00:13The Buss family is entering an agreement to sell majority ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers to Mark Walter,
00:19the CEO and chairman of diversified holding company TWG Global.
00:24Sources tell ESPN, Jeannie Buss will continue to serve in a role as governor after the sale.
00:28We'll get to that second part later, but I was surprised by this.

00:37Like the Lakers must've been engaging in talks to sell the team for quite some time, but we never got word of that.
00:43So when you heard the Lakers were sold yesterday, what was your initial thoughts, Joe?
00:48Yeah, well, it was not so much that they sold.
00:51And by the way, you got two of the, uh, the greatest legendary franchises have now been sold within the last year in the NBA.
00:59I mean, the, the Celtics got 6 billion, uh, and now you've got the market reset here.
01:06Not a couple of months later with the Lakers at $10 billion, but it's to me, it's the, it's the group.
01:13It's the guys who bought it, uh, because this guy, Walter, uh, what he has done, Mark Walter and this group, what they have done with the Dodgers is no joke.
01:23Uh, and he took the team over, I think in what 2012, 2013.
01:27Yeah.
01:28And it took them a little while.
01:29And if you remember Donnie at that time, the Dodgers were a wreck of a franchise at that point.
01:35They had a divorce going on, right.
01:37With the previous owner.
01:38It was a mess.
01:39He comes in, gets it all straightened out.
01:41And what does he do?
01:42Well, he wins two world series titles here.
01:44Now one in 2021 and 24 lands, the greatest baseball player in the world.
01:49He'd had nothing to do with it, but now his task is going to be to lock up one of the best, uh, NBA players, uh, you know, a generational talent in Luca and get rid of all the rest.
