00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at singular or recurring scenes from TV series
00:08that took on greater importance, having foreshadowed or impacted later events.
00:12Naturally, there will be spoilers.
00:24The Seinfeld finale was shrouded in secrecy,
00:29although few could have predicted the series would end with the funny foursome going to prison.
00:33I can think of nothing more fitting than for the four of you to spend a year removed from society
00:42so that you can contemplate the manner in which you have conducted yourselves.
00:51I know I will.
00:53Although many felt blindsided, the second episode of Season 8 subtly hinted that the gang would eventually wind up behind bars.
00:59The episode opens with Jerry and George discussing whether inmates could use a nail clipper as a weapon.
01:04Jerry argues that the big toenail is more dangerous than any clipper.
01:08The two become increasingly intrigued by prison, with George contemplating if they'll go to one someday.
01:13It seems like a meaningless exchange, and at the time, it was probably written as such.
01:24If Seinfeld has taught us anything, though, it's that nothing can unexpectedly snowball into something.
01:30Number 29. Being Accountable.
01:32Ted Lasso.
01:33In Season 1, the arrogant Jamie attempts to smooth things over with his girlfriend, Keeley.
01:37Jamie clearly doesn't even know what he did to upset Keeley, who tries to impart a lesson about accountability.
01:44Do you even know what you're sorry for, Jamie?
01:46You always asked me that.
01:48The word sorry is empty without sincerity.
01:51The scene marks the couple's breakup, but it carries a deeper meaning that pays off in Season 3.
01:56When Keeley is shamed for a leaked video, Jamie comes to her aid.
01:59Although Keeley doesn't blame Jamie, he still feels responsible for what happened.
02:03The least he can do is apologize to Keeley for his reckless actions.
02:07I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Keeley.
02:13I really am.
02:19Thank you, Jamie.
02:21While Jamie still carries a torch for Keeley, he isn't trying to score points with her.
02:25He expresses genuine remorse, finally understanding that being accountable matters.
02:29Number 28. The First D&D Game. Stranger Things.
02:33This cult show introduces us to several characters through Dungeons & Dragons.
02:37Mike speaks of a shadow on the wall that can swallow you into darkness.
02:41Confirming the gang's worst fears, Mike unleashes the Demogorgon.
02:45If that didn't come from the troco lights, I'd know that I came from something else.
02:51The Demogorgon!
02:53With a roll of the dice, Will realizes that the Demogorgon got him.
02:57On a rewatch, fans are inclined to notice that the campaign predicts what's right around the corner.
03:01Will returns home, where an actual Demogorgon pulls him into the Upside Down.
03:06Despite being a dimension away, Will can still communicate through the walls of his house, echoing Mike's words.
03:24Considering that the Upside Down is later described as a dark reflection of their world,
03:28it's fitting that the boys' fantasy would parallel their future reality.
03:31In the first episode, Sergeant Sally Donovan predicts that one day,
03:39they'll discover a body that Sherlock Holmes is responsible for.
03:42One day we'll be standing around a body and Sherlock Holmes will be the one that put it there.
03:45The episode culminates in Sherlock entering a game of wits with a murderous cabbie,
03:49who takes lives through the power of persuasion.
03:51After a conversation, the cabbie is confident Holmes will meet the same fate as his other victims.
03:56Holmes ultimately outwits the cabbie, walking away alive.
03:59While the cabbie dies, he was working for another mastermind, Moriarty.
04:04In the second series, Moriarty makes good on the cabbie's promise, backing Holmes into a corner.
04:09As long as I'm alive, you can save your friends.
04:12You've got a way out.
04:15Well, good luck with that.
04:17Out of options, Sherlock jumps off a roof, seemingly meeting his end.
04:21Although Sherlock survives, somehow,
04:23the pilot was several steps ahead of the audience, much like the titular detective.
04:27Number 26, Only One, Cobra Kai.
04:31Season 4 of the Karate Kid sequel series sees the return of fan-favorite villain Terry Silver.
04:36John Kreese enlists his old Vietnam War buddy to bring down his rivals.
04:40In an ironic twist, Kreese unleashes his own worst enemy.
