The Buss family, architects of 11 NBA championships, is poised to relinquish their four-decade reign over the LA Lakers, with ESPN reporting they are entering an agreement to sell a majority stake in basketball's most glamorous franchise. Lakers minority owner Mark Walter is set to take majority ownership in a deal valuing the Lakers at about $10 billion, making it the most expensive US sports team valuation in history.

00:00it's kind of it's kind of sad in a way because um me being a Laker fan here been here all my life
00:27I like the fact that the it's been Jerry Buss's family being controlled but it's a good and a and a it's it's a bad and a good thing for me the good thing is they have more resources to get players you know so hopefully they'll take a page of the Dodger book and be able to get more players I'm kind of hurt about it because you know the bus family you know on the majority of the Lakers for a long time but I think I think it's a good move in the long run because I feel like it's been poor um management of the Lakers
00:57you know we go after a lot of big name players all the time even after they're already washed up and everything I feel like having some new ownership and everything would actually do us good in the long run almost disappointed because it seems like the end of an era now I'm not sure what the future is going to be whereas with uh when Jenny Buss was the owner of the team he had a pretty good feel for how things were going to go um I've been a Laker fan for 40 years now
01:27synonymous with the ownership for that period of time so I was very surprised just the Lakers the fans we established so much already in LA and we have accomplished so much so I just see greatness for us that continue to be great like we've been you know rocking my boy Kobe the best of all time you know and I just see greatness for the city
