00:00Another busy day here at London Gatwick Airport with holidaymakers flying off to the four corners of the earth including the eastern Mediterranean, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey as well as the Gulf in particular on Emirates to Dubai and Qatar Airways to Doha.
00:19However, there has been some pretty extreme disruption elsewhere as a result of the Middle East crisis with tension between Iran and Israel increasing and of course Donald Trump launching an attack against Tehran's nuclear sites.
00:41As a result of that, well British Airways has cancelled four flights in a row from London Heathrow to Dubai and the flights coming back and also a Sunday evening flight from London Heathrow to Doha and the inbound flight on Monday.
00:58That leaves well over a thousand people in those locations trying to fly back.
01:05British Airways will, I imagine, rebook them on Emirates which is continuing to fly as normal from Dubai and Qatar Airways from Doha.
01:15There was though one extraordinary diversion on Saturday night.
01:21A British Airways flight, BA 109, took off normally from London Heathrow, got as far as Saudi Arabian airspace about 90 minutes from its destination Dubai when it was ordered to turn back.
01:35It then flew for about four more hours but it couldn't reach London Heathrow where it had started from and indeed diverted to Zurich.
01:48Everybody safe, everybody on the ground, everybody being flown back on Sunday afternoon on the same aircraft but very disruptive to them and of course leaving more people in the Gulf who need to be brought back.
02:04Meanwhile British Airways is saying if you are flying in the next couple of days from London to Dubai or to Doha then you will be able to reschedule up to the 4th of July you need to call the airline.
02:20I've also had a lot of people concerned about their holiday flights, their plans for going for example to Cyprus and to Turkey.
02:27At the moment there is no Foreign Office warning against going to those locations.
02:33As a result of that you will find that the holiday companies will either say normal terms and conditions apply or perhaps we will allow you to reschedule possibly at extra cost.