04:43Silver's betrayal is foretold when Burt mentions that he resembles a Highlander,
04:48alluding to the 1986 film.
04:50It looks like a Highlander.
04:51The Highlander.
04:52There can be only one.
04:53Nathaniel points out that it's the Highlander, as there can be only one.
04:58It seems like a throwaway, nerdy reference to 80s pop culture, which is common in Cobra Kai.
05:03Just as there can be only one Highlander, though,
05:05Silver finds that this dojo isn't big enough for two senseis.
05:09As their teaching methods begin to deviate,
05:11Silver frames Kreese, taking his place as the one.
05:14I'm sure I can pick up an old friend or two to help out with Cobra Kai while you deal with your legal problems.
05:20You're gonna regret this.
05:22I am Cobra Kai.
05:24Number 25.
05:25Michael Kicks a Dog.
05:27The Good Place.
05:28Season 1 of The Good Place plays differently on a rewatch,
05:30now knowing that the characters are truly in the bad place.
05:33I thought to myself,
05:35man, this is torture.
05:37And then it hit me.
05:39They're never gonna call a train to take us to the bad place.
05:42They can't.
05:44Because we're already here.
05:48This is the bad place.
05:51As shocking as this twist was,
05:53there were signs this supposed paradise wasn't what it appeared to be.
05:56The same goes for its architect Michael, a demon in disguise.
06:00Michael lets his dark side shine through in the second episode when he spots a dog,
06:04mistaking it for a glitch.
06:05Kicking it into the sun,
06:07Michael wears a sinister grin, hinting at what's underneath.
06:10Nice try, puppy!
06:12It soon revealed that the dog wasn't a glitch.
06:15Although we think Michael always knew that.
06:17Even if the animal was a glitch,
06:19would a servant of the good place dispose of it in such a gleefully mean way?
06:23Number 24.
06:24Coming into Focus.
06:25The Big Bang Theory.
06:27Sheldon Cooper is a man of science,
06:28so he's naturally skeptical when Penny drags him to a psychic in Season 7.
06:33The psychic is wiser than Sheldon assumes,
06:35telling him that his professional pursuits and personal life are intertwined.
06:39He should give himself to this relationship.
06:42Once he does, all his other pursuits will come into focus.
06:45Sheldon, do you hear that?
06:47I mean, Amy is the key to your happiness.
06:49Exactly.
06:50Personally and professionally.
06:52Once he fully commits to Amy,
06:54everything will come into focus.
06:56Sheldon refuses to accept that a so-called fortune teller could know more than him,
07:00waiting another three seasons before popping the question.
07:03Right before tying the knot a year later,
07:06Sheldon and Amy have an epiphany,
07:07laying the groundwork for Super Asymmetry.
07:10Super Asymmetry, that's it!
07:14Give me your lipstick.
07:15What?
07:15Just give it to me, you beautiful thing.
07:16We have work to do.
07:17It puts them on the path to winning the Nobel Prize,
07:20something that might have happened much sooner had Sheldon listened to the psychic.
07:24Amy was always the key to the equation.
07:27Number 23.
07:28Chelsea's Words to Rick,
07:29The White Lotus.
07:30Rick can never see what's right in front of him,
07:32constantly ignoring his girlfriend Chelsea while dwelling on the past.
07:36Had Rick paid more attention to Chelsea,
07:38he might have realized that almost everything she says is a premonition of their tragic fate.
07:42Oh, this is so on brand for you.
07:46To be a victim of your own decisions.
07:49The earliest example comes in the season 3 premiere
07:51when Chelsea tells Rick that he's a victim of his own decisions.
07:55Throughout the season,
07:56Chelsea makes several other comments about death coming for her and being with Rick forever.
08:00As on the nose as Chelsea's words sound in retrospect,
08:04it's still jaw-dropping when Rick's quest for revenge
08:06results in the death of the woman he loves.
08:08You can't die on me, okay?
08:11Chelsea!
08:12Rick's choices turn him into a victim as well,
08:15taking a permanent vacation with Chelsea.
08:17Number 22.
08:18The Rip Torn Gun.
08:19Barry.
08:20After losing his girlfriend Janice,
08:22acting coach Gene Cousineau considers joining her.
