00:00I mean, yeah, my dad was a Cubs fan, and he is a bit of a baseball nerd,

00:05and I think that has definitely rubbed off on me as the years have gone on.

00:11A lot of Cubs fans hearing that will say, well, you were born to be a Cub,

00:14and they would want you to be here for the duration of your career.

00:17And I know that was part of the conversation earlier this season, Pete,

00:20when it came out that you guys were already talking about a contract extension,

00:24and that would be a big number.

00:25And just wonder, from a business perspective,

00:27you don't want anything to interfere with the progress you've made on the field,

00:31but how important is it for you to maybe lock up something long-term

00:36so you are here for the duration of your career?

00:40Well, yeah, I mean, that's the goal.

00:44I think what's important to me is being somewhere I feel convicted in winning it.

00:55And then, obviously, you know, where I feel comfortable playing and living

01:01and all that for a long period of time.

01:03And, you know, I absolutely think that Chicago is the place to do that for me.

01:07And, I mean, yeah, I already take so much pride in being a Cub

01:12and, you know, what comes with that.

01:15So, you know, any way that we can, you know, get me here for a while,

01:22I think would be ideal.

01:24And, you know, until then, I'm just going to keep focusing on this year

01:29because, you know, I think, you know, I would take a World Series this year

01:36over anything else, if I'm being honest.

01:38And, shoot, I mean, I see myself doing that here for many years to come.

01:44So, yeah, I mean, that's always important, you know, thinking about what could be next,

01:51but only using that as a real drive, you know, in my pursuit of success, I guess.

02:00Because the deal and the money is what it is.

02:02I like thinking about the years more than anything and what signing that long-term deal could mean

02:09in terms of just any impact I have on this place.
