New Delhi, June 21, 2025 (ANI): On the occasion of International Yoga Day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar participated in a yoga session and performed various yoga asanas. The event highlighted the global appeal of yoga as a tool for physical and mental well-being. The minister emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and its role in promoting global harmony and health.

00:00I extend a very warm welcome to the distinguished heads of missions and thank you for joining us this morning.
00:07Excellencies, we are honored to have you amongst us.
00:11And we have in our midst now the Honorable External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S. J. Shankar.
00:18We extend a very hearty welcome to the Honorable Minister on this occasion.
00:24Ladies and gentlemen, Excellencies, distinguished guests,
00:28we are at the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga
00:32and this celebration is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs
00:36here at the historic G20 tree plantation area in Nehru Park, New Delhi.
00:45Yoga, a Sanskrit word which means to unite or to connect, is more than just a practice.
00:54It is India's gift to global well-being, symbolizing the harmony of body, mind and spirit.
01:05And today, as we mark a decade of this universal celebration,
01:11we do so with friends and diplomatic missions from across the world.
01:16This year, we celebrate under the theme, Yoga for One Earth, One Health.
01:24A powerful call to care not only for ourselves, but for each other and the planet we share.
01:32From nurturing individual well-being to inspiring systemic change,
01:37India's evolving yoga landscape is shaping a healthier, more harmonious world.
01:44Ladies and gentlemen, we are also honored to have amidst us three distinguished yoga practitioners
01:52from Argentina, Singapore and Kazakhstan.
01:57They are here as part of a 17-member delegation from 15 countries
02:02to participate in the Yoga Bandhan Initiative
02:05to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga.
02:11It is inspiring that the number of yoga events that are being held worldwide
02:16has doubled this year from last year.
02:19And this time, there are more than 2,000 yoga events
02:23held in over 1,300 locations in 191 countries.
02:29191 countries, ladies and gentlemen, of the world.
02:33So every country in the world is celebrating the International Day of Yoga with us.
02:39And now, we begin with the Common Yoga Protocol Session,
02:4445 minutes of mindfulness, movement and inner harmony.
02:49May this morning energize your day
02:51and deepen our collective commitment to health and balance.
02:56I now invite our yoga instructor to please lead us.

03:19So, without any further delay, let us begin the session.
03:31I request everyone to please sit down at your place.
03:36Sit in any comfortable posture, known as Sukhasana.
03:50With the back and neck straight,
03:55we begin the session with prayer.
04:01Join your palms in Namaskar Mudra.
04:07Bring your hands close to the chest.
04:11Gently close your eyes.
04:20May you move in harmony.
04:23May you speak in unison.
04:26Let our mind be equanimous like in the beginning.
04:33Let the divinity manifest in all our endeavors.
04:40With this bhaava, we'll chant the prayer.
