00:00Have you heard this viral TikTok sound?
00:12There's nothing like a distinctive laugh, and this TikTok trend is highlighting some particular
00:17kinds of laughs from characters of the anime Bleach. But where did the trend start, and is
00:21that actually what these characters sound like? On March 27th, 2025, TikToker Niyuki posted a
00:27Bleach fan-edit highlighting the characters Orihime Inouye, Rukia Kuchiki, Ichigo Kurosaki, and Nelly
00:32Elf. The video plays short clips of each character laughing, mashed up with a beat called Harinezumi
00:37made by artist Wayera. The video garnered over 20 million views over the next several months.
00:47Other users would start using the sound from Niyuki's video in their own content as early
00:51as April 2025, like this Gacha Life edit from YouTuber Helena that garnered over 15 million
00:56views. The audio spread, with creators making more animations depicting characters from
01:00different fandoms laughing along to the sound. For example, on April 15th, TikToker and animator
01:05Ami Artra posted a short animation using the audio based on the Roblox survival horror game
01:10Dandy's World, garnering over 2.4 million views in a month. The meme really picked up traction
01:15in May and June, as more and more creators would post all kinds of viral content using
01:19the sound, showing more animated characters from different fandoms laughing, creating fan art
01:24or edits based on Niyuki's original video, or posting IRL versions with friends lipdubbing
01:29to the laughing sounds. Even this weird little horse puppet was depicted laughing along to
01:33the sound. This spurred a further How I Laugh trend, where creators lipdub to the laughs
01:37alongside captions labeling each one as how they would laugh in different situations.
01:41For example, on May 19th, TikToker Kier So Based posted a lipdub with a caption for each
01:46laugh. The first being how he laughs at femboys, the second how he laughs in front of the gang,
01:51and the last, how he laughs at haters of Kaisenat, garnering over 5.8 million views in just
01:56over a week. On June 13th, YouTuber Laze posted a video breaking down the different elements
02:01of the trend, starting by showing what the actual laughs from Bleach sound like without the track.