08:25His weapon of choice?
08:26A gun from his former roommate and fellow actor Rip Torn.
08:29In my bedroom, under the bed,
08:34there's a mahogany box.
08:37And in that box is a pearl-handled .38 special,
08:42screen used from the movie Flashpoint,
08:47given to me by my former roommate Rip Torn.
08:51While Cousineau doesn't turn the gun on himself,
08:53it alters the course of his life.
08:54In the final season,
08:56a paranoid Cousineau accidentally shoots his son Leo with the gun.
09:00While Leo survives,
09:01Barry isn't so lucky when Cousineau resurfaces years later.
09:04Although the authorities believe Cousineau was behind Janice's death,
09:07Barry is the true culprit.
09:09Barry is on the verge of coming clean
09:11until Cousineau murders him using the Rip Torn gun.
09:14You should call the cops.
09:15The cops?
09:18I'm gonna turn myself...
09:18Oh, wow.
09:28While Cousineau gets his revenge,
09:30he's killed the only person who can clear his name.
09:33Thus, Cousineau finds his life ripped and torn apart.
09:37Number 21.
09:38The Sound of Silence.
09:39The Sopranos.
09:40Upon airing,
09:41The Sopranos finale angered and confused numerous viewers,
09:44who were unable to fathom why David Chase would end the series with an abrupt cut to black.
09:52Don't stop.
09:53The answer may lie in an episode from earlier that season
09:56when Tony and Bobby contemplate what it's like when somebody gets whacked.
09:59Bobby theorizes that you probably don't even hear it.
10:02This eerily mirrors Tony's final scene.
10:04Not only has the screen gone black,
10:06but the music playing in the background can no longer be heard.
10:09You probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?
10:11Although some may debate Tony's fate,
10:13his conversation with Bobby is the most telling clue.
10:16Tony more than likely died in that diner,
10:19backing up Bobby's theory that in death,
10:21silence is the only soundtrack.
10:23Number 20.
10:2425 Years.
10:25Twin Peaks.
10:26Twin Peaks is a weird, weird show full of cryptic messages,
10:30and sometimes it's just bizarre for the sake of bizarre.
10:33One of the most intriguing recurring elements
10:35are the Black Lodge segments set in the red-curtained room,
10:38where characters have a strange, backward speech pattern.
10:41In one of these scenes,
10:45the murdered Laura Palmer talks to FBI agent Dale Cooper,
10:49telling him that she'll see him in 25 years.
10:57Lo and behold,
10:58the revival series is set and filmed in 2016,
11:02even if it was released a year later.
11:04Did creator David Lynch plan for this?
11:06Probably not,
11:07but it does lend a certain mystique to the scene in hindsight.
11:11I am Laura Palmer.
11:18But Laura Palmer is dead.
11:24I am dead.
11:27Number 19.
11:28Beetlejuice.
11:29Community.
11:29Some shows take a long time to pay off jokes,
11:33but few of them set up years in advance.
11:35However,
11:36most shows are not community.
11:38I'm chaperoning tomorrow's dance.
11:41You should come.
11:42Maybe your study buds will go.
11:43What's the blonde's name?
11:44Bitter Butter Beetlejuice?
11:46As anyone familiar with the movie Beetlejuice is aware,
11:49the titular ghoul appears after you say his name three times.
11:52Community takes this and runs with the idea,
11:54with the character being mentioned in passing once in season one,
11:57a second time in season two,
11:59Don't you usually wear the stripy turquoise Beetlejuice numbers?
12:02and then a third time in season three,
12:04after which a character in the background dressed like Beetlejuice appears.
12:07There's nothing in your playlist but spooky party,
12:10the Beetlejuice soundtrack and NPR podcasts.
12:12Now that's dedication.
12:14Number 18.
12:15Mary apologizes.
12:16Supernatural.
12:18Arguably the defining moment in the life of the Winchester brothers
12:20is the death of their mother Mary at the hands of a demon.
12:24It sets them on the path to hunting supernatural creatures
12:26due to being trained by their father John.
12:29So,
12:29when the boys encounter their mother's ghost,
12:31Sam is puzzled when she apologizes to him.
