Zimbabwe: Yoga in a tavern is the latest mental health outreach

00:00Yoga is making more inroads in Zimbabwe.
00:04In this social at-bar located in the township on the house castle, the capital Harare, dozens
00:09of people converge here to experience yoga.
00:13The practice is rare and mostly found in wealthy suburbs, yet it is quietly taking root
00:19here in a beer tavern in Chitunguiza.
00:22To be done in high up there, where we can see rich guys to participate in the yoga classes.
00:34But just by that, it doesn't necessarily mean that those guys are human.
00:41We have both also humans in the ghetto, we have both also humans in our community.
00:45This is why we are trying to introduce it.

00:49Because they need mental illness.
00:53The sessions have become a source of relief for people navigating Zimbabwe's relentless
00:58challenges.
00:59I used to be a person that got depressed a lot.
