barely fits me. Yeah,
10:04we'll do this so that it'll fit him. There you go, big boy. Another belt without a buckle on it. Um,
10:16I mean, Brooks, dude, you can't listen to Garth on streaming platforms. So I got this
10:23big cassette. It's not even mine. I got to return it to the rifle owner.
10:26Uh, what else? Edit this out, but I got a can of chew back here.
10:37Okay. So we do have a cargo trailer. We're about to upgrade to a tandem axle, but it's a single axle.
10:43Everything is packed super neatly and tightly. We do the same thing every single time. We've got
10:49shelves in the front. I mean, we got rack cases, amplifiers, a drum set, a whole, we basically carry
10:56a whole back line with us minus the speakers because every venue has their own speakers.
11:02And, uh, typically what we'll do is there's, you know, extra seats in the back. So we have that
11:07and we just throw all our luggage as well in this, uh, cargo trailer. So it's really handy to have got it like
11:15three years ago, probably. And, uh, I think we put a hundred thousand miles on it. Um,
11:20we put a hundred thousand miles on this in the last three years and we didn't tour for one of those
11:24years. So really it was about 50,000 miles per year. Um, so yeah, it's really good. Got the drop hitch.
11:31Sometimes, uh, I like to stand on it and do like bounce moves like this stuff. Anyways.
11:42So we have loads of music out and we're, we're putting out a project right now. Um, you can find
11:47our music on any DSP, all the streaming platforms. If you want to come out to a show, go to reignsmusic.com,
11:54click on our tour dates and you'll be able to find us there. We have bands in town, you name it.
11:58Follow us on all social media at reignsmusic, r-a-y-n-e-s. Check it out and listen,
12:05listen to our songs. We've got some bangers out. Thank you guys.