12:34I'm sorry.
12:40For what?
12:42Several seasons later,
12:43we learn that Mary is apologizing
12:44because she made a deal with the same demon that killed her
12:47and fed demon blood to Sam,
12:49permitting him to enter her house in exchange for John's life.
12:52Mary's apology is for her own role in the brothers' lives
12:56turning out the way they have.
12:57As long as I'm not interrupted,
13:00nobody gets hurt.
13:01Number 17.
13:02Kenneth's Immortality.
13:0430 Rock.
13:05NBC page Kenneth is a little unsettling,
13:08despite his chipper demeanor.
13:09And we don't just mean his permanently toothy grin.
13:13Throughout the show,
13:14there's a running gag that Kenneth is somehow much older than he appears.
13:17And while this can range from subtle scenes,
13:20such as his making reference to pop culture of the 1940s and 50s,
13:23and being affected by sounds only heard by people over 40,
13:26at other times,
13:27things get a bit more blatant,
13:29such as his paranoia about his age
13:31and his apparent first words to his mother.
13:33He looked up at me and he said,
13:34Mama,
13:35I am not a person.
13:37My body's just a flesh vessel.
13:39While this could just be a character quirk,
13:41it all pays off in the finale,
13:42where a scene in the distant future reveals Kenneth in charge of NBC,
13:46and looking exactly the same.
13:48Number 16.
13:49Leslie Knope's Womb.
13:51Parks and Recreation.
13:52In season two of Parks and Rec,
13:54Leslie Knope is set up on a blind date with an MRI tech, Chris,
13:57by her friend Anne.
13:58Their date isn't exactly romantic,
14:00since he takes her to have an MRI after learning she's never had one.
14:03He also makes some awkward comments regarding her womb,
14:07claiming that she could have triplets the first time she gets pregnant.
14:09You got a great oven.
14:11Okay, time to go.
14:12You got ample room in there.
14:14Honestly, if you wanted to,
14:16you could go triplets right off the bat, Leslie.
14:19Although certainly a bit creepy,
14:20Chris' medical opinion proves accurate,
14:23since a few seasons later,
14:24when Leslie becomes pregnant by her husband Ben,
14:26they do indeed have triplets.
14:28Triplets.
14:31Triplets.
14:32Number 15.
14:33Monica Wants Twins.
14:34Friends.
14:35Late in Friends' first season,
14:37Ross' ex-wife gives birth to their son.
14:39While waiting around for the birth,
14:41the gang, particularly Monica,
14:43has babies on the mind,
14:44with her lamenting the fact that she doesn't have one of her own,
14:47demanding why a passing mother gets to have two.
14:49Chandler then offers to get together and have one with her
14:52in a nice gesture that goes hilariously wrong.
14:55Dear God, this parachute is a knapsack.
14:59Not only does this scene foreshadow Chandler and Monica getting together years in advance,
15:03it also takes on added significance,
15:05once the two of them adopt twins from a new mother in the final season.
15:09Oh, look at these little bunnies.
15:11I know.
15:14You ready to trade?
15:16Okay.
15:17Okay.
15:18Number 14.
15:19Lane Price's Fate.
15:20Mad Men.
15:21I'm gonna need your resignation.
15:22Mad Men was still in its heyday during its fifth season,
15:25and this episode only helped raise the excitement.
15:28In the 12th episode,
15:29Lane Price hangs himself after being forced to resign for stealing money from the company.
15:33What's going on?
15:35I think something's terribly wrong in Mr. Price's office.
15:38I can't get the door open.
15:39However, if you paid close attention throughout the season,
15:42this act by Price would be no surprise to you.
15:45Look, I already have life insurance.
15:47I came with my junior partnership.
15:49And it's six times my annual salary.
15:50Examples include Pete discussing life insurance in the event of self-harm,
15:55Price himself ironically exclaiming,
15:57I'll be here for the rest of my life.
15:58I'll be here the rest of my life.
16:00And even Don sketching a noose.
16:03Suffice it to say,
16:04the show's writers knew exactly where they were going with Price.
16:07Get something to come down.
16:09Number 13.
16:10Witch in the Credits.
