00:00The visit came at a critical time.
00:04Shortly after Israel launched a missile attack on Iran's nuclear sites, Germany's Foreign
00:10Minister Johan Wadipool met with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelati in Cairo on Friday.
00:17The Iranian nuclear program poses a threat to the entire region, especially Israel.
00:29Israel has the right to defend its existence and the security of its citizens.
00:34And we urge all parties to refrain from any escalatory steps that would endanger security
00:41in the region.
00:48We are against any form of escalation.
00:50We are against violating the sovereignty of states.
00:53We are against violating international law.
00:56We are against violating the United Nations Charter, and therefore we condemn this Israeli
01:02aggression against Iran, because it is unjustified and certainly contributes to further escalation
01:08and also contributes to pouring more oil on the fire and inflaming the situation in the
01:13region, which is already on a hot plate.
01:21Egypt was the first stop on the regional tour for Germany's Foreign Minister, who took on
01:26his new role in May.
01:28The two countries also discussed bilateral relations and Egypt's efforts in ceasefire negotiations
01:33between Israel and Hamas.
