Karat - Uber Sieben Brucken 1979,Blues Rock, Prog Rock
Über sieben Brücken (Over Seven Bridges) is the second album by the German rock group Karat, released in 1979 in the GDR. It was released in the Federal Republic of Germany under the name Albatros with a slightly modified track list.
The album opens with a rocking triple suite consisting of the synthesizer composition "Introduction," the rock 'n' roll "He, Mama," and the blues. This is followed by the hard rock song "Wilder Mohn." Then, a more tranquil tone is struck with the instrumental piece "Music to a Nonexistent Film," a composition for electric guitar and symphony orchestra. The soulful "Auf den Meeren" (On the Seas) stands out for its striking bass line, which moves primarily in eighth-note octave leaps and is carried by the calmly played drums and gentle keyboard sounds. The calm mood of the verses contrasts with the powerful chorus, evoking associations with the various sea conditions and demonstrating the unity of lyrics and music. The country song Das, was ich will is one of the shortest Karat titles on Über sieben Brücken.