16:11American Horror Story.
16:13Much of the plot of the third season of this anthology horror series depicts Fiona Good,
16:17a witch,
16:18and her search-slash-murder spree for the next supreme witch after herself,
16:22who will make herself known by displaying the seven wonders or seven magical abilities.
16:26However,
16:27the answer as to who will be the next supreme is actually teased in the opening credits.
16:31Fiona's daughter Cordelia is played by Sarah Paulson,
16:35whose name in the title sequence is displayed next to Mexican death saint Santa Muerte,
16:39also known as the Lady of the Seven Powers.
16:42Anyone familiar with the iconography certainly had a leg up over other viewers.
16:47In the absence of the council,
16:49as reigning supreme of this coven,
16:51I hereby decree
16:52for the murders of our sister witch Cicely Pembroke.
16:57Number 12.
16:58That's in his future.
17:00The Walking Dead.
17:01While Rick's explanation about rabbit snares foreshadowing Terminus was also considered,
17:05we elected to go with these deadly sports-related clues instead.
17:09Baseball.
17:09America's pastime, right?
17:10Well, not so much in an apocalyptic zombie wasteland.
17:14Some serious foreshadowing stepped up to the plate in season 5 for Glenn,
17:17who, at various points in the season,
17:19was pictured picking up baseball bats
17:21and also nearly meeting his end via a bat beating.
17:24Hey!
17:26Your shot count?
17:27Well, that nearly vanished a couple of seasons later
17:30when Negan took a swing
17:31and did not miss in one of TV's most shocking and brutal moments.
17:36So!
17:37Back to it.
17:42Number 11.
17:43Fitz's convo with Ward.
17:45Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
17:46Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may not be as connected to the MCU as many would like,
17:50but it's still got plenty of great little connections within the show itself.
17:54One occurs when Grant Ward and Leopold Fitz are on a mission together in season 1
17:58and they're captured.
17:59Ward, while making plans to escape,
18:01inquires how long Fitz can hold his breath underwater.
18:03How long can you hold your breath underwater?
18:05Although Fitz has no idea at the time,
18:07he's forced to find out not long after at Ward's hands
18:10as he betrays the team,
18:12dropping Fitz and Simmons out of a plane to sink to the bottom of the ocean.
18:16In order to escape the underwater prison,
18:18Fitz enacts a daring scheme that forces him to hold his breath.
18:22No!
18:27Number 10.
18:28Scully's Howler.
18:29The X-Files.
18:30Tell me where Alice Brand is.
18:32She's safe
18:39from the Howlers.
18:42This season 4 episode is not only notable for being written by Vince Gilligan of Breaking Bad fame,
18:47but also for introducing a major story element.
18:50The episode Unruhe sees Mulder and Scully track down a killer who gives lobotomies to women.
18:55Do I remind you of your sister?
18:56Why did your sister kill herself, Jerry?
19:02What did your father do to her?
19:04He didn't do anything.
19:06It was the Howlers.
19:07When he captures Scully,
19:08he tells her that she has Howlers in her head that he wants to remove.
19:12They live inside your head.
19:14They make you do things and say things that you don't mean.
19:17And all your good thoughts can't wish them away.
19:20You need help.
19:23You've got them right there.
19:27Fast forward to a few weeks later in the 12th episode,
19:29when it's revealed that Scully has brain cancer.
19:32And wouldn't you know it,
19:33it's in the exact same place that the lobotomy killer pointed to.
19:37I have cancer.
19:39It is a mass on the wall between my sinus and cerebrum.
19:43If it pushes into my brain statistically,
19:45there is about zero chance of survival.
19:47Number 9.
19:48Loose Seal.
19:50Arrested Development.
19:51Even for as bingeable a show as Arrested Development is,
19:54there are some things that escape viewers the first time through,
19:57which is what makes re-watching it so rewarding.
19:59One of the most notable is the frequency of early hints
20:02that Buster Bluth will lose a limb.
20:04And the hand chair.
20:05I had one in my room.
20:07I wonder where that went.
20:08It went right there.
20:09Oh, I never thought I'd miss a hand so much.
