DUP leader Gavin Robinson MP on the importance of supporting Armed Forces Day, as he toured the military village section of the 2025 event in Newtownards.
Transcript
00:00So I'm here at Armed Forces Day with DUP leader Gavin Robbins.
00:04Gavin, what's been your opinion of the day?
00:06It's been a wonderful day so far. You can see the crowds all around.
00:10It's a superb location of Scrabble Tower behind us in Stranford Rock in front.
00:15And the crowds really are phenomenal today.
00:17I know some have had some difficulty in accessing the site, but the sun is out.
00:21Everyone's in great form, and the Fultons, when they arrived this morning, were sweet.
00:25So why was it you felt you should come here today to support the Armed Forces?
00:31I mean, what does Armed Forces Day mean to you?
00:34So I've been for a number of years now in Northern Ireland.
00:37I've had the pleasure of joining people who serve our country and do so proudly, but do so honourably,
00:41both here in Northern Ireland and right throughout the world on conflict zones and humanitarian disasters.
00:47And those who have served us in days gone by as well, it's important that we honour them.
00:51For eight years, I sat on the House of Commons Defence Select Committee.
00:55I was Northern Ireland's sole voice on that committee, standing up for our Armed Forces in our UK Parliament.
01:00And so I've always thought that it's an important day and a please do it again.
