00:00Yeah, when I was at school my art teacher inspired me called Hugh Purchase and he was

00:06a landscape painter and I did art A-level and then went to art school eventually. That's

00:11what brought me to Liverpool, actually going to art school here.

00:14I had an art teacher at Quarry Bank called Alan Plent. He was amazing and he treated

00:26the kids like adults.

00:28He made you believe if you had something to say you could say it. He didn't make

00:32judgements about whether you were doing the right thing or the wrong thing in terms of

00:35your techniques in art, but he was just a great supporter and this was in a boys'

00:40grammar school and art wasn't really on the agenda.

00:43He was a science teacher, he's well passed now and he made me feel very confident in

00:49the subject he was teaching and he also did sports as well, which I've been heavily

00:56involved with football all my life and I'm still playing now.