20:11From the fact that a loose seal is responsible,
20:14his mother's name is Lucille, folks,
20:16to the numerous sly references to Buster losing a hand,
20:19we just have to give a hand to the creators of the show
20:22for being this on the ball with the build-up to this plot point.
20:25Lucille!
20:26Watch out for Lucille!
20:27I don't care about Lucille!
20:29They're lying!
20:31And then a seal bites off his hand.
20:34Number 8.
20:34Expiration Date.
20:36Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
20:37Score.
20:38Buffy became a major contender for fantasy show of the decade,
20:42thanks in no small part to its numerous uses of foreshadowing.
20:46There were plenty of foreshadowing moments throughout Buffy's run,
20:49from the early revelation of Willow's sexuality via her vampire doppelganger,
20:53to Faith predicting Dawn's existence during a dream sequence.
20:56It's horrible.
20:58That's me as a vampire?
21:00I'm so evil and skanky.
21:03And I think I'm kind of gay.
21:04But for this entry, we're focusing on Joyce's credit card,
21:07which has an expiration date of May 2001,
21:10as read out loud by Faith.
21:11Six, four, four, seven.
21:16Uh, expiration five, oh, one.
21:19Fast forward one season,
21:20when Buffy tragically dies by jumping into a portal.
21:23This episode's air date?
21:25May 22nd, 2001.
21:27Looks like the expiration date of the credit card
21:29was actually referring to the expiration of Buffy's life.
21:32And knowing Joss Whedon,
21:33there is no way this was just a coincidence.
21:36Don, listen to me.
21:37Listen.
21:40I love you.
21:42I will always love you.
21:45This is the work that I have to do.
21:47Number seven, River Song, Doctor Who.
21:49Doctor, please tell me you know who I am.
21:56Who are you?
21:57Time travel allows for plenty of callbacks and call forwards.
22:01Although the bad wolf mentions
22:03throughout the first series of the revival are quite good,
22:05when it comes to unexpected importance and foreshadowing,
22:08River Song is basically this concept
22:10distilled into a character.
22:12A mysterious woman the Doctor meets
22:14who seems to have knowledge of his personal future,
22:16River Song proves to have a lot of personal significance
22:18to the Time Lord in future seasons,
22:20being the daughter of some of his future companions,
22:23his wife, and his supposed murderer.
22:26Though not in that order.
22:27Hello.
22:31But that means...
22:33I'm afraid it does.
22:34The fact that she name-drops some of their future adventures together,
22:37as well as calls back or forward to things she or he has said,
22:42makes River's appearances great to revisit.
22:44Number six, Watch Your Back, Babylon 5.
22:46This space western is notable for being planned out in advance from the beginning.
23:00So, of course, the head writer, J. Michael Straczynski,
23:02would drop many hints and bits of foreshadowing throughout its run.
23:05One of the best examples has to be when Walker Smith
23:08tells Chief Warrant Officer Michael Garibaldi
23:10that he's going to learn to watch his back.
23:13One of these days, Garibaldi, you're going to learn to watch your back.
23:16Walker Smith.
23:18Well, you can guess what happens next.
23:20During the first season finale,
23:22Garibaldi is shot in the back
23:24in an attempt to keep an assassination plot a secret.
23:26If he'd been watching it like Smith told him to,
23:34then maybe this wouldn't have been an issue.
23:36Nothing's the same anymore.
23:37Number five, Ben Sullivan's absent camera, Scrubs.
23:41In one of the feelsiest Scrubs episodes of all time,
23:44Ben's famous death proves just how fine a line
23:46the show walks between comedy and drama.
23:48There's one more thing you have to do for me.
23:50You can't keep me from getting drunk.
23:53You have to forgive yourself for everything that went down the other day.
23:56While Ben is a little irritating, he means well.
23:59He also always has his camera,
24:01even proclaiming that his camera will be with him
24:03until he's no longer alive.
24:05You still doing the whole kooky guy
24:06who brings his camera everywhere thing?
24:08Till the day I die.
24:10Well, later in the episode,
24:11his camera is mysteriously absent,
24:13and no one seems to acknowledge Ben except for Cox.
24:16There was your camera, aren't you...
24:18aren't you going to take some pictures?
