Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is in Geneva for talks with his European counterparts aimed at ending the conflict between Israel and Iran. CGTN’s Julia Lyubova reports from Geneva.

00:00The talks between the Iranian foreign minister and his European counterparts are underway here in Geneva.
00:08In fact, the talks just got underway at the Intercontinental Hotel just behind me here earlier on today.
00:14So the Iranian foreign minister arrived earlier after doing a speech at the United Nations Human Rights Council.
00:23And in his speech he said that Iran is defending itself against Israeli aggression.
00:30And after this speech at the Human Rights Council, he travelled to the hotel here and met with the European foreign ministers.
00:38So the European foreign ministers here include the UK, Germany and France.
00:42And the European Union is represented by the High Representative of Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Callas.
00:50But the aim of these talks is to diffuse tensions in the latest conflict between Israel and Iran
00:55and to work towards a diplomatic solution in that conflict.
00:59European foreign ministers earlier called for restraint from both sides in this conflict.
01:05And earlier Iran insisted that the talks here in Switzerland should only focus on Iran's nuclear program.