24:21Pictures of what?
24:23No, crying babies covered in chocolate.
24:26People singing happy birthday to my son
24:27who've never even met him before.
24:29You know, the whole routine.
24:32Where do you think we are?
24:33It's not until the end of the episode
24:35that it's all painfully put together.
24:37With the help of those around you,
24:39you'll get through this too.
24:42Number 4.
24:43An Omen of Animals, Game of Thrones.
24:45Given that it's based on a book series as thick as bricks,
24:48Game of Thrones has plenty of little seeds
24:50and hints of future events to be found throughout.
24:51And while choosing the reveal about Hodor's name was tempting,
24:55one of its most easily overlooked
24:57happens in the very first episode.
24:59Ned Stark and his children come upon a direwolf mother
25:01and a stag which have killed each other,
25:03leaving six pups without a parent.
25:06Where will they go?
25:07Their mother's dead.
25:09Flash forward to the end of season 1,
25:10and Ned, head of House Stark,
25:12whose symbol is a direwolf,
25:14and Robert Baratheon, whose symbol is a stag,
25:17are both dead,
25:18with Ned's six children largely left to fend for themselves.
25:21Number 3.
25:22Thanksgiving Flash Forward,
25:24How I Met Your Mother.
25:25Marshall,
25:26something's happened.
25:29Um,
25:30your father,
25:32he had a heart attack.
25:35He didn't make it.
25:37Although the subtle countdown to Marvin's death
25:39seen in the same episode was worthy of consideration,
25:42we're taking a look at a different episode about the same topic.
25:44This is supposed to be a comedy!
25:46That's what everyone yelled at their screen
25:47as they discreetly wiped away their tears
25:49after hearing of Marvin's death via heart attack.
25:51My dad's dead?
25:53However,
25:54an innocent throwaway joke predicted the event two seasons earlier.
25:57As Marshall cuts the Thanksgiving turkey in a flash forward,
26:00his father Marvin is mysteriously absent from the family table.
26:03While this is obviously not a 100% accurate scenario,
26:06since, you know,
26:07lightsabers,
26:08it's still a haunting depiction of their family life in the near future,
26:11when Marvin Sr. is no longer with them.
26:14Honey, please be careful!
26:19Number 2.
26:20Light vs. Dark,
26:22Lost.
26:22What is it like?
26:23Checkers?
26:26Not really,
26:27it's a better game than
26:28Checkers.
26:29Lost is chock full of foreshadowing,
26:31lore,
26:32and complexities.
26:33But that's what fans love so much about it.
26:35In its first season as John Locke and Walt Lloyd play backgammon,
26:39Locke explains the game using the concept of light vs. dark.
26:42Two players.
26:43Two sides.
26:45One is light.
26:47One is dark.
26:48To all those English majors out there,
26:50it's obvious that the scene is not just filler about backgammon,
26:54as it explains the moral complexities of the characters,
26:56and reveals the rivalry between Jacob,
26:59white,
26:59and the man in black,
27:00dark.
27:01Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you?
27:04Yes.
27:05And as it turns out,
27:06the island is just one big game of backgammon.

27:25Number 1.
27:26The Teddy Bear.
27:27Breaking Bad.
27:28Breaking Bad is a masterpiece on all fronts,
27:31and that includes plenty of hints at future events.
27:34As tempting as it was to pick certain moments,
27:36like Walt spinning a gun actually being the moment he decides to poison a child,
27:40we went with an even more arresting image.
27:42Throughout Season 2,
27:43black and white cold opens in some episodes feature a burned pink teddy bear in Walt's pool.
27:47Although these scenes also herald the season's finale involving a plane crash,
27:51the bear itself with its half-burned visage has drawn comparisons to Gus Fring,
27:56whose dramatic death several seasons later also saw him with a half-burned face.
28:00If it were any other show, we'd chalk it up to coincidence,
28:03but come on, it's Breaking Bad.
28:05Of course it's intentional.
28:14Can you think of any other scenes that were more important than we realized?
28:17Let us know in the comments.
28:18Wow, it's only a year.
28:20That's not so bad.
28:22We'll be out in a year.
28:24And then we'll be back.
